Sorakake Ends

Ah, finally SoraKake ends.

I have got to say, the last 6 episodes have been a real rollercoaster ride, compounded by the fact I just marathoned them all in one shot (which is generally the best way to watch ANY Sunrise show lately) and it’s really hilarious to see how the balance of power and the antagonist keep on changing over those 6 episodes, with the only constant in place being Nami as big, or even bigger, as a bitch as she is.

I especially found it funny that Imo-chan served as the final catalyst in to pushing Nerval to become good again and give up on his plan to make every human in to boxes, especially after 20 episodes of us grooming the viewers to see him as a very powerful existence with a twisted aim. The swiftness in which he makes his decision to give up that plan and finally see humans as they are is both surprisingly funny yet natural at the same time.

On the other hand, the sudden change from reluctant helper to megalomanical destroyer of Leopard was pretty unexpected and combined with the change of heart from Nerval, really did make me find it hillarious at first and then awe after it the facts sinked in. It’s pretty rare to see such switch of antagonists in any show and I’m pretty respecting of the writers to do that in Sorakake.

But… all in all, I still think that that was merely to cover the fact that there are still a lot of things unexplained yet about the whole show, such as the true meaning of the ‘Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo’ moniker, the Shishidou family (how are they related to Kagura, etc), Enigma and the Brain Colonies. Kagura also would benefit from a bit more backstory and it’s almost criminal how little airtime Takane gets :(.

Well, that just means there a big avenue left for Sunrise to start churning out a sequel or side-stories of the SoraKake universe and I’m pretty fucking sure they’ll capitalize on that sooner than later. Till then, let’s hope the Picture Dramas will reveal more background details as they come out on the Blu-Rays.

Fuck yeah, tsundere stationary war girl! It’s so refreshing to hear Chiwa Saitou to be voicing Senjogahara. I never knew she can put this much malice and terror in her voice.

That was a pretty awesome first episode of Bakemonogatari and the SHAFT-style, although a bit distracting at times, was quite complementary overall to the story and action at hand. Let’s just hope they don’t overdo it and go for a more acid-trip style later on.

I can’t ask for a more perfect adaptation. J.C. Staff is doing good work in this season of Hayate no Gotoku.

In fact, they even animated one of the manga’s tankouban omake about Kotetsu-kun! Impressive, really. Makes for a real nice change in the trend of anime studios screwing up the adaptations.

Oh god what?! Is every chapter of Medaka from now on going to be like this? It’s gonna get a bit unbearable you know. Plus I want more overbearing Medaka slave-driving Hitoyoshi.

This somewhat reminds me of Bakuman. The current arc in there is talking about how the Ashirogi pair is worried about their ratings dropping radically after the first few chapters and they try to do some crazy things to improve it. Is this what they were talking about?

I… don’t really feel like blogging about this arc yet, but I’ll do so for two things:

1. Suzumiya in a china-dress bikini top.

2. Nagato -actually- looking bored/dejected.

Man… it’s really inconceivable how one can actually spend 594 years repeating the same things again and again and again and again. Hurry up and figure the answer, Kyon-kun! I don’t want to see another looping episode again! (Actually when I read this chapter I had a notion that KyoAni might go crazy and air this episode for 15498 times before we got a new one. I hope that doesn’t happen… or maybe it has!)

Also, Mikuru going “Uuu… Lemme think… I have continued to use classified information to contact the future or to do classified information… Urr. I only feel something is wrong when I have had no contact from classified information for a week. And then classified information… Makes me very worried, so I tried to use classified information and the answer was classified information… Uuu… Waa! Whatever should I do…” was hilarious. And jealous Kyon too.

BTW… was it me or was Koizumi more…. er… ‘brave’ than usual this episode? Kyon nearly punched him! (I would’ve done so in fact, if I was Kyon too).

Best rendition of Koi no Mikuru Densetsu ever. It so sounds like some FF-battle theme song now, LOL. As expected from Tokyo Philharmonic.

Probably the more worthwhile Suzumiya Haruhi merchandise to come out, as all music sounds awesomely epic when played by a full orchestra. Not to mention the cool pic of Yuki playing the violin on the cover.

Oh wow, ICE BURN there, Negi. I mean, that pretty much sums up his true motivations so far. BTW, Godel’s ‘A’ is referring to Cosmo Entelachia, ‘B’ is referring to Negi’s father and ‘C’ refers to the burning of Negi’s village.

Maa~ of course like a kid, Negi vehemently denies it. I thought he went to Raiten Taisou 2 straight though, but it seems he kept it until now instead.

UPDATE: So I finally got my Steam to update its client properly after 3 days. Guess what’s the first thing I see when I get in? “Team Fortress 2, Half-Life 2: Episode 1 & 2, and Portal Update Released”.
