“Do you believe in equivalent luck?”

It seems to apply to me. A lot.

I just went through what possibly could be one of the most interesting days of my life. Ever.

First, the good news. I have finally achieved one of my otaku objectives, which is owning Kotobukiya’s Gothloli Asuka, thanks to Stripey-dono. I owe you an eternal debt of gratitude, my fellow brother-in-interests :).

Then, at night, I’m trying to install another HDD in to my PC, to fit in my ever-burgeoning collection of data, when somehow, I manage to fry my music HDD. OTL. 200GB of anison, gone. Just like that. Also fried another HDD, empty this time, to replace it. OTL, again. Not to mention, my newly bought VGA cooler wouldn’t fit on my video card thanks to two stupidly placed capacitors.

I’m surprised I’m still keeping my sanity. Wonderful day it has been, no?

Axe-tan, Axe-kun, and now, Knife-san

Via Mainichi News:

CHIBA — A junior high school boy has been arrested for stabbing a high school boy after burgling the victim’s home, police said.

The 14-year-old, third-year junior high school student, stands accused of attempted murder and violating the Firearms and Swords Control Law. He admitted during questioning that he had murderous intent.

“He spotted me sneaking into his house, so I thought I had to kill him so I wouldn’t get found out,” he was quoted as telling investigators.

The boy stabbed the 17-year-old victim in the head and back with a kitchen knife on the premises of an auto repair garage in Wakaba-ku, Chiba, at about 3:50 p.m. on Thursday, local police said. The suspect and victim were acquainted with each other. (Mainichi)

Oh wow, this recent spate of deadly teenage crime is really getting out of hand. Is it merely coincidences or a sign of things to come in Japan? Let’s hope for the best.

P.S. I just noticed that in the three cases up to now, the perpetrators are getting younger and younger. Axe-tan was 16, Axe-kun was 15 and now, Knife-san is 14. I reeeeaaaaaalllllly hope I don’t see a seventh or eighth case was the same pattern. 6 year olds running around with sharp objects are not funny.

“I just wanted to shout at the center of the world.”

Touhou

This picture has nothing to do with the contents of this post.

My finals are next Monday and all I’ve done this week is to rewatch Elfen Lied and finish watching Asatte no Houkou. Wonder what anime should I marathon watch next? RahXephon? Another run of Evangelion? Or maybe something more contemporary like sola or resuming my rewatch of Hitohira? Not to mention Fall Season coming up soon as well. Quite a number of shows I’m interested in to watch, particularly any ones with Kawasumi Ayako or Noto Mamiko in them.

Sigh… I’m such a failure at life ._.

After Axe-tan, now Axe-kun?

From Mainichi News:

TATSUNO, Nagano — A 15-year-old boy was arrested for attacking his father with an ax early Monday, leaving him with severe head injuries, police said.

At about 2 a.m., the boy hit his 44-year-old sleeping father in the head with an ax several times at his home in Tatsuno, local police said. When paramedics arrived at the victim’s home, he was bleeding from his head, but was fully conscious. (Mainichi)

Sigh… I hope this doesn’t mean more cancellations of anime. Axe-tan and Axe-kun, why couldn’t you both had waited ONE MORE WEEK!

PC Fair(II) 2007

Just came back from PC Fair (II) 2007. Not much difference from the other PC Fair’s , only this time I managed to get the HWM Malaysia subscription free gifts, which they’re going all out this time, giving out an Altec Lansing VS2321 speaker worth RM188 and also a USB Wi-Fi dongle, for the cheap price of RM144 for one year’s subscription. So yeah, it was pretty worth it, although lugging the speakers around for 6 hours straight in a crowded and confined space pretty much challenged my physical limits.

Aside from that, met up with a few old friends and caught up on old times, then bought an All-in-one printer for university and other uses and went walking around KLCC. Not many good promoter girls this time around, except for the HTC girls, who were in sexy 2-piece tops, and also one really cute meganekko I spotted randomly. :D~~~.

Anyways, dead tired now. Just doing this post to release some steam.

“..and they say lightning never strikes the same place twice…”

Off from the internet this few days and possibly for another few thanks to lightning strike burning off my motherboard’s PCI slots(I think). Thankfully all my other components were spared, especially the hard disks. If not…. I’ll probably break down.

GACC Day One Report

Very dead now… very dead… first day of event had unexpectedly large number of visitors, even though the highlights(cosplay competition and seiyuu appearance) are tomorrow. Quite a number of cosplayers showed up, although mostly the Naruto-Bleach variety… but I did spot a Kaitou Kid(Detective Conan).

Spent RM100 buying an Evangelion trading figure set… will be buying Kaiyodo’s Mikuru tomorrow… maybe… Also managed to touch a real life Alter Fate lol. I’ll do full report with pics after day 2…. need to rest orz.

P.S. Watched Kanon 24. Still don’t like Ayu ending :P.

Kanon Virus spreading over Winny.

Trojan Targets Winny Users with Anime Pictures
posted on 2007-03-02 23:59 EST

Sophos reports that the trojan Troj/Pirlames-A and its variant Troj/Pirlames-B, are being circulated on the Winny file-sharing network. The trojans pose as screensavers, but when downloaded and executed, they overwrite various files with images from popular anime / Ero-game Kanon.

The images contain statements that warn the viewer to stop using peer-to-peer software like Winny.

Originally publicized on 2ch, Winny is popular with Japanese anime and video-fans, among others. On December 13, 2006, Winny creator Isamu Kaneko was convicted of assisting copyright violations and sentenced to pay a fine of 1.5 million yen. One of the messages refers to Kaneko’s sentence, stating “Even though Kaneko-San was found guilty, you’re still using Winny aren’t you. I really hate such people!”

You know, this virus is really well done. Akiko’s one might as well just make me stop using WinNY.

Gong Xi Fa Chai escapades…

Yeah, I’m back finally from my balik kampung trip for Chinese New Year. I’m proud to declare I’m not an internet addict as I managed to survive 5 days without access, ok minimal access, to the internet. Opera Mini, GMail Mobile and GPRS are great lifenerdsavers.

How was my CNY? I’d say it was an OK trip. I managed to indulge in my annual vice of mahjong, got a nice amount of angpow which will be going to my C2D budget and tasted the real Ipoh “white” coffee (wtf there’s a wikipedia article on it?!!). Of course not forgetting the renewing of family ties, etc. etc.

While I was away, it looks the blogosphere didn’t run out of interesting topics to talk about. Heisei Democracy had an interesting article on dumpster diving animation studios and like Jeff, I’d like to go scrounge around the offices of Kyoto Animation or Megami Magazine when I have the chance.

Meanwhile, tj_han proves himself to be a regular digger with his interesting and undoubtly copypasted article on how nerds/otakus make the perfect partners. Just remember to find the right one for all you nerds out there.

So how was your Chinese New Year, my fellow Chinese readers?
