Toradora

Okay, I’m joining the Ami camp. This episode has really made me a convert to her cause awesomeness and beauty more like it. The clincher was her cheering up Ryuuji after he and Minorin had a fight and a continuation of how she defines her role in their relationship dynamics. Now I really wonder what she’s meaning when she says she’s “already further up the road” from Ryuuji in the context of how, where and when she says it. Man, you can read it in so many ways, it’s really ambiguous. Either we’re being taken for a ride or the director’s really playing us to his tune.

Toradora

Ah yes. Ryuuji and Minorin actually had a fight over the news of Taiga’s dad returning in her life. It was really a shock to see Minorin getting angry, partly because she rarely shows her true emotions with her facade of cheerfulness. This really humanises Minorin for me. The true subject of her anger is also worth mentioning, it seems as if Taiga’s dad has really made Taiga extremely sad before and Minorin was there to see or hear about it. I’m beginning to wonder what really happened in the Aisaka family.

And of course… there was the really random performance by 2-C. Man, those twintails really doesn’t suit Ami for some reason…

Man, seriously, Toradora just keeps drawing me in. I’m so happy to learn it will be a two cour show now, especially if they can keep up with this dramatic momentum they’ve been slowly building up.

Toradora is totally unpredictable yet familiar at the same time. It’s like suddenly having your PC motherboard turned in a BTX format when you’re used to ATX and all the slots/ports are situated differently yet they’re the same damn thing. Of course it works like a PC would on the whole but the way it’s doing it is totally different. In short, Toradora is forging a totally new path through an oft-used setup and doing incredibly refreshing things with it.

Man, I so wanted to watch this episode earlier, but had a lot of preparations to do for AFA. Thank god I finally managed to watch it before going off because this was such an awesome episode. Taiga is truly Toradorable!

(I wanted to comment here but you all know how アニ・ノート is.)

Hey! I maybe brief but I’m not lazy! ャダヽ(o`皿′o)ノ

Besides, the other two musketeers already provide a comprehensive joke coverage on the gropespatula.. whatever.

To be honest though… when Taiga got thrown in the water and her fake boobs came off, I was kinda pitying her too much to actually laugh. When Ryuuji put it back in despite knowing the abuse he’ll probably suffer later, I thought that was kinda manly…

Toradora!

The only thing smaller was for kids 12 and below.

You know, this season has somehow finally made me like back Kugyuu tsunderes with Taiga crossing into the threshold of “moe” fully. I just couldn’t resist how cute she was in this episode with all the worrying about her chest. Now all we need is a “symmetrical docking” fanart of her and Nagi together….

I find Ryuuji’s concern and care for Taiga quite a good and refreshing change from the usual dynamics of the main Kugyuu tsunderes and their male partners. Seeing Ryuuji make fake cleavage for Taiga after she showed him why she hated pool lessons just really made me go, “Ah. I would’ve done that for her too. It’s just so sad seeing her like that.” Toradora is really good at making the audience connect properly to the characters despite at how “messy” it all seems at first.

Toradora!

Taiga! With cleavage?! USODAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Taiga and Ami’s exchange of barbs continue to be highly entertaining to watch. Taiga and Ami really make a good foil out of each other.

Ami finally comes out of her shell? At the least she does explode in this episode.

I like Ami more now that she’s not actively trying to pretend to be some one else, in fact, it actually makes me rather sympathetic towards Ami, even, when they reveal that she’s being harassed by a stalker. I understand now why Kitamura pushed her towards Taiga and Ryuuji.

This episode also makes me wonder how Ami truly is. Is she really that bitchy or terrible when she’s her true self? It does seem she acts differently around females and males since she was pretty normal around Ryuuji after the stalker incident.

I think Ami and Taiga’s interaction from now onwards will be quite a fun watch. Toradora is definitely shaping up to be something a whole lot different from what its genre usually offers, especially in terms of character development and relationships.

Ami is…. simply put, a total trainwreck of a bitch. She’s like… ugh. I don’t know. God. My vocab doesn’t include words harsh or fitting enough to describe her. A real dojikko/tennen person would NEVER EVER, repeat, NEVER EVER, boast about being one, much less EMPHASIZING IT AS IF IT’S HER SELLING POINT. I mean, it totally defeats the purpose of being one, isn’t it?

God, her TERRIBLE acting just left a foul taste on my palette. Heck, watching mike rail about Lelouch in the channel was less painful than watching her act all clumsy and airheaded (regulars in the channel will no doubt get what I mean). Thank god for Taiga’s slap, seriously. I was having a tremendous murderous intent myself at seeing her. A really well-deserved slap, if there was never any before.

Toradora

Funnily enough, the episode was saved partially by the antics of Minorin, who just totally wins as a joke character as long as she’s not the main focus. Minorin RADAR was hilarious enough, but the punch sure came when Ryuuji asked her opinion of people who pretend airheaded when they’re not, totally made me choke with laughter, literally (since I was having a small snack at that time).

P.S. : I forgot to add that KitaEri kinda sounds… terribly flat with her rendition of Ami. If she’s doing that on purpose to catch the essence of her character and its role in the story, that’s quite impressive in some sort of ways, I guess. Elsewise….
