Spice and Wolf II OVA

Spicy Wolf

Oh god, this episode reminds me of how much I missed the series. And it’s chockful of what it does best, the tsun-tsun-dere-dere relationship building between Horo and Lawrence and Horo being, well, Horo.

The last part between Horo and Nola was pretty damn awesome too, even though I’m uncertain I got it right. But anyways I can’t wait for the second season to start soon.

2008 in Review: The Good, the Bad and the WTF?!

2008 in Review

This post is dedicated to the good, the bad and the WTF’s of this year. It’s really been an interesting year…..

Heh, I was supposed to post this yesterday, but with all the shopping, satelite tracking, celebrations and epic rickrolling, I only finished it today. I guess this will be my first real post of 2009, hehehe.

Anyways, the point of this post is to relive the more memorable moments of 2008 for me, in terms of anime and such. Another year filled with good things, bad shit and “just WTF were they thinking?!” craziness.

2008 in Review: Picks of 2008

2008 in Review

Another year passes. Man, it’s hard to believe I’m already in to my 9th year of being an otaku as well as my 4th year of blogging. Time sure flies. I’m now well over 1500 posts with nearly 16k comments, and it’s thanks to everyone’s support that I’ve gotten so far.

This year was marked by an increased number of good shows, but surprisingly, it wasn’t as “happening” as last year. To put it in another way, while the average increased, the top end of the bell curve wasn’t as high as last year. Nevertheless, this year still had its moments.

My choices here aren’t particularly graded using a strict measure, it’s more of an overall rating of shows of this year that I greatly enjoyed in one way or another, so please view it as that rather than a solid indicator of quality.

Of course, being a mere mortal with a real life outside of the Internet, I will inevitably miss a few gems here and there, so feel free to voice up any other shows that you, my dear reader, believe I should have watched and not missed for this year.

With that said, here’s the list.

Women will always be women, no matter the species, XD. Nice analogy with the rabbits and wolves there, Horo *thumbs up*.

I sure wish we get to see Horo pwning teh shit out of that other wolf and his pack. Lawrence keeps failing again though, he should’ve seen that backstab coming. Horo’s right, he’s just too kind at times.

Ouch, Lawrence, ouch.

Remember aspiring merchants, do no engage in marginal trade unless you have really good and reliable information.

Tabi no Tochuu & Ringo Biyori

Spice and Wolf

ツイニキタ―――(・∀・)―――!!

Spice and Wolf OPED is awesome. Horo! \o/

Tabi no Tochuu full version feels more dreamy than the full version, while the Engrishy-ness of Ringo Biyori is rather endearing for some reason… “I’m a little wolf inside a girl~~”

Horo Skin for Pangya

nekosasu found this over at Nicovideo, and god, couldn’t resist posting about it.

Man…. Pangya would be even more popular if they let us do this officially… *hinthint*.

Spice and Wolf 05

Spice and Wolf

Oh Horo, she’s such a tease.

This episode, we got to see a lot of different sides of her. From that angry-embarrassed face she made when Lawrence didn’t rescue her the way she expected from a male, to her emotional breakdown when she recalled the harsh words that Chloe said to her, and finally the teasing face she makes when she blatantly states that “cuteness” is a specialty of females and uses that to tease Lawrence to the max.

Hahah, poor Lawrence, it sure must be a handful to handle her. But like the old guy who drives the carriage this episode, I’d wish to meet someone like her as well, XD.

A bit unexpected that Chloe is now their enemy though, so I guess that “business proposition” she mentioned in the first episode was this.

Spice and Wolf 04

Spice and Wolf

Lawrence cooperates with the Milone Company and finds out that the Medioh Company is probably behind Zeiren’s scheme, most probably backed by nobles as well. However, Lawrence and Horo are both attacked one night and Horo is captured by the Medioh Company. Trying to request the help of Milone, Lawrence reveals to them that Horo is a wolf.

Quite some character development and some action happens in this episode of Spice and Wolf. Horo opens up her heart to Lawrence, and hints of romantic involvement are heavily thrown in. Horo remains a fascinating character, showing both her fragile and strong sides in this episode.

This episode ends with a big cliffhanger, with Horo’s identity revealed to a number of people and she herself is captured by someone she seemingly knows.
