The rest of the episode had me ROFL’ing too, with Eri’s questioning of Harima, Yoshidayama’s blond hair and the kicker at the end when Harima had the “best” onigiri’s of his life.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Yeah, Sukuran Nigakki wins. I was laughing hard, way from the start. It’s glad to see they’ve restored the humour nicely in this episode. The romance tension in the air is still there, but now it’s more humourous rather than being lame as in the later parts of the first season. Tenma is at her usual irritatingly ignorant self here, only this time, less irritating and more funny. Highlights:

- Seeing Yakumo in the kimono(?) in the beginning feudal Japan sequence.
- Harima’s “Don’t worry, I’ll make *imouto-san* happy” line.
- Hanai discovering about Yakumo’s stayover at Harima’s place.
- Harima and Hanai’s double orz in the end.
- The part after the credits with the ero-sommelier.

The only bone I can find to pick with Sukuran Nigakki is the new OP and ED’s. They are really different in feel to the first season’s hyper uplifting Scramble and the brutally honest Onna no Ko Otoko no Ko, but they’re aren’t too bad actually, I’ll just have to take my time to get used to them.

One of the more anticipated Christmas releases, with School Rumble’s popularity being quite high among anime fans nowadays, this DVD is a collection of two episodes with material taken from the sidestories in the manga(notably the “B” side, manga readers will know :). I apologize for the lack of screencaps though, couldn’t get MPC to grab images from WMV9 files :P. For screencaps, I’ll redirect you guys over to Zyl’s blog posts :).

Episode One has quite a lot of Yakumo goodness and also Tenma/Harima hilarity. Yakumo’s first meeting with Sara was quite nice to watch and also with her sleeping problem, which I can somewhat relate too :P. The hillarious parts were the seat lottery with Harima going around to threaten people and Tenma finally getting to sit beside Karasuma. The *onsen* part was darn funny as well, with Eri getting some “value added service” from Harima, making me literally ROFLMAO. Harima x Eri 4TW!!. The parody “Galaxy Express 999″ ending was fun to watch too.

Continuing in episode two is quite some funny parts with Imadori and Lala. Imadori was pretty cool when he requested for a smile from Lala. But Lala’s smile later… I don’t really know whether to say it’s cute or scary :).

Following on, the caveman part was kinda funny to watch, with the over-the-top 3DCG sequence of them fighting DeathTusk. This episode’s “reverse” ending, with the usual SD Harima replaced by the SD versions of the girls and the background images changed to quite some “yaoi-listic” pics of the Sukuran guys, made me LMAO. This really shows how the production crew are liberal to do self-parodies :).

Overall, the OVA was quite nicely done and fun to watch, making quite a worthy addition to the School Rumble series. The best thing is the confirmation of the second season with the school festival being held. I’m anxiously waiting for the paintball fight in school :).
