Mmm~ quite a lame end. I was wishing for a lot of helpings of fanservice, but the risque levels never went above the minimum levels. But oh well… at least this series is done for, for now. Unless they wanna do another season of it, XD.

Well, Kanokon has been mildly enjoyable for me, given the sheer levels it pushes the envelope of “fanservice” anime and thankfully, the show realises that and doesn’t push itself too much to try and make a “deep” plot out of it. Sure, there was much interesting things, characters and settings to explore, but in the end, I’m glad the studio decided to keep it short and simple.

It’s surprising too how long the show has managed to keep my interest, and it’s pretty much a testament of the shit I can endure just to get my dose Ayako Kawasumi and Noto Mamiko, although towards the last few episodes, I’ve totally been able to predict all their lines and responses. But I guess, something is better than nothing, plus it gives me something to tide my time over, especially early in the week when there is a general lack of shows to watch after Geass airs.

Not exactly a show worth to be recommended widely, but if you’re a connoisseur of fanservice anime, I guess Kanokon is worth a watch. Too bad the shock factors went down much as the show progressed on.

Beach episode finally. I’m surprised it comes in so late in the show’s run, considering it’s one of the customary cliché’s that every ecchi/romance harem anime must have.

Surprisingly, it’s “normal” episodes like this, free from youkai hijinks and shouta gattai’s, are the ones I enjoy most in Kanokon. Just the whole gang having a bit of normal fun, spiced with some extreme swimsuits (note: bandaids ARE NOT swimsuits) and a little bit of character development (I “awww”‘ed when Asahina went to thank Tayura for saving her from a watery doom) are the episodes that I can lay back and enjoy.

Anyways, time for the slideshow. Not really much, but enjoy ^^.

Asahina has a surprisingly bold choice of swimwear, wearing a black frilly two-piece. Still, Nozomu’s choice of “swimwear”….

Of course, there is also the prerequisite “put the suntan lotion on me” trope to play with. “Nuru nuru” sandwich!!

Holy shit this episode of Kanokon. Straight shot back up to the usual ecchiness. We have “chichi”makura (yes, that kind of “chichi”), pettan-ko Chizuru (flatter than Nozomu!!) and “cake”. Yes. “Cake”. No, seriously. “Cake”.

Oh god, now I hunger for cake.

Even introducing Chizuru’s mom wasn’t good enough to forgive the boredom of this episode. Yeah, she did sexually assault Kouta, but it was just for a while and only once. Then that lame attempt to test Kouta’s “loyalty” was just pure boredom, since it was just Kouta and Nozomu going, “Can I?” “You can.” over and over. I nearly fell asleep at that part.

Even Chizuru had her FQ(Fanservice Quotient) lowered down, with just random T&A shots and a nyotaimori. For god’s sake, I’m not watching this to see a romance story! Give me back my awesome fanservice!!

Let’s hope next episode will bring back the mindless fanservice enjoyment. I suspect tentacles for next week.

Whee~ back to the usual aggresive Chizuru this episode.

It’s New Year’s over there and Kouta’s just chillaxin’ alone at home when as usual, Chizuru barges in and stays the day with him, making him food and playing Chizuru’s special sugoroku. Happiness doesn’t last long of course, as Nozumu barges in as well, so Kouta decides to take all three of them out for hatsumoude where they bump in to the others as well, causing Chizuru to complain about “disturbances”. Yeap, just another normal day in the Kanokon-verse. Asahina was just so cute when she got drunk by drinking amazake, at least Tayura got himself a nice memory.

Chizuru laments the lack of fanservice in this episode.

Fail for not enough fanservice. I hate it when they start to put in some semblance of a story in to fanservice shows.

Right, so Nozomu’s brother, Saku, appears, puts a lust-restraining device on Kouta, which results in Chizuru having to avoid Kouta in order to not let him get killed by her body. Chizuru suffers from Kouta withdrawal symptoms, so Tayura enlists help to beat up Saku, but gets beaten up himself. Chizuru also gets stripped by Saku, until Kouta appears and fox shouta saves the day, again. Well, you get the gist of it. Rather pointless episode, really.

Meh, looking forward to episode six, there’s Chizuru in kimono and sukumizu. Interesting combination, don’t you think?

Bunny girl Chizuru kinda fits her character. But it’s weird to see a fox cosplaying as a bunny girl, really.

Who would win though, in a shootdown between Bunny Girl Kallen and Bunny Girl Chizuru?

Despite her aggressiveness towards Kouta, Chizuru’s still a normal girl. She “evidently” hates being looked at by other people except for Kouta. But really… it’s kinda hard to keep the attention away when you’re dressed in that outfit.

Tayura’s just got one of his life-long dreams fulfilled. Akane is just so cute in her upright-ness behavior, so it’s definitely funny to see her being put in to a spot like this. But seriously… the “M” shape is awesome.

The other two classmates also get “cosplayed”. Admitedly the miko outfit fits Ms. Long-Black-Hair really well. I still haven’t gotten their names even after 4 episodes though…

Tayura: “Shit. This is terrible.”

Oh yes, this is definitely “terrible” in a lot of ways, huh. Tayura is a truly a man true to his hearts and desires.

Tayura: “This is the worst”

Now, this IS terrible. I got flashes of Inukami at this point. Specifically, the episode where they found that cosplay artifact. Oh god, the terrible memories.

That spider demon sure has some really handy attacks.

Tayura: “Pfft, that was nothing. My weaknesses are nurses, sisters, police, mikos and chinadresses!”

Truly, Tayura is a man worthy of respect for being true to his desires even in “desperate” circumstances.

‘ol spider demon, of course, gladly obliges him. Shit, she got the whole set perfectly!

The tsurupettan ookami also takes the chance to deal Kouta a death-blow of her own. XD

Backup arrives, but are dispelled easily with the “STRIPPING ALL THE GIRLS” naked attack. Not exactly the best idea to call for male reinforcements when the enemy is adept at using female bodies as a weapon.

Even if she doesn’t say it, Sahara-sensei’s face already tells us the whole story. Ahh, yes. “Men are idiots.”.

Chizuru: “You’re a Japanese demon right? Why the wedding dress and the piano?”
Spider Demon: “I’m sick of kimono’s”

But I’m not, dammit. I wanted to see Chizuru in a kimono, you bitch!

In the end, they easily dispel the clothing by GATTAI, and fox-shouta-gayness-inducing Kouta saves the day with his MOE-MOE-BREAK… Chizuru x Kouta Fox Fire attack.

In the end, all’s well ends well. Lucky for me this is only the second time that fox-shouta-gayness-inducing Kouta has appeared in the series. Let’s keep it less frequent, ‘aight?

Even Chizuru-san’s a bit shy.

You know all those people saying that “Kanokon sucks because it’s a fanservice show!” ? They’re all wrong. It’s a softcore show now.

Chizuru has gotten bit by the “cooking for my dear” bug…. sadly she just sucks at it.

Well, at least it looks presentable.

The tsurupettan ookami pulls a Rei on Kouta. I lol’ed at that.

Angry Chizuru is scary. Really scary.

Well, at least she didn’t blow the classroom up.

Oh shit, Kouta’s given the bentou hell. The tsurupettan ookami’s cooking is about par with Chizuru’s cooking, so…. *clap clap bow* Kouta.

Ah… the infamous “whose bentou are you gonna eat?” situation.

The classmates are making a fuss as usual. Akane even joins in the fun. I loved it when she went “Fuketsu!” when they asked her to comment.

Again, angry Chizuru is scary. Like, reeeally scary.

Well, at least she didn’t blow the house up.

Wising up, Chizuru rounds up the classmates to help her taste test the food. Again, *clap clap bow* for you three girls.

Taste-testing for Chizuru is a life-threatening job.

More “treatment” from Chizuru-san, with the tsurupettan ookami joining up to give Kouta a double dose. At this rate, I dunno which is more threatening to Kouta, the ailment or the treatment.

Finally deciding to get rough, Chizuru earns herself a chiding out from Kouta.

I… well… god, I dunno what to say. This is the first time I think that I’ve watched a show of this time that actually made me blush from the sheer boldness of it. Chizuru-san BANZAI! BANZAI! BANZAI! God, my respect levels for Ayako-sama just went through the roof again.

• New nicknames for Chizuru and Nozomu, given to each other respectively. “Aburami kitsune” (Fat meat fox lit.) and “tsurupettan ookami” (flat-chested wolf). Still can’t beat Kouta’s “Eros Daioh”.
• Aburami kitsune vs tsurupettan ookami fighting in the bath. Without the usual obnixious steam censoring. Score one for XEBEC. The bath scene was truly awesome.



Yay for minimal steam!

• Note to Chizuru and Nozomu, stripping someone on the verge of getting a cold, and then getting naked yourself to hug him, DOES NOT help make the person better. But still, I don’t mind getting nursed that way.



Getting a fever is worth it, I guess.

I gotta love Ayako Kawasumi’s Chizuru. Only a seiyuu with her experience can do such a role so perfectly without feeling restrained or faked. Especially when she spouts all those flirty lines, and her ability to take on even such roles so seriously is truly a cause for respect.

Noto Mamiko Kouta? All I can say is; A fox shouta is fine too. :3
