First part of my 2009 in Review article. Only shows I’ve completed watching are in this list, divided in to four tiers of descending “accumulative entertainment value”.

Resolves a lot of questions for the series + lots of focus on Rika.

Okay Tier

CLANNAD After Story: KEY should stop using those deus ex machina devices so much.
Zoku Natsume Yuujin-chou: Needs more youkai.
Denpateki na Kanojo: The fastest way to happiness is to look awak from reality.
Asu no Yoichi: Better than I thought.
Hayate no Gotoku 2nd Season: J.C. Staff redeemed themselves.
Fight! Ippatsu Juuden-chan: Would’ve been Awesome tier if they didn’t overuse the urination trope.
Taisho Yakyuu Musume: Would’ve been Awesome tier if they won the last match.
Tokyo Magnitude 8.0: Did KEY had a hand in writing the last few episodes for this?
Ontama: Short and (bitter)sweet.
Darker than Black Ryuusei no Gemini: Didn’t learn from its predecessor.
Aoi Bungaku: Batshit insane Nana Mizuki was the highlight.
Kanokon OVA: Rather iyashii-kei, surprisingly.
Nyan Koi!: Just barely in here.
Suzumiya Haruhi II: Not counting Endless Eight that is!

Shit Tier

Kurogane no Linebarrels: Only watched it for the name similarity.
Asura Cryin’: Causality loops are mindfucking.
CANAAN: SUGOI SUGOI SUGOI SUGOI
Chrome-Shelled Regios: Felli was in the wrong show.
Tales of the Abyss: Even gg didn’t finish subbing this shit.
To Aru Majutsu no Index: Adaptation Decay.
Gundam 00 2nd Season: The Innovator’s names.
WHITE ALBUM: Give me back my boyfriend.
Tower of Druaga The Sword of Uruk: Needed more Ropers.
Munto TV: Pretentious as fuck.
K-ON!: A music anime with sucky music.
Umineko no Naku Koro ni: DEEN Adaptation.
Princess Lover!: Took itself as a joke.
Kampfer: Ode to Joy.
The Sacred Blacksmith: Cecily is annoying.
Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu Purezza: WHITE ALBUM wannabe.
11eyes: The sex in the penultimate episode was just a vision? GODDAMNIT.

In total, 43 shows completed this year. I’m surprised at how much I managed to watch despite thinking about how slow this year was. Then again, I never did keep track of the number of shows I watched for the last few years…..

Another World: Kyou’s Arc announced.

The eighth and final DVD for Kyoto Animation’s Clannad After Story anime adaptation of Key’s Clannad visual novel will include an “Another World: Kyou Arc” episode. As the name implies, the episode will recount an alternate story arc that focuses on the Kyou Fujibayashi character. The announcement was made at “~Kono Machi no Negai ga Kanau Basho,” the Clannad fan appreciation event that was held in Tokyo’s New Pier Hall on Sunday. There will be a preview screening for the Kyou Arc episode on May 24, followed by the July 1 DVD release.

Best news ever. Kyou damn well deserves her own episode.

I’m a bit scared though, her story is rather quite emotional… but then again, so was the Another World: Tomoyo Arc episode. But it’s Kyou, so oh well :D.

CLANNAD After Story 19

Tomoya’s reunion and reconciliation with his father had me, I unashamedly admit, shedding tears for it. It really makes you realize that the sacrifices that parents make for their children sometimes are so heavy that one cannot fully appreciate it. People have always said that CLANNAD’s main theme is “family” and this episode truly reflects it.

Also, Fuko makes an appearance! We’ve all almost forgot her! This time she’s finally woke up from her coma and up and about, just like a little kid (despite being the same age at Tomoya!). LOL at her glomping of Ushio.

Oh that was just so touching. My eyes actually teared up when Tomoya finally told Ushio about Nagisa and he kinda broke down a bit, but recovered.

… and that is just so “Awwwwwwwwwwwww~!”

Tomoya’s not such a bad father, at least not as bad as HIS father was. I kinda like his brusque but caring manner towards Ushio. He should just get over Nagisa’s death and raise Ushio up.

P.S. Sanae is so goddamned awesome.

At the risk of sounding heartless, I’ve gotta say I’m feeling more relieved than sad right now. It actually means we’ll finally be going in to the real meat of CLANNAD’s story. I so do want to know what will happen from here on. I’ve only been mostly spoiled to this point.

UPDATE: This probably sounds crazy, but I watched this episode before I went to bed and subsequently I had a crazy dream of my mother giving birth to triplets. ORZ.

Wow, Tomoya’s actually pretty… “strong” in that part isn’t he. Perhaps they’ve already did it earlier…? Nah, no way. Both of them must’ve been at it like rabbits every night then.

Uh oh. Nagisa drinks alcohol for the first time.

Poor Tomoya goes through hell dealing with both her AND Sanae. LOL.

And finally, Nagisa graduates from her really long high-school education. T’was good to see the old cast back again, even if it was a brief one. Sunohara is still the best joker of the series. So hard to recognise him with normal hair colors ｗｗｗｗｗｗｗｗｗｗｗｗｗ

Tomoya and Nagisa finally get married too. Nagisa’s really starting to resemble Sanae a lot when she’s all dressed up.
