「CLANNAD AFTER STORY」 announced

[アニメ]TVA「CLANNAD AFTER STORY」製作決定! このエントリーを含むブックマーク
CLANNAD AFTER STORY

スタッフ、キャストは変わらず。電撃G’sマガジン2008年5月号に監督とシリーズ構成のインタビューが掲載。初は1期だけ、渚ルートだけにしようかって話もあったけど、色々と議論した結果、この形になった。

Moonphase reports that CLANNAD AFTER STORY will be made, with no staff changes. The news was reported in Dengeki G’s Magazine 2008/05, in an interview with the director.

No further information at the moment.

UPDATE 1: Added a line (presumably from the interview article). “At first, we only decided to take Nagisa’s route, however after many discussions this was decided instead.”

UPDATE 2: So yes, the announcement at the end of this week’s CLANNAD is the preview of CLANNAD AFTER STORY. Here’s a nice upload on Youtube of the 15 sec clip.

First thing I thought when I saw Ushio… “Ijimeko?!” Shit, so cuteeeeeeee~~~~~~~~~

Definitely, a smile like that fits Nagisa the best :).

Finally, for a change, a happy ending that I like in a KEY series . I can’t deny that the ending arc was rather weakly executed though.

Anyways, it looks like there will be another omake episode to cap off this series. One can’t deny that the comedy aspect of CLANNAD was integrated the best amongst all the 3 KyoAni-KEY series up till now, so more hilarity is always good :).

2 minutes of tongue twisters followed by the Theater club girls doing warmup exercises. Thank you for the ero-ero angles, cameraman!

Also, megane Tomoyo is pretty kawaii, but she could use either bigger glasses or neater hair to improve the attractiveness of the whole image.

Actually… I dunno what else to say about this episode really. I… well, emo Nagisa doesn’t really endear.

CLANNAD

Just like Jeff Lawson, with each episode of CLANNAD nowadays, I find myself liking Nagisa more and more, and she truly has grown much as a character, endearing herself in my heart. I think the biggest strength of CLANNAD now is how KyoAni has tackled Nagisa as a character, and as Jeff says, she’s the first Key primary heroine to really feel like the primary heroine.

Another thing that I have to mention out, is how Yukine and Sunohara have both noticed Tomoya’s feelings and hesitation, and they both, in their own ways, are trying to help those two together. Sunohara especially, who might be a fool most of the time, but he still can be pretty sharp. He’s definitely got my vote as my wingman, if I ever have a chance to befriend him, heh heh.

Akio also reveals a traumatic incident in Nagisa’s past, where she almost lost her life. I truly admire both Akio and Sanae as parents, for giving up their careers for their only daughter. It truly takes a lot of love to do so, and even more so to hide the fact in order not to burden their daughter with it.

In any case… another 6 2 more episodes to go before the show wraps up, and I hope KyoAni will not disappoint us all. A box of tissues have already been prepared by my side, and it’d be nice if I didn’t waste it. ;)

Mad Nagisa is cute

Tomoya episode, surprisingly.

His homeroom teacher decides to pay a visit to his home, and we find out Tomoya’s father has been basically treating him as a stranger, etc. etc. Nagisa witnesses this and invites him to stay over her house, much to the displeasure of Akio-san. Over at the Furukawa’s, Tomoya experiences what it’s like to be a true family, which makes him feel weird. He also finds out that Nagisa Sanae used to be a school teacher and she quit her job to be a baker, and Nagisa later confides that she feels that she owes her parents something that happened in the past, but she can’t remember, sparking Tomoya’s curiosity.

Overall, nice character development episode, but nothing outstanding happens apart from a few moments of Sunohara hilarity. Tomoya still can’t be honest with/doesn’t realise his feelings for Nagisa yet, though.

Both an awesome and disappointing episode. I truly have mixed feelings about this series.

Kyou - 0 ; Tomoyo - 1

The basketball match episode, Kyou is the chosen 3rd member. Well, I guess from the OP, it’s pretty expected already.

Quite a lot of fun stuff happens this episode, too. Mei gets invited over to the Furukawa house to stay for a while, and she mistakes Sanae for Nagisa’s sister, lulz. Tomoyo’s starting to show her interest for Tomoya… albeit in a way that she herself doesn’t even realize yet. There was an epic showdown, between Kyou and Tomoyo… and Tomoyo actually mentally defeats Kyou and makes her blush, LOL! Looks like Tomoyo isn’t just strong physically, but orally too, hahaha.

Basketball match itself was pretty okay, with the trio of Sunohara, Kyou and Tomoya leading at first, then getting pwned, with Tomoya finally dealing the gyakuten point right at the end of the match, SLAM DUNK-style. Gotta love Kyou’s multiple 3-pointers. She also has her own fangirls too it seems as well, not to surprising, heh heh heh. Too bad Mei leaves right after the basketball match ends, would’ve loved to see her stick around for another episode :P.

Kyou: /facepalm

So far, I’m really appreciating the current flow of events in the past 2 episodes of CLANNAD, as it really portrays the “school life” theme perfectly without actually focusing on one character only. I suspect the next arc would possibly be Tomoyo’s arc, thanks to her increased appearances lately. One thing makes me wonder though… would they be able to include the “After Story” in 26 episodes?
