I had no idea what this episode was trying to do since it was all over the place. The art was quite QUALITY too with the oversized and off-center eyes generally. I think Maeda forgot that anime runs at 22 minutes and ending things in the middle of a gay hug flashback scene isn’t a very good idea generally. But oh well, it had great fanservice moments though…

Yui-nyan♥! She is surprisingly endearing, in a funny manner, after you watch her for a while. Not to mention she has a tendency to act cute and still tsukkomi at the same time.

Hurr… GirlDeMo rendition of My Soul Your Beats is pretty damn good. The vocals are definitely better, especially for those who aren’t a fan of Lia’s “screechy” voice. Of course, the original still has its merits, like the piano parts, the piano parts and oh, the piano parts.

Thank god they got real vocalists to sing for GirlDeMo though, I would dig out my eardrums if they got Yui’s seiyuu (Kitamura Eri) to sing orz.

Deadpan Kana-chan is deadpan.

First episode of Angel Beats is pretty interesting, with a good amount of initial exposition, interleaved with action and slapstick humor that just keeps one glued to the screen. I’m quite glad it lived up to my expectations.
