FFXIV:ARR

SO SHINY

Don’t worry guys, I’m not dead yet. It’s just that I’ve been waaaaaaaaaaay too addicted to FFXIV:ARR and combined with the fact I just don’t feel that much passion for anime anymore, it created a sort of perfect storm where I’ve practically almost stopped watching things.

So yeah, I don’t think I’ll be blogging stuff on the rate I was at these past 2-3 years. I’m not sure how much longer FFXIV:ARR will have its hold on me, but once I get sick of it, regular postings will probably be back up. Once it does, I’ll probably catch up with the stuff hanging so far, then move to the new season…. but I can’t guarantee when it’ll be.

Well, it’s a phase I guess. I haven’t quit blogging yet, but I just don’t feel like doing anything else in my free time other than adventuring in Eorzea in the time being. Heck, I just only realized it’s been almost 2 weeks since I made post so yeah, here’s why.

FAQ

Q: Goddamnit Kurogane!
A: I’m sorry ._.

Q: Where are you playing in FFXIV?
A: Currently I’m based on Masamune(Legacy). It’s a JP server

Q: Hey, I play there too!
A: Well if you want to hit me up, my char’s name is Karen Minaloushe.

Q: Ewww…
A: Hey, I just didn’t want to be weaboo or sound like I’m role-playing. Lay off.

Q: Lodestone?
A: Here

Q: Is the game really that good?
A: Well yes, pretty much. The graphics are great and the gameplay is decent, but what really gets you is how good the little details are. Plus you never ever feel like you’ve got nothing to do ever, in this game. Even in end-game.

Q: Should I play it?
A: NO. Unless you are ready to lose half your soul to it.

Q: Well, guess I don’t have to come back to this blog anymore…
A: Sad to hear you’re leaving, it’s been a great having you.

Q: Goodbye!
A: Goodbye!

Considering how long he been blogging and how stupidly addicting AAR is I wasn’t that surprised the posts slowed down. He can come back whenever he wants and us bitching about it won’t help at all. Follow him on twitter or something if you really want to stalk him I guess

Ah, yes. Many a fellow in fanfiction writing, for instance, has fallen to this hideous cancer upon writing called videogaming, or its even more horrible variant, the online gaming. Instead of continuing writing for themselves and others, to continue leaving a mark in creative work or online reporting, the victims start wasting their time in something that ultimately will leave nothing set in online data stone, and when they die, they and their videogame-spent hours will be washed away like tears in the rain, with nothing to show for them.

    “I’m sorry”.

No, you aren’t. You aren’t, or you’d be breaking away from the vile habit. Spare us the lies, good sir, and face the electronic corruption of your once noble soul! (Although in retrospect, the seeds of darkness were seen in you since you sort of defended Negima’s manga end). Only then, you shall be able to vanquish your inner dragon, who happily gnaws and feasts upon your spirit, festering on it while laughing with a mouth full of fetid fangs.

I know the end of Oreimo wounded you, but that’s no reason to surrender to the beast! Struggle to become a writing human again, rather than a slave of the fake world and its virtual chains! REJOIN THE LIVING!

Stupid Oreimo end. When in doubt, always blame it.

All we ask for is one picture of Nadeko or Charlotte a week, good sir. This week’s mission is already accomplished.

I know, I know. MMORPG’s are basically massive skinner boxes, but I never really got to see how bad it was until now. I mean, I did lose 4 years of life to RO before, but FFXIV is probably the first time I’ve done an MMORPG for real. And I can see how bloody dangerous it is.

It’s seriously bad when your logical side KNOWS you’re not supposed to do this, but you just can’t override wanting to play it :(

Stupid Oreimo end. When in doubt, always blame it.

    Can’t disagree with this.

Yes, trying to minmax now by farming for Peacock Ores to make an Astral ring while I cap myths every week. Fucking Darklight equips for casters have shit real dps stats.

Oh man, I’m also in deep, although on Tonberry {JP, non-legacy)

And I DO have a weaboo name, gotta give it up for the 2hus. With the scroll icon for SCH, and the possible hair color gradient, the name pretty much chose itself. If you are a weeb, you will know this.

Yup. FFXIV is fiendishly addictive if it manages to tickle your fancy past 60% of your interests. I managed to hit Lv48 Bard with not very much grinding; tons of quests with unique dialogue, didn’t feel bored at all. Combat is pretty slick (compared to 1.0), I like it a lot. Fishing is still relaxing and has unique animations based on lure/bait type. One Skyrim reference. Cat-girls. (OH YEAH.) And logging out via visiting an Innkeeper with race/gender specific bed animations.

If it wasn’t for the upcoming anime season, I would have stopped blogging about my animu. The world will really and truly be dead to me once the first expansion for FFXIV occurs.

I just realized what will happen to me if FFXIV gets an expansion as good as Chains of Promathia. God save my soul..

Q: Is the game really that good?
A: Not really besides pretty graphics and animations this game got pretty much nothing going for it. Lack of content, lack of bug fixes and balancing, terribly boring and bland combat gameplay where pretty much every class is the same and use very similar mechanics. Not to mention the terribly low responsiveness of the game and downright stupid AOE targetting mechanics =/

There Kuro I fixed it for you.

Hey hey… old anime blog greats never quit, they only fade away.

There is one thing you should keep in mind: You have an _awesome_ following in readers. Not just because I am around, but you have a highly diverse and positive crowd that is remarkably resilient ;)

I hope you’ll be able to pick one anime per season and keep going. Today, “Mahouka Kokou no Rettousei” was announced as anime – finally. Wouldn’t you agree that this is a divine sign?

http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/character/2041920/ That’s me on break now tho until 2.1

For the past 1-2 weeks there’s been barely anything to do besides grinding another job to 50 which is pretty much pointless as the Cross-Class skills system is terribad it’s a miscarried idea that was decent before advancing into a job and ruined after going into a job ( Black Mage etc…)

The biggest problem I have that the content that comes with 2.1 after 2 months of release should be there AT release… I’m friggin worried about the frequency of patches…

I’m not saying the game is bad it just begs for polish and I don’t even wanna start on superiority of raiding content in WoW when compared to FFXIV… So far we only got to see Bahamut’s Coil which is “meh-ish” liked the ADS2.0 fight so far but most of it is pretty downright boring =/

I could probably keep on ranting for ages… anyway the point I’m trying to make is there’s no way in hell FFXIV is keeping me away from my beloved anime especially now that this autumn season keeps getting better and better.

Started playing FFXIV because of this post, its decent but.

I rolled a summoner as well and i have decided they are extremely overpowered and have massive issues with agro and pulling off tank.
I rotate from one enemy on green to the next and just end up with every enemy on an orange arrow and have to entirely stop dpsing every dungeon…

does this stop late game or does it plague u for ever im currently lvl 43

  35. Kurogane Shiroikaze Said,

    October 22, 2013 @ 1:34 am

LOL wait till you reach end game. I don’t even bother about aggro anymore i just walk right up to the tank and take it like a boss.

On the flipside they should die fast enough that your healer won’t run out of mana.

Also, blame the tank :P (just joking)
