FFFFFUUUU————-

Oh wow. I didn’t expect this show to have it’s own Mami moment. But oh wow, holy shit that happened. And the implications holy crap.

I mean, Hibiki’s “Gear” is the holding of hands isn’t it? Arguably we can say that it’s a form of “bridging” people together. Now that Hibiki has lost her arm, the symbolism here is rather obvious, Hibiki is unable to “bridge” the gap between her side and the FIS team. Am I thinking too much here?

Also, this ties in with the true objective behind their actions that Dr. Ver just revealed.

So… they aren’t just doing this for shits and giggles. Real funny too that they are using Finé’s name for this. This does confirm my suspicions somewhat about Dr. Ver…. he’s just too evil to be real evil. I personally felt that he’s really taking on the role of a “bad” guy here as a form of strong hero worship gone too far. Looks like that’s the case.

Now…. the question is, can Symphogear users regenerate body parts? Or is Hibiki going to get prosthetics? Imagine if they equip her with a model that’s capable of doing rocket punches…

Serena finally got some air time too, but looks like she’s already gone, sacrificing herself to reset the “Nephilim”, which the episode reveals is a “complete Relic”. Interesting. It felt weird to be introducing biological monsters like the Nephilim at this stage, but if it’s a Relic then it does make more sense.

Her Gear form is pretty different from the rest

Oh, and finally…

That ORBITAL BEAT performance by Kirika and Shirabe was pretty good! The nerve of them to perform that in front of Tsubasa though….

I read from this site some translations of “keywords” from the official symphogear site.
    http://symphogear.blogspot.com/2013/07/summary-of-new-keywords-from-g.html
It’s got some explanation about the Nephilim thing.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the arm grows back. If I remember correctly, back in season 1 Hibiki was shown to heal quickly, though I don’t know how fast or how effective it is.

Umm, could you possibly not put such a big spoiler image right at the start of the blog post. That shows up right on the main page so it would have spoiled me if I hadn’t see the episode yet.

I think after all this years, anyone who visits my site are pretty ready for spoilers. And I’m not even doing badass raw blogging anymore.

And Ogawa is a ninja huh…. that explains a lot.

Well there are spoilers and there are spoilers. I think this one was a pretty huge one.

I was certainly super shocked at the whole thing. It would have much less of an effect if I found out about it beforehand.

This Symphogear season is really good wow. I really like the depth you went with the symbolism of Hibiki’s gear Kuro *_* hope they can regen parts, or prosthetics, or I don’t know uwahhhh DDD8 she’s gonna be traumatised now.
The duet was amazing, blew me away with Kayano Ai and Nanjou Yoshino combo to bring back the old song from S1 and in Tsubasa’s face too.
Also it’s Hocchan’s week to be the amazing imouto; first Neptunia and now Symphogear. Give all the transformation scenes to her.

Good call on the symbolism. I was too shocked to even think of it, lol. Someone else pointed out the cracked relic in the OP this episode and I was like… ohhh. Snap.

Hope she gets a robo arm honestly, or something that doesn’t hugely lessen the impact of having a limb severed in the Sympho universe.

Seems like the earlier signs and now this point to Hibiki going berserk mid-season or at least losing her confidence for a while. Any predictions on who, if anyone, is going to end up dead after all is said and done?

I think maybe, MAAAAAAAYBEEEEE that I don’t cater my blog specifically for the type of people who would be pissed at spoilers. This episode came out on Friday and I only blogged this on Sunday night because I wanted the subs.

I don’t want to apologize for putting the spoiler below the jump, because the entire episode boils down to the elephant in the room that is Hibiki losing her arm, and I just didn’t find it in me to not address that at first because of how monumental it was.

I’ve been thinking about the episode itself and how things came to this way since I watched it raw and just had the post pretty much write itself already before the subs came out so I can properly do it with screencaps. If I wanted to “spoil”, I could’ve just done this on Friday morning itself once I watched the episode.

I do write with a certain expectation that people who come here to read my posts are looking for some funny observations or opinions about the show’s development, not to find out what happened in the episode. I’m also looking for a certain level discourse, but it’s not something I expect to get all the time.

My primary reason to blog and keep at it this long is to serve as a record of my thoughts about the show, having it gone for this long and achieve a certain level of readership is just a bonus to that. I am sorry if you feel that somehow reading my blog has caused you to lose any enjoyment of a show, but I’m not going to apologise for my writing style and creative decisions in crafting the post.

I wonder how her arm tasted… Probably delicious.

    @Kurogane Shiroikaze
I didn’t intend to make such a big deal of it. I had actually already watched the episode beforehand. I just thought “what if?”.

Anyway, I figured that I’d just bring it up as a point to consider. Which you have done. Thanks.

Yes, I have considered this issue many times over the years I have been writing this blog. The decision I came to is that this should not be an issue.

I blog with the expectation people who come here to read the posts have already watched the show (logically speaking) and if they haven’t, then probably to check out any of the shows before they make the decision to watch.

So, that boils down to me trying to capture the charm of the episode with my post. My style is very much episodic anyways. I don’t try to judge shows on the basis of one episode, but at the same time, a show should always be consistently good each week, hopefully. If it sucks, I’d either not post it or criticise it.
