Rozen Maiden Zurückspulen 01

Rozen Maiden Zurückspulen

>tfw when you are old enough to remember the original version of this scene

The last time I watched a Rozen Maiden anime, I was just barely out of highschool, Haruhi was the best thing in the entire universe and no one had even heard of “iPhone”. God, I feel so old. And yeah, I was as surprised as anyone when they announced this.

With that said, Zurückspulen is adapting the “second” Rozen Maiden manga which deals with adult Jum Jun, but the first episode basically summarised the “first” manga, marking for a clean break from the anime continuity which I am glad for. Zurückspulen’s art is also a lot more true to the original Peach Pit art as well, which I much prefer over the first two anime designs, now that I’ve seen the episode.

Also Suigintou’s a LOT more cuter in this anime lol

Let us gladly welcome the return of our old doll joint moe overlords \o/

    I was hoping this would be two cour so the first could have covered the original, but they did the best with what they have. It’s good to see the manga art style being used, but the dolls are smaller than what they should be it seems. And hoping this will cause enough people to get interested in RM again that a scan group will pick up the second manga.

    @Netami
    Bara was anime original so she shouldn’t be showing up.

    Don’t want to spoil it if you haven’t read the Tales, but it’s incorrect to say that it deals just with the older Jun.
    This episode was like a long promo, so I prefer to think that the real first one will be the next one. The Tales begin in a way that’s friendly even to those who aren’t familiar with the original manga, it’s only later on that the knowledge of the preceding story becomes a must. For a first time viewer this episode was probably more confusing than the first chapter of the Tales to a first time reader.
    And I also hope that the anime will revive the scanlations, it’s a shame that the manga was abandoned.

    This looks interesting, but do I have to have seen all the other seasons to understand this?

    Previous anime seasons and the original manga have different storylines, and new anime series follows the manga. In other words, watching other seasons can be as confusing as it’s helpful. If you really want to catch up, you’ll have to read the manga.
    That said, the Tales manga that this show is based on does a decent job at making the uninitiated readers able to follow – basically, the MC from the next episode will know as much as the person who just picked the show. By the time when you really need more background knowledge, you should already know if you like the show enough to spend time on the original manga.

    I’m a big Rozen fan so I’ve read both mangas. Nice to see that they bothered to summarise the first part I was thinking they were doing a reboot since the 2nd manga Jun decides to not wind the doll. And Barasuishou was never in the mangas so I don’t think she will appear since Kirakishou has already showed up.
