OreImo

Oh snap, is that sum FINAL BOSS Manami?

OreImo takes an interesting choice to end the TV screening with a flashback to Kirino’s past affection with her brother and how it turned to what it is now. Suffice to say, after this episode I truly think that all the “abuse” Kyosuke got from Kirino all this time? Fully justified from her end. Seriously what a terrible oniichan he was.

The interesting part of the flashback would be finding out Kirino’s “otaku” hobby is pretty much the only thing she has that wasn’t initially inspired by Kyousuke. Studies, track and even the modelling… all part of her attempts to surpass the “old” Kyousuke but the “otaku” hobby is pretty much the only thing she has that’s really hers first.

Man, if this episode aired a lot more earlier…

Well, now there’s the 1 and a half month wait for the last three episodes. Fully expecting some cat fighting there :3

Speaking of which, the freaking ED this week… a Manami-Kirino duet after what happened this week hahahhahahahha

That’s some impressive levels of character assassination, right there.

Not Guilty by Reason of Mental Defect? :) An insanity plea on the case of both Kyousuke & Kirino is the closest answer you can get. haha

You guys should all keep calm and rewatch Yosuga no Sora/Aki Sora.

You’re still watching this, Kuro? ;) … scary!

You should better catch up on Hataraku Maou-sama, if you haven’t already!

    I can’t help myself, it’s just…. such a trainwreck I can’t avert my eyes from.

Already finished Hataraku Maousama too, fun show.

I think OreImo is great, both because there are some real reasons to like it and because even if you hate it, it’s not like because it’s bad that you hate it but rather it’s something you like to hate.

they skip too many part of the LN, but its still enjoyable.
well, i do enjoy Kirino creepy gigling all the time she’s playing the eroge.
have to say that the seiyuu definitely contribute a lot to this show.

not really feel the torture of one month waiting, as Bakemonogatari is coming

    @Giorno

Watches episodes 1, 9-12 YnS on a regular basis here. Haruka belongs to Sora ONLY!
Aki Sora IMO is best read, rather than watching an incomplete anime series.

At the risk of sounding like the anti-Kirino faction – Onii-chan being a complete asshole and no longer loving his imouto is not a reason imouto should abuse onii-chan!

All this while I suspected something changed the siblings’ relationship given when they were younger they were much closer. This episode confirms the suspicion. Manami was alway the final boss. Her aura in one of the Oreimo omake clearly shows this.

No one watches a ‘trainwreck’ and bears with it to the end without at least even subconsciously finding one redeeming feature. Otherwise you’d dump it very soon. As an example: The combined efforts of Ayase, Kirino and Rin in Zettai Bouei Leviathan was completely insufficent to prevent me from dumping it by episode 3. Yandere + Tsundere + precocious Loli in one package and dumped? Preposterous! At the opposite end of the spectrum is Kingdom – terrible art design and in general mediocre but the storyline is an attraction to keep following.

And seriously, she scares the hell out of normal otaku in the store…

Agreed! Heck, Kirino’s crotch-thrusting, speedy mouse-handling skill, and not to mention her giggles makes her into a dangerous siscon otaku!

Honestly I find it amazing that I instantly know what you mean about Zettai Bouei Leviathan, especially Rin = Eri Kitamura. Aren’t you forgetting the pesky HanaKana fairy?
Pity the overall production values of Leviathan are low.
    Yes, indeed, the Aki Sora manga surprisingly had more plot than I thought, their mother’s twin sister that took them all in. ;-;
Hell, I think the only way to know if you’re a lvl 99 otaku is when you creep other normal otaku out.

Most of the games She bought was about Onii san. I think it was somehow a reason to buy those games because of Kyousuke´s lack of attention toward her and replaced it with games. I might be wrong, but there is something there.

Yeah, it feels like she’s using the imouto characters as self-inserts, except because the flashback was done from Kirino’s perspective, she never realises it herself. Or just refuses to even think about the idea or admit it.

  14. Kurogane Shiroikaze Said,

    June 30, 2013 @ 11:35 pm

Well all that pent up love and frustration needs to go somewhere.

Still…. do sisters normally have this much love for their brothers? It’s not Kyousuke is the “sweep your feet away” type of guy. Plus those two are only 2 years apart…

Uh yeah – Like mentioned above, it was specifically the phrase “I love you oniichan~<3" that drew her to her to those mags and that little sister game. So even Kyousuke sparked that one off.

    Hardcore oniicon this imouto….

It took me a while to remember that not everyone finds the above to be the definition of cute. I wonder with all the explanation going on in this episode regarding how Kirino became a siscon, did Ayase start hating otakus for interrupting her private time with Kirino?

    “Fully justified” how?
Kirino placed unreasonable expectations on her brother an when Kyo didn’t meet her high standards anymore, she unilaterally decided to give him the cold shoulder.
How is this justified? I fail to see what Kyousuke did wrong. If he wants to be a slacker, fine. It’s his life, not Kirino’s.

Ugh, sorry show, nearly 2 full seasons of your female lead being a colossal douche and your male lead suddenly turning into a pathetic mess whenever he’s in the same room with her means this episode isn’t enough to turn all of that around.

All my personal opinion, of course, but this is just a blatant attempt at sudden emotional manipulation that, if it were genuine should have been sprinkled about earlier instead of dumping it all on us in the end, from a show that had flashes of genuine entertainment that always just ends up disappointing.

Did not expect Manami to smack Kirino down while smiling like that. Just where did that come from?

  24. Guiltysparkz Said,

It’s funny how the usually boring childhood friend got promoted to most epic character in this show on the pseudo-last episode.
    http://kurogane.animeblogger.net/image/spring2013/oreimo2_13_01.jpg
Then the “The amazing Onii-chan you admired never existed in the first place, Kirino-chan.”. All that while holding the same smiling expression is the definition one hit overkill, in a good way.

  25. Fighterdoken Said,

So, it’s the difference between Manami wanting the guy for who he is, or Kirino wanting him for who he was/she wants him to be.

I’ll still root for Manami ending even if that never happends, which is why i haven’t watched oreimo past the first season.

@ Giorno Giovanna: Why not? She’s still cute, even if her competition is all model-quality. And Satou Satomi’s voice is cute.

Also, I suspect a certain Hyocorou doujin might have something to do with it.

From her end. She was the one that placed high expectations and got letdown by herself.
I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or not, but terrible oniichan, seriously? I’d say he was way better than the average oniichan. :|
You don’t have a little sister, do you? :P
Sorry if you actually are being sarcastic though.

Also, Manami always -ALWAYS- annoyed the fuck outta me, you can kinda guess my opinion after this episode.
