SUNNNNNNNNNNRIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Kakumeiki Valvrave

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH NOT KAYANON!!!!!!!!!!

Godfuckingdammit, Sunrise. Why do you hate the good girls so much? I still remember Shirley, fuck you. And this is even worse because we just barely got to know Aina. And now? She’s collateral damage. HOW INDIGNANT.

Shit just gets weirder and weirder too with this week’s Valvrave starting with a FLASH FORWARD 214 years(?) ahead, where the Valvraves got a Hyakushiki makeover and the Space Nazis have been ruling. This brings in to a lot of weird SPECULAH possibilities with the Valvraves, Haruto, L-Elf and co. with α and β timelines possibilities coming in to play. Is that why L-Elf is precognizant? It can’t be because he’s…. right?

Kakumeiki Valvrave

Seriously, when does she get to appear?

Kakumeiki Valvrave

Saki sure looks pretty good for a 214 year old!

Kakumeiki Valvrave

What if Valvrave-tan is Future!Haruto?

I guess anything goes with Sunrise at this point….

    Showing Aina’s corpse is just Sunrise making sure everyone understand she’s dead, unlike Shouko’s “SHES NOT DEAD IF THERES NO BODY” nonsense from the first episode.

    Shoko is too important to die.

    I just hope Yuki Kaji enjoyed it as much as we did. It’s certainly cathartic seeing one of his characters knock off one of Ai Kayano’s characters. Might even make up for all the Mikono-Sans.

    Anyway.. Either the guy gonna be the next Valvrave pilot or maybe letting Aina on the Valvrave, push the button, which brings her back to life by turning her to a space vampire.

    I’m seriously amazed at how fast they killed her off. I don’t mean story wise either. Seriously, if you blink you’ll miss it. That’s how freaking fast she was killed. It really made it pointless for her appearance. I mean, I saw the foreshadowing of her death, but I thought it would have been done more meaningful. Instead it was just like, wrong place wrong time. Well, I guess we can’t count out the fact that she could be revived but I doubt it. This is Sunrise after all. ^^;

    “Why couldn’t they lift that beam on Haruto’s leg? There was no gravity in that hangar.”

    Even without gravity you still have mass and resting inertia and they would need to impart enough force to overcome that inertia.

    correct me if im wrong; I realize that the steel beam still has mass and resting inertia, but even taking that into consideration, shouldnt the acting force of the beam be reduced due to low gravity in the hanger (Sum of F=ma, or in this case F=mg). Something still doesn’t add up; its too convenient for the plot.

  27. Guthrie Said,

    May 25, 2013 @ 3:28 am

    The second they started putting all this focus on her I was all, “Hey, who the hell is this? I barely remember her being in the series.” And then she gets all these lines and she starts showing she’s attracted to the MC out of nowhere, and it dawns on me, “Oh they are going to kill the hell out of her.” So I was not shocked whatsoever at the end.

    The problem is that Inertia is not a force but simply the tendency of an object to resist a change in whatever state of motion it currently has. The more mass an object has, the more sluggish it is towards change.

    Rather than using F=ma you could look at it as a=F/m where the acceleration of an object is determined by the force imparted on it and it’s mass. You want to accelerate the beam from it’s resting state but since the beam has a lot of mass you need a lot of force to reach that necessary acceleration.

    In zero G the only benefit to lifting a large beam would be the lack of gravity pulling it back down, you would still need to impart enough force into the beam to counter it’s resting inertia.

    @Qwert
    Physics in a Sunrise show? Well, if we really want to look into it, then let’s see. We can safely assume that a trained person can apply, say, 500N of force for several seconds. The beam is hardly over 2 tons, so going by Fdt=mdV, just in one second its velocity should be 0.25 m/s. You really need to shift it by several cm’s, so that should be plenty. Moreover, it will continue to move, so if you have several seconds to spare, even heavier stuff can be moved with a lesser effort.

    Space Nazis ruling over 200 years? I guess they took a page from Romans and not actual Nazis and Britannia. Which means no wanton destruction and genocide just to show RAWR WE ARE EVIL.

  31. sonicsenryaku Said,

    May 25, 2013 @ 11:45 am

    @ dakkar

    my point exactly; and lets not forget that on average, some of these steel beams only weigh about 600 pounds; I think that’s the weight of an average I-steel beam (correct me if im wrong). The resting inertia of a steel-beam like that should be able to be overcome; hell i can push a 600 pound weigh

  32. Dakkar Said,

    May 25, 2013 @ 1:33 pm

    @sonicsenryaku
    When we talk about pushing weight, we usually have work/power in mind, here it’s more about an amount of force you can exercise continuously (think stopping half-way and holding the weight for some time). Pretty much, as long as you have a solid surface to press against, you can move almost anything, it’s just about the difference in speed it moves at. Otherwise, it’s always possible to say that the beam is made from ultra-heavy material.
    Another funny point is how none of the debris that was flying around has bounced off the walls/floor. Metal doesn’t compress much, so if all that stuff was flying back in forth without loosing much impulse…ouch.

  33. sonicsenryaku Said,

    May 25, 2013 @ 2:39 pm

    @Dakkar

    true; and lets not forget, it requires less force to continuously accelerate something than the force it takes to just get an object moving. The inertia of a beam like that could have been imparted by the great L-elf and then moved away without too much difficulty. Oh valvare, your still a joy to watch. i dont even care that logic or science gets thrown out the window (this is an anime after all) but all i know is that something didnt add up in that particular scene. At least this scene didnt bring as much rage as that infamous scene in Robotics;notes (which by the way a lot of those naysayers did not properly watch that scene…but now im getting off track)

  34. Dio Said,

    May 25, 2013 @ 3:49 pm

    Since the discussion has moved on physics there are a couple detail at have not been included. The first thing is that the beam could be jammed by other beams, thus making it difficult to move it, but this is an assumption that would need more detail to be verified. The second and much more important detail is that in zero gravity is very hard to apply force, the reason is that our L-elf is a powerful precog soldier, but if he wants to push the steel beam he needs a surface where to stand, this is pretty impossible to do in zero gravity unless he could crawl between the beam and a wall, or the beam and the floor, but from we could see there was not enough space between the beam and the floor for him to crawl inside and push the beam. Therefore even if he is able to exert the force necessary to move the beam, without a fixed point to keep him still he would simply move himself, as his inertia would be lower than the beam’s.

  39. Dakkar Said,

    @sonicsenryaku
    Actually, no, you have to continuously apply the same force to maintain acceleration, unless the mass is changing in the process, of course. It’s not the static/kinetic friction case. But the longer you apply the force, the greater the velocity will be.
    Well, this show is clearly a fiction, not a sci-fi, but it’s still funny how hard it is to process all the implications of the zero g environment.

    @Dio
    Jammed in this case would mean that there’s also a force of friction to consider. Which is actually proportional to the force you push the beams/debris against each other as you try to move it, and is clearly less than that force. Moreover, the beam will also play the role of a lever, just pivoting around the point it’s stuck at.
    The fact that a person is jammed between the beam and something also implies that there’s something to push against to move them apart. And his leg can’t be completely flattened, so there should be at least enough space to put your fingers. Once again, gravity plays such a fundamental role in our environment, that it’s not easy to casually imagine how the things are if it’s not there.

  40. feannatar Said,

    Ugh, physics discussion. No point, it’s messed up altogether. Unless there’s been local error in gravity generator (how the hell does one create gravity inside everywhere *but* docks anyway — do they have free access to some kind exotic “matter” with negative energy-mass tensor in the future?), lifting a several tons beam is a rather simple task as outlined by fine lads above. Since this is anime I’m more concerned about the fact that L-Elf seems to be the only one who uses his brain… Aina wouldn’t have been collateral damage (most likely) had there been more people using their brains in New JIOR. Also, people are suggesting putting her in Valvrave — I wonder more about the take-over possibility. Is the healing ability attached physically to the body, or does it “travel” alongside the consciousness? Would Haruto’s takeover over Aina (in sufficiently short amount of time after death) “resurrect” her?

    Also, where the hell did you got an uncensored version? On MBS (gg) there’s stuff blocking her wound (detached hand).
