Suisei no Gargantia 07

Suisei no Gargantia

Ledo ( ´Д`)…..

I was almost sad how predictable things turned out to be in this episode, with the revelation the whalesquids are Hideauze and that the locals worship them as sacred and that Ledo would embark on the route of hamartia to do what he thinks is the “right” thing to do; to kill them all no matter the cost. Comparisons with a memorable quote from Avatar have been duly noted as well.

The second half of the episode was quite nerve-wracking too. I was almost expecting casualties to happen but luckily, nothing of the sort materialized. And now, we’re on to the next big conflict, as the foolhardy Pinion tries to take advantage of the situation, but we all know that’s not going to end well.

On the bright side, the Butcher Bingo finally gets updated this week!

Suisei no Gargantia

3 new boxes crossed in one episode! The whalesquids count as eldritch abominations, don’t they?

You missed explosions. There definitely were explosions.

Excuse me… why isn’t “lesbians” crossed out? Have we forgotten the pirate lord and her two female slaves? You know, the one who wanted to make Bellows a slave as well?

“Explosives” not “Explosions”. And I’m not considering those since “Explosives” isn’t a plot thing yet, like Homura’s way to use explosives to supplement her abilities.

And “lesbians”, oh c’mon… those three only appeared for ONE episode. And they aren’t even major characters yet!

Not going to go well? After all the recent depressing episodes that Ledo and Chamber spent confined in the alien environment, being used and abused in ways unnatural for them (manual labor, gay assaults, use as a cooking utensils, etc.), we can finally see the light in the end of tunnel, so I’m all hopeful for future developments.

At the same time, Ledo’s attitude toward Hideauze is totally uncivilized! They might look a bit different, but that is no reason for discrimination! There’s a clear ground for him being charged with hate crime.

Shouldn’t “eldritch abominations” have been crossed way back at the first episode?

End card link refers to Himuro Kiseki’s site, but art somehow feels different.

Well…. don’t look at me, unless there’s another artist with the EXACT SAME KANJI as above, I’m pretty sure the site linked is his site.

Anyone notice the world map in Rigett’s office? Looks like there is some dry land left after all (am guessing are the Rockies, Himalayas and somewhere else in China?)

    My heart skipped a beat when Chamber pointed out that the Galactic Alliance did not comprehend “co-existence”. There was a Nazi-like vibe to it and I could feel Butcher Gen looming at that moment ;_;

Kyoson kyoei however was also heavily used by the Japanese to justify the Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere.

Someone said Ledo went back in time when the Hideauze still coexisted with humans, and it was him who caused this war :p
It sounds pretty plausible; I still hope tight hope on a happy ending.

When the right-hand guy decides to leave Gargantia with his substantial fleet of ships to the surprise of the Commodore?

From the moment of the whalesquid appearing at the end of Ep 6, I knew Gen had arrived. It was the mocking laughter in the back of my head, you see.
