My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU 05

Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru

Totally using that excuse the next time I’me late for an appointment.

Lots of fanservice in this episode…

Um yeah, pretty nice episode with all the random fanservice outfits and stuff. But lol at the joshikousei bartender plot. I guess it’s not as awesome as the middle-schooler bartender manga though.

And Hikki finally makes a girl cry.

It’s kinda funny, but I don’t hate him at all for doing that… I guess it’s probably because I can see where’s he going by doing that. Really, the worst part about watching this show is sometimes seeing it hit home waaaaay too near for comfort.

Liking the new ED for this week.

Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru

Hope they make this the real ED.

    I swear this should be a yuri b/w the two main girls instead.

    Random brown-haired, green dress girl in the background of the evening gown shot is pretty hot too.

    My hatred for Yukino grows every single episode.

    Too bad it’s going to get worse before 8man achieves a happy ending.

    Is it wrong to say I like characters like Yozora and Yukinon that establish a club for loners that believe people should help themselves, and first response to any haters or dissenting opinions is to crush the opposition?

    Yes, it is wrong. Now go stand at the corner.

    “My hatred for Yukino grows every single episode.”
    My love for Yukino grows every single episode.
    Especially when she plays with cats and smiles and purrs!

    OH WAIT. WRONG SHOW.
    What is the corner without Yozora and Yukinon like?
    The corner where MEAT and Yui run away in tears?

    I remembering hating those types of “kind girls” when I was a teenager.

    Urgh. That part of the episode was definitely too close for comfort.

    @ What?
    What did she do to you this episode? Nyaa…

    Besides, she’s similar to Yozora but is not quite. Yozora is a bitch because she can and is. Yukinon seems to have better reasons and her harshness is a way to protect herself like Hikigaya’s loner ways.

    Dunno why people say Yukinon == Yozora.

    While both are similar in their awkwardness in dealing with other people, Yozora is approaching people with malicious or selfish intents most of the time. Even the whole “club” she made was done just because she only wanted to “reconnect” back with her childhood friend/crush, and yet she somehow still never manages to do it right.

    On the other hand, Yukinon is in a club that actively tries to help people with problems. While she is blunt, she never gives off a feeling of hating people entirely. Sure, she is extra harsh on Hachiman, but after this week’s episode, do you think her approach to him seems to be carefully handled?

    What would you think would’ve happened if Yukino had treated Hachiman “kindly” and maintained a “nice” approach to him? He would just flip out and fight back even harder. As it is, because she’s constantly trading barbs with him, Hachiman seems to be feel even more at home in the club compared to having a “kind” Yukino.

    She never really pushes away other people too, no matter how “disgusting” they might seem. Look, she actually spent a sleepless night reading through a LN draft written by an chuunibyou amateur writer and honestly gave out constructive criticism and opinions. That isn’t something many people can and would be willing to do for a random person.

    @ Kurogane
    Damn. Well said. I was getting tired of trying to explain
    Yukino != Yozora

    Could I quote you on that?

    Just to add, I think people usually allow their first impression to affect them so much. It’s similar to how most people have really bad impression of Louise from Tsukaima and as a result, any character that looks like her and acts somewhat similar to her will get heavy bashing right from the start even though it’s clearly shown that the situation is quite different as well as the character’s “similarity” is very very tame compared to the crazy Louise.

    There’s also the problem of projecting oneself onto the protagonist too much…

    I stitch them using Microsoft Image Composite Editor.

    I was only saying that partially to draw similarities between two and partially wanting to see people’s difference in perception of the two.
    Anti social male lead, strong isolated club leader, glasses otaku, trap character, little sister “who doesn’t mind changing in front of him.”
    Hachiman =/= Kodaka
    Yozora =/= Yukinon
    Hachiman =/= Rika
    Saika =/= Yukimura
    Komachi =/= Kobato
    I really wonder what led to the increase of anime with antisocial male leads specifically.

    I really wonder what led to the increase of anime with antisocial male leads specifically.

    Because antisocial male otaku are their largest market, and these anime tend to be set in an ideal fantasy world that’s close to reality, but has the antisocial male lead slowly gather attractive friends and love interests around him without having to do much? Friends and love interests, things that the antisocial male otaku never had a chance to have in real life?

    It’s an escape for the ronery male otaku, and it’s pandering directly to them. Probably why I like these things to much. Now excuse me while I go cry in the corner.

  19. Giorno Giovanna Said,

    May 4, 2013 @ 3:25 pm

    Great, I got the desired response after saying “specifically”!
    That it’s all pandering to the idea that being antisocial and distant from the society makes you the main character.
    By the way, anymore room in that corner for me to join you crying?

    Yukinon != Yozora… but Yukinon still is a bitch in my book

    I’m amused by the fact that every single one of Yukino’s plans are terrible and never work :)

  22. Kurogane Shiroikaze Said,

    May 5, 2013 @ 8:03 pm

    That’s another part I find awesome about this show. Yukino isn’t a totally unbalanced character.

    Sure, she has the looks and the attitude, but in the end, all these problems are something that Hachiman, with a more cynical and down-to-earth eye, solves easily.

    Once you’re used to doing things alone, having someone to help you can feel pretty strange.
    I think I know how he feels. Most of the time I’d say “that’s ok, I’ll be fine” and keep doing things alone.
