Girls und Panzer 12

Girls und Panzer

GIRLS RIDING TANKS DRIVING IN TO THE SUNSET BACK TO THEIR GIANT SCHOOL-SHIP CARRIER. WHY CAN’T MORE ANIME END SO PERFECTLY AS THIS?

Time to pay tribute to the heroines that fearlessly and boldly provided us with so much tanoshii over the past few months.

Girls und Panzer

Hetzer’s gonna hetz. Poor Maus never stood a chance.

Girls und Panzer

OH SHIT CAP’N MARIKA ON BOARD. NO WAY WE CAN LOSE WITH THAT SWAG BEHIND US.

Girls und Panzer
1st years tank jousting with the Jagdtiger was amazing. The mortification of two heavy tank destroyers getting taken out by an outgunned-when-it-was-first-deployed tank wwww

Girls und Panzer

YOU SHALL NOT PASS!

Tiger(P) holding the line against Kuromorimine was worthy of a medal o7o7o7o7o7

Girls und Panzer

Amazing DORIFUTO match-ender is truly the stuff of legends. Automobile Club girls must be pretty jealous too.

Girls und Panzer

Anzu taking the first bite. Look at how jelly Yukari is!

Mako x Sodoko OTP 4TW!

Girls und Panzer

Awww…. they referenced Little Army here.

Girls und Panzer

Three cheers for the champions!

Girls und Panzer

Surprising! Even Shiho is actually clapping for them! Guess she’s going “Looks like blood can’t lie”.

Girls und Panzer

Panzer Vor for life.

I have to admit, I came on to Girls und Panzer with almost negative expectations that this would just be some pandering anime trying to appeal to a niche audience using very specific jokes, fanservice scenes and generally zero storyline other than to push things to another week. Yes, I’m talking about you, Upotte! fans.

Instead what I got was one of the best 12 episodes of original anime ever made. Combining a ludicrous setting with a giant cast of characters, rarely forgettable and almost all likable, along with great action scenes and a true appreciation of the specialist topics the show thrives in, Girls und Panzer made for an unforgettable ride from start to finish. To tie it all neatly together was a simple, yet easy to follow story of a bunch of underdogs fighting to save something important to them, achieving glory in the process.

The icing on top of the cake that is Girls und Panzer is how charming everything is. They say the devil is in the details and once you start to delve into Garupan lore, everything makes amazingly great sense. Combine that with the individual quirks of the girls, the tanks, the world setting etc etc…. everything just seems to charmingly fun. It truly makes you want to be in the world that Garupan is set in. And then you realize you will never be able to experience the tanoshii personally and the world just seems a little bit darker every day…..

In short, watch Garupan if you haven’t yet, goddamnit! And if you’ve already did, o7. Now I will patiently await for the inevitable second season announcement. They can’t possibly let the tanoshii stop here!

I didn’t realize that Mako x Sodoko image was a gif. See Saori, childhood friends always lose to the tsundere love interest.

This episode was just full of gif’able moments…. I actually had to limit myself to those two gifs so people won’t be downloading 30mb every time the post is loaded.

The first two BDs sold about 30,000 copies each. The third one comes out tomorrow and I bet it does the same. With sales at that rate, a sequel is pretty much guaranteed.

    Regarding the drifting .gif

Move over Tatewaki Fujiwara, there is a new anime Drift King, and she outweighs your car by 24 tons!

I did not watch Girls und Panzer. Yes, I wrote it off as another Upotte without even taking a first look. For a few weeks I rolled my eyes whenever I saw someone enthusing over the series.

Then a few weeks ago all the positive chatter caused me to take a look. I think I was finished with the first ten episodes just a couple of days later.

You found the series’ secret: The icing on top of the cake that is Girls und Panzer is how charming everything is.

I want a season 2 so I can further understand what darkness this girl carries.
What exactly does she see in those empty eyes…

It truly makes you want to be in the world that Garupan is set in.

You’re not the only one. Attendance at the Oarai Anglerfish Festival doubled this year, due to all the GuP fans. The town is full of GuP merch. GuP artwork is on trains, buses, and in shop windows. There’s talk of bringing in a real tank.

The scenes in Oarai are real places, down to the vending machines at Oarai Station. Even the route they take from the station to the carrier dock in the ending is the real route. The town loves it.

They need the publicity; Oarai’s docks got hammered in the tsunami, which set back fishing and tourism for a while.
