Boku ha Tomodachi ga Sukunai NEXT

Finally realizing how much of a lucky sod you are, eh Kodaka?

Movie shooting finally starts, but this episode pretty much deals with the bomb that’s been building up over the past few episodes, namely Sena and Kodaka’s engagement. Which apparently comes complete with contracts signed via thumb prints! And poor Pegasus-san thought he had it easy too since he misunderstood Sena’s intention to make Kobato her imouto as going out with Kodaka wwwwwww

Well, basically the engagement part got cleared up but….

Speaking of which, can’t believe they are actually adding in ANOTHER girl at this stage of the show. Bloody hoping she’s not gonna be another harem contender for Kodaka.

Latest translated part of the light novels makes me rage so hard at Kodaka. Stupid cowardly no-good bum.

“Bloody hoping she’s not gonna be another harem contender for Kodaka”

Well, didn’t she say that he was handsome, cool and shit? If anything I’d say she is the only one having the ballz to be the top candidate in his harem.

He just should make Meat his waifu and end this story, no one needs an useless girl like Yozora anyway…

Yozara is pretty useless this season. She’s been nothing but negative this season, I think her screentime is getting taken by Rika. I wonder if the author doesn’t like her anymore? Kinda like Kirino in Oreimo.

Sena on the other hand has been awesome and has been getting tonnes of screentime.

And Kate is a nun right? He can hardly be a harem candidate with that.

AAAWH, that childhood picture was so cute! :3
And yeah, Yozara has been kinda useless, I agree.

Lol so much bias for the fanservice character who does nothing as well and hasn’t changed one bit from her mentality of “People I don’t care about doesn’t exist”.

  6. Chaos2Frozen Said,

    March 9, 2013 @ 8:09 am

Yozora has two major scenes dedicated to her early this season, both the homugame movie and the otome game among others so no her scene time is not less.

Sena has a crap ton of shiptease and fanservice so natural it’s a more lasting impression for those who watches harem series for the harem.

Rita is the glue that binds it altogether and in some ways the ideal ‘plot device’ character, but her screentime is as normal.

  7. OverMaster Said,

    March 9, 2013 @ 9:23 am

    “People I don’t care about doesn’t exist”.

Only caring about some is still better than Yozora’s not caring about anyone at all’s feelings.

  8. Chaos2Frozen Said,

    March 9, 2013 @ 9:57 am

You say that, but yet she gets along well with Rika, even apologizing for saying bad things about her taste when proven wrong.

  9. OverMaster Said,

    March 9, 2013 @ 10:12 am

Well, even that’s mostly because she can’t find any openings on Rika, who has no actual weaknesses Yozora can/is willing to exploit, and poses no romantic threat on Yozora’s eyes either. And because Rika is easy to get along with without being a doormat like Yukimura.

Still, the likes of Maria and Sena don’t get along badly with Rika either, so it’s not like that’s any social edge Yozora has on them anyway.

  10. Chaos2Frozen Said,

    March 9, 2013 @ 10:28 am

You’re back pedaling- your original statement was that Yozora don’t care about anyone’s feelings but I’ve already shown you proof that she respects Rika enough to admits her mistake, twice.

It’s funny how things turn out though; Yozora’s intention for starting this club was to get close to Kodaka while Sena’s intention for joining this club was to make friends with other girls. But now Sena ends up getting closer to Kodaka while Yozora was the one that gains the respect of the other girls. Rika is her BL-fan buddy, Yukimura sees her as the ‘closest a woman can be to a man’, and Kobato views her as the ‘dark one’ who also protects her from Sena and Maria.

  11. moridin84 Said,

    March 9, 2013 @ 10:39 am

Yozora and Sena both have horrible opinions, especially towards girls, at everyone outside of their little circle, that hasn’t changed since the start of the show. Neither ‘win’ in that respect.

  12. Chaos2Frozen Said,

    March 9, 2013 @ 11:21 am

True, however it doesn’t mean that we should dismiss it for Sena.

Remember people, according to Rika, a Kodaka X Rika pairing is completely different from a Rika X Kodaka pairing.

  16. What? Said,

Can’t wait for the inevitable “hurry up and pick someone” conversation coming from Sena and Yozora who are now clearly tired of his shit.

    And then timeskip.

All this time Yozora thought she didn’t have to do anything to win Kodaka’s attention, maybe on the sly here and there but she ruins the atomsphere, she bullies Sena and Maria and always doing things that she thinks is right for the neighbours group, everyone puts in the effort but HER when it goes up in her face, I.E wearing tracksuits, going home if its too crowded or just being sulley cause Sena earns Kodaka’s attention.

She thought she didnt have to do anything because shes the childhood friend so therefore SHE deserves Kodaka. Well all thats blown in her face now cause Sena was the first girl Kodaka interacted with. Serves her right

“You’re back pedaling- your original statement was that Yozora don’t care about anyone’s feelings but I’ve already shown you proof that she respects Rika enough to admits her mistake, twice.”

I don’t backpedal. And even with Rika, it’s more like Yozora knows she can’t take advantage of her, more than actually caring about her.

Any hint Yozora may actually care about others to a meaningful point is either an extreme exception, immediately undone by another one of her selfish acts pulled on whims, or both.

It doesn’t mean Sena is a saint either, naturally, but I haven’t ever said that. Just that as terribly bad as she is, she’s still no Yozora.

In regards to the sena vs yozora debate on who has the worse personality, i think it’s a matter of perspective. And i want to get this out of the way now; i think yozora’s personality is a lot less bearable, but not because I favor Sena; it’s because if you were to measure the magnitude of their treatment of others, yozora’s sins outweigh Sena’s, at least in my opinion. See, the problem with Yozora is that she is just too damn spiteful and insecure; she judges others purely based on opinion and views them negatively based on her spite. There have been many instances of this in the first season when she shows utter disdain towards others because they seem to possess certain things she doesnt. It is because of that spite is what makes Yozora have an ugly personality.

See, that’s the key word that makes Yozora far worse than Sena…that and she’s a bully, which we all know is terrible; so to wrap up Yozora’s problem, she is spiteful and a bully. I understand why Yozora is who she is today, but at some point she has to change, which is the point the author is trying to make to the audience. Now this doesnt mean i hate Yozora’s presence in the show; If I ever met her in real life would i hate her? Hell the fuck yes, but seeing how negative she is towards society provides a great deal of the comedy in this series, which i find hilarious. Yozora is a central part of the show and it is arguably because of her attitude that we can appreciate the personality of the other girls in the club.

Sena on the other hand doesnt go out of her way to hurt others, she just has a super high opinion of herself (which sometimes borders on narcissism) which makes her look down on others. She doesnt actually hate people, she just lives by a certain philosophy which she also applies to the people that surround her. When it comes to girls her attitude is “you either like me or you dont;if you do, we’re cool, if you dont, fuck off i dont time for you”..that type of thinking inst necessarily bad (you tend to avoid more drama that way). When it comes to boys, because they always did whatever she said, she never respected them. That’s not to say that’s a positive thing, but she doesnt naturally go out of her way to disrespect people.

And even when she and Yozora were at odds, she had always let her guard down with Yozora in the hopes that they could connect, such as the time they went to the beach, or when she let her play with her hair, or when she got her fortune told by her. To wrap up, Sena doesnt go out of her way to hate people; as narcissitic as she can seem to be, Sena has proven that she has a sense of maturity and can think rationally. She realizes that people arent going to like her but she doesnt let that bother her…she lives her life by her own philosophy and focuses only on the things that matter to her and i can respect that, im all for that. There’s more positive in Sena’s personality than Yozora’s in my opinion and that has nothing to do with who i prefer. If i met Sena in real life, would her high-and mighty personality bug me? hell yes, but at least i wouldnt have trouble seeing her as a good person. Yozora on the other hand would be a more difficult task to see the good in her personality, regardless of her talents.

    Holy crap.

  25. OverMaster Said,

Yozora works as the ‘Token Evil Teammate’ of sorts, the group’s jerk in a comedy, like Tomo is in Azumanga Daioh, or Daffy in the new Looney Tunes Show. Were Haganai still a plain pure comedy, I’d have no issues with her role in it. I laughed along with her bitchery early in the series.

The problem is, as the series makes a slow and not always graceful from its early comedy towards a more romantic bent, Yozora proves she makes a horrible romantic heroine, because romantic protagonists have to be appealing to the viewer as someone you could, to some degree or another, see yourself falling for in real life. All of Haganai’s characters have that problem to some level, which is why I say the shipping aspects don’t come out that nicely, but Yozora has its worst because she’s too tied to her jerkass roots, both in universe and in the meta context.

Haganai is basically a parrot wanting to become an eagle at this point. It has charismatic characters for a Cast of Jerks and idiots comedy, but their reluctance to actually develop hurts the series as it becomes more oriented towards the actual relationships. This affects everyone, but mostly Yozora and Kodaka, since they still are stupidly blind to what friendship truly means; putting actual effort of your own, often expecting no reward, for people you happen to like. Yozora still acts as if a friend is something that falls from the sky on you, and Kodaka is pathetically passive and unwilling to take actual compromises in human relationships beyond his safety zone. And unlike others, they don’t have the excuses of being actually dense (Sena’s case), too young to know better (Maria’s) or broken beyond basic social measures (Yukimura).

This narrows the chances of ever getting a good payoff, since at this point you find yourself doubting these guys can ever actually change for good without a Deus Ex Machina.

  27. Bear Said,

While the Yozora hate is palpable here, let me point out that the only people she’s gone after are ones that got up in her face first. She messed with Yukimura but never attacked her nor Rika. She’s gone after Maria and Sena and they’re both spoiled brats. As for Sena, besides her obvious snotty attitude, does everyone remember she’s a borderline pedophile that scares the shit out of Kobato? She’s no better than Yozora, just different. Frankly, Kate or even Aoi would be better than either one of the leads.
