Tamako Market 09

Tamako Market

HNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGHHHHH Mamedai why are you so moe?!!

What the hell, KyoAni? It’s supposedly the loli’s episode but her dad is the moe one?! Seriously, Mamedai is so HNNNNGGGHHHH….

I’ll be honest, the Anko parts were pretty damn terrible since she’s not being endearing the least… half the time she was on-screen I was kinda tempted to grab her by the shoulders and shout at her “YOU’RE TOO DAMN YOUNG TO BE SO DEPRESSED ABOUT THIS!!!!”. Yeah, her emo-ness is pretty dang annoying.

That’s not to say the episode was bad. Once you exclude all the parts about Anko, the rest were pretty nice. We got to see Tamako’s mother (who is basically Tamako only more ojou and tone-deaf www) and of course all the parts with Mamedai were great as well. Choi’s totally fit in to the Kitashirakawa household too, but I wonder if she’s trying to fatten them with that glorious breakfast. Kanna was generally brilliant throughout, from her declaration to usurp the Baton Club captaincy to her mochi moulding and pounding skills… still don’t get why she isn’t getting her own episode. And of course, congratulations to Mochizou! Tamako actually remembered his birthday! And speaking of Tamako, she’s surprisingly not so dense this week too.

All in all, I’d say a pretty nice enough episode, even if the main focus ended up losing to the other plot threads in this episode.

Tamako Market

And this show needs to make a documentary of Choi’s hometown rituals

What’s up with the Anko hate :( I thought the way Mochizou handled Anko was pretty cute too. Or the way Tamako interacted with the two of them. Or how Choi always gets her way with Dera.

If there’s any down marks in my book it is how the “side” characters all had to have some schtik so they stand out, like Choi’s dancing or Kanna’s hammering. These people aren’t important to this week’s episode but they were in it anyway.

@Omo: If animes out there only focus on the supposed “lead” characters, it will be very boring to watch (e.g let’s follow School Rumble’s Tsukamoto Tenma 24/7 and ignore the less important characters!).

I like this week’s episode. So that’s all we are getting about the song eh…turned out to be less than what I expected, but tsundad’s reaction to Tamako barging in on him from time to time again was pretty nice. “I like this shop’s mochi!” “I.I LOVE YOU!” Well, that escalated quickly…

I’ll never have the daughter of a mochi-maker giving me a mochi cake for my birthday T.T

@Chris: It “escalated quickly” because her dad’s name is Mamedai and he misheard her say that she “loves this shop’s mamedaifuku,” which is a type of mochi. So to respond, he confessed his feelings… but it ended in an awkward Nichijou kind of way.

But yes this was by far the best episode of the show so far, for me anyway.

Woah, Mamedai’s seiyuu isn’t that bad as a singer actually…

But yeah, KyoAni can make everything moe and it will feel just right… somehow.

On the other notes: THAT GODDAMN SWIMMING AD!

What are you trying to pull here, KyoAni?

Obviously expanding their income stream to include the fujoshi segment.

It’s unexpected for Keiji Fujiwara to sing this good! Good episode!

As for Mochizou, I’m glad someone remembers his birthday.

Hey, I’m back from not reading this blog for a while and decided to stop being a lurker and comment. This may be a stupid question, but I haven’t seen or heard about this series before and I like it’s artstyle. So what is this series about in short, if you guys don’t mind me asking?

Daniel, if you don’t want snarky misleading remarks you should go watch the first episode yourself or atleast look at wikipedia or something. Asking random people always ends badly.

This week’s loli subplot seemed a bit… generic. Too predictable and didn’t really do much… Except now the NTR rating of next comiket’s doujinshis decreased by 60%!

It is all in kyoni’s plan to turn all the moetards into Yaoi lovers.

For a moment I was confused why Dera woke up suddenly after the cassette playback until I remembered he works as a projector. Problem is where did they stick the cassette in him…

They played it from a tape deck and ran the video output through him?
