Hahahahaha Rikaaaaaaaa!!!!! One step forward, ten steps back eh?

Boku ha Tomodachi ga Sukunai NEXT

Oshi…!!!

Man, is it too late to get on board the Rika train? As much as I hate to admit it, she’s been the best Haganai this season thus far with all antics ranging from helping Yozora tease Meat to legitimately molesting Yukimura. Not to mention that she’s really been the most proactive about trying to get in to Kodaka’s pants good books. Sorta seeing why zaitcev is such a staunch fan of her….

    Putting all personal comments that Yozora is best girl with Rika in 2nd, especially after reading way ahead in the novels to Yozora and Kodaka watching a sex film together, is the next episode title a parody of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure as well?
    Or do I have my JoJo goggles on?

    Rika was epic this ep, her reactions to Yozora playing the otome game were priceless too. I used to be feel quite meh about her but this episode changed my opinion entirely.

    Seems everything is unbreakable these days, except laser beams, you can easily kick those away.
    And that’s getting an anime as well? Looks good.

    I seriously hope they start some actual Yozora character development in the wake of the revelation this week.

    I really am getting sick and tired of her these last couple of episodes, what with her general bitchiness, maladjustment, and b/s. Now they’re going to make her jealousy a weekly thing?

    She’s probably the least appealing female lead this entire season for me.

    …hm…split toenail painful?

    Hrm, good episode. The Mayo Chiki cameo was kinda hilarious :D Also, the blond twin tails — doesn’t she look like Mina Tepes? The girls are all so good in their own way that I’m starting to lean towards the harem route. But yeah, Rika’s totally awesome!

    Yozora has great concern for people she considers to be friends. Some incidents with her are really just funny misunderstandings.

    She actually was looking forward to being friends with Maria until she was insulted, then while grabbing some candy for her, accidentally ended up hitting Maria since she came way too close, so she decided to just go along with it and play the villain. Later, she felt bad and decided to provide Maria with more snacks in the meantime.
    Like an entire closet worth.

    Skribulous, I wonder what lead you to post a comment here in the first place other than being a douche.

    And really guys, don’t complain on Yozora this late in the game. She’s been an ass since the start. Though if I heard the novel readers right she will get what’s coming for her eventually.

  14. OverMaster Said,

    February 10, 2013 @ 11:23 pm

    The thing with Yozora is, okay, she started an ass, fine, but she hasn’t improved a damn bit. At first it was amusing, but bitchy characters can get annoying quick if they don’t start changing for the better.

  16. Zavie Said,

    If she is not nice and sweet, then what is she? Selfish and mean? Can you say that you want a girl like that?

  17. Chaos2Frozen Said,

    February 11, 2013 @ 9:11 am

    What I mean is that she’s not perfectly nice and sweet, but doesn’t mean she’s completely selfish and mean either, unlike what people have be purposefully trying to deny.

  18. Chaos2Frozen Said,

    February 11, 2013 @ 9:33 am

    To throw in some examples; she got along fine with both Rika and Kobato, and while she does trick Yukimura she has never antagonized her- so I guess that’s a 50/50 ?

    Plus in this season she has admitted to be wrong in her opinion of Rika’s choice of entertainments and has in fact thanked her for sharing it.

    Whether you want to accept or deny this reality is up to you of course; I’ve sworn myself off trying to change people’s mind on the internet… Or at least, minimize it.

  19. Dawn Said,

    February 11, 2013 @ 2:12 pm

    The only type of girl you want has to be nice and sweet 24/7?
    I prefer a girl that’s a little more realistic and tries hard to accomplish what she wants through subtle means, like trying to make Yukimura less appealing.
    I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a level headed woman who can point out flaws when they exist, but many people see to be hell bent on seeing a scene where Yozora gets her comeuppance, so for your information, she does have something of the sort later, so rejoice, you’ll get to see your least favorite bully get bullied.

  20. Sheba Said,

    February 11, 2013 @ 8:29 pm

    The thing is that Yozora GET her comeuppance all the time. Maybe not getting hit in the face or something in that effect, but more in the form of something backfiring hard on her like a sort of karmic justice. Remember that cellphone sketch? Kodaka ended up helping Sena right under Yozora’s nose, which Yozora visibly did not want. She is not Shiraume from Bento who can be the Empress Bitch of the anime universe who gets away with EVERYTHING she does with Satou.

  21. Zzz... Said,

    February 11, 2013 @ 11:43 pm

    Getting what’s coming to her and actually growing up/becoming a better person are 2 completely separate things. And Yozora have been a static character the whole way through.

    What pushed me over the edge about Yozora is her reaction to the reveal that Yukimura is a) indeed a girl and b) a incredibly naive girl.

    Her response reveals that a) she knew the whole time and b) more importantly thought it would be a hilarious joke to take advantage of the poor girl’s delusion. She essentially wanted Yukimura there so she can laugh behind her back at the poor idiot and everyone one else for not figuring it out. That is low.

    So now that Yukimura is outed and a credible threat for Kodaka’s attention she’s now pissy about how she messed up and created a rival, 2 episodes in a roll. There’s being a jerk and there is being straight up petty evil

  22. moridin84 Said,

    Didn’t care for her much last season but Rikka is definitely the best character now.

    @Dawn “I prefer a girl that’s a little more realistic and tries hard to accomplish what she wants through subtle means, like trying to make Yukimura less appealing.”
    What? Sabotaging your rivals is a good trait? Who are also supposed to be your friends? Really?

    @Zzz… “What pushed me over the edge about Yozora is her reaction to the reveal that Yukimura is a) indeed a girl and b) a incredibly naive girl.”

    I thought her reaction was something like this:
    — “Putting Yukimaru in a maid costume was a mistake. I thought it would be funny to put a girly man in a maid costume. I messed up, Yukimaru as a women is actually a perfect, super appealing maid.”

    That’s why she switched to a butler outfit, to attempt to reduce Yukimaru’s appeal.

  23. Skribulous Said,

    February 12, 2013 @ 8:45 am

    tl;dr all these comments – Rika wins. No contest.

    @Troggy Hordesman:

    Cry moar, Yozora shipper. We have already seen her ending this episode.

    @moridin84:
    >That’s why she switched to a butler outfit, to attempt to reduce Yukimaru’s appeal.

    Which hilariously backfired when the Mayo Chiki reference was brought up.

    @Skribulous
    Troggy said that Yozora had been an ass since the start. Do shippers call their character asses?

    @moridin + Sheba
    Did you read Giorno Giovanna’s or Chaos2Frozen’s posts?
    Yozora has slowly been becoming more open minded, and frankly I feel that you guys must have been serious bully victims to even consider that malice is the only thing driving her actions.
    And like Chaos says, its a 50/50 between Yozora tricking others for her enjoyment and for their personal gain.

    http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/YamatoNadeshiko
    “A properly done yamato nadeshiko will show a subtle, but definitely present, touch of iron, in that she is unwilling to let circumstances hurt the ones she cares about or distract her from her goals or missions. ”

    I consider Yozora as being proactive in improving a friendship with Kodaka and even Kobato at times later more entertaining than if she were to do nothing to score Kodaka’s affections at all. Her actions are still considered subtle to Kodaka, whether he’s feigning ignorance or not, as he states later on.

    @Kurogane
    Shipping wars for this series is particularly more intense than others, I wonder if you’lll see this much heated debate especially in the later episodes.

    Speaking of manga and Yozora. That previous chapter I linked really shows a lot, as with this page. (Another Mayo Chiki! reference!)
    Also, I’ll copy a few stuff other people wrote on TVtropes, since reading the novels really details more behind the events shown in the anime often.
    Jerkass: Yozora denies being a bully, but Sena would probably disagree. However, her abrasive nature is really just what Sena and Maria need, as both are rude, selfish and demanding. When forced to interact with someone that doesn’t kowtow to them, they both start behaving more like decent human beings.

    Friendship Moment: She has at least two. One occurs early on when she says she won’t tell Kodaka her nickname, because nicknames are something only friends give to each after. Not long after, she gives Sena the nickname “Meat”. Insulting, but still a nickname. Later, in Volume 6 of the novels, she shows genuine remorse over hurting Sena’s feelings, unlike when they seem to be mostly playing around. She’s apparently pretty happy when Sena’s mood improves thanks to Kobato.

    Friend To All Children: Season 1 Episode 12 reveals that she actually has a soft spot for children, going so far as to put up with Maria’s bratty attitude while she tried to politely ask for her permission to lend her favorite naptime room to the Club before finally losing her patience. She is also shown to be protective of Kobato, and is often the first to try to keep Sena in check.

    @ Dawn

    I have been speaking from a strict anime-only POV and drawing comparison with another character who have gotten a hatedom as big as Yozora’s but yet have gotten scot-free in comparison but she have gotten a vocal lovedom. So you should leave your assumptions on random people in the internet, it only serve to make you look like an ass. I have nowhere said, “hahah, that b*tch have gotten what she deserves.”

  31. Dawn Said,

    February 15, 2013 @ 1:06 pm

    My god, this is still going?
    I don’t think I ever accused of you saying “hahah, that b*tch have gotten what she deserves.” nor said anyone was a bitch. Either way, after reading the novels, I can’t differentiate the anime version, manga version and novel version of Yozora, I just treat them as one entity for mental convenience and just state what I notice.

    The difference between Yozora and Shiraume is that Yozora has shown hesitation and disgust towards bullying acts, whereas Shiraume shows absolutely no remorse in even sexually harrassing or hurting Ayame and Saitou.

    @moridin
    Attacking the weakest part of the discussion without acknowledging anything but what you want to see is a sign of great wisdom, but not civilised debates.

    *shrugs*

    So anyway, I’m guessing this means you don’t think she’ a Yamato Nadeshiko. You could have just said.
