Vividred Operation 01

Vividred Operation

Dem butts…

Take Evangelion’s setup, replace the main character with mahou shoujo and add a sentai twist to it. Add a dash of Nanoha to flavour and sprinkle some Eureka 7/Macross on top and you have the first episode of Vividred Operation.

While I couldn’t shake off the feeling this was a mash between many popular shows, Vividred première remains charming enough to hook me in to the show for now. The production quality is definitely on the high side, though I hope it just isn’t them spending half the budget on this episode, and the hooks are presented early to reel the viewer in, starting from the opening scene (always thought it was Red’s butt instead of Black FML) even.

That henshin scene was definitely interesting visually, although it feels too over-the-top after a repeated watching w. A little relieved (yet disappointed as well) it doesn’t entirely removes her clothes. Hopefully, the rest of the girls get individually interesting henshin scenes as well.

Speaking of which, (as)symmetrical docking next week?

Klacman, while its possible to be an alternate time line its also possible it could be the same world, but set in the future. If you pay attention to the dates in Strike Witches you’ll see it took place in the past. One could consider Strike Witches to take place in the past, now (our present time) with nothing occuring, and Vividred Operation to be in the future.
