Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai

Oho~~ Rikka being evasive. Still cute~~

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai

Wait… what?!

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai

You silly girl… that’s called “love”!

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai

>dat feel when can’t banishment this world Σ(゚Д゚ )

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai

Finally! Someone spells it out for her! Rikka’s reaction here oh lawd.

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai

>dem butterflies…

KYOANIIIIIIIIIIIII………….! And thus, Nibutani decides to play cupid for those two hopeless ones….

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai

Nice book there, Nibutani.

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai

Attempt #1 ends in utter failure….

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai

Same with the second attempt too. Poor book :(

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai

Third time’s the charm… oh shit, I don’t think that was in the plan! Rikka!!!!!

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai

Eh well, I guess it worked out in the end! GJ, Nibutani!

Aaaaahhhhhhhhh this episode!!!!!!!! All dem feeeeeeeeeellllllllllssssssss! Yeah, this episode really lives up to the show’s title now. It was really fun seeing Rikka’s hapless attempts at denying her own feelings at first, then Nibutani took charge of the show and really turned it around for her.

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai

That’s right!

Truly, what a bro… or should it be sister in this case? Also, her reactions each time Rikka shoots herself in the foot while trying to approach Yuuta were definitely the best parts of this episode wwwwwwwww

We also finally know how Touka is able to pull off all those crazy acrobatic moves.

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai

This screencap was taken intentionally

Still not buying it fully though. I like the “she’s an assassin” speculah theory better.

OP also got a mid-season upgrade and to quote ever witty @woxxy about this week’s episode, they took out the epilepsy-inducing parts in it. Of course, the cardiovascular damage incurred from this episode kinda negates it though….

I’m wondering what will Yuuta decide though. It doesn’t seem like he’s unaware of Rikka’s feelings, but I feel like he’s trying to intentionally ignore them while he kinda decides what to make of it. He’s definitely not oblivious about it though. Guess we’ll see next week.

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai

Even the end card is killing me (with moe)!

Took me episode 8 to have the OP make sense. This episode reinforces the fact that it’s from Rikka’s perspective.

Also, Nibutani as Cupid pretty much makes her Ami.

No comment on how Isshiki gets dragged off by the light music club that’s NOT consisted of cute girls?

Are we gonna compare Chuunibyou with Toradora then? If it is, surely seems that this show have many similarities to Toradora. But both are good in its own way, like Toradora with the tsun-tsun-based shoujo protagonist while Chuunibyou with a “eight-grader syndrome” textbook example.

Looks like Kuro’s using trollsubs despite UTW doing this show. He must be M.

I don’t really give a damn what subs I use when I can understand it raw almost perfectly.

I just choose gg because they have great karaoke.

Touka’s flexibility is such a turn-on. I hope Yuuta has reach.

The images in the OP doesn’t alternate left to right as much.

The question now is how will Yuuta respond? He obviously loves her but doesn’t know how to deal with her Chuuni side.

    @ Phazeshift
It took me a second to realize the LMC was shanghaiing him. Given their haircuts, I wonder what Isshiki is going to look like when they get through with him.

    @ Momo
I’ve commented elsewhere that this episode is in the same class as some of Toradora!’s for emotional impact. Just like Toradora! I’ve come to like all of the characters. This could have been two cour just to give us more time to spend with each of the secondary characters. The headbutt almost seemed like a salute to another famous headbutt in Toradora!.

    The OP change actually happened back in Episode 4, but I’m supposing that people may have been skipping it and so just somehow didn’t notice it until now. ^^;

(Some episode also had one scene of the OP change to match what was happening in that episode, but you have to pay attention to catch that.)

    @relentlessflame

Exactly what I was thinking, I had episode 8 & 9 playing right next to each other and trying to find out just what they changed…the only change I was aware of was the one they did way back early in the early episodes.

Best episode so far. Seeing Nibutani trying to help Rikka was truly fun to watch.
Also, nice magazine there, Yuuta! Touka is still better, though.

Too bad that Rikka can’t do her “Banishment… THIS WORLD!” thing anymore thanks to Dark Flame Master!

  18. Mentar Said,

    As usual I’m torn. There are lots of cute and funny scenes in it, but essentially, it’s about a kid which desperately needs professional help. And I seem to be the only one thinking this way ^_^;

    Ah well…

Nah, as shown in Lite 03, Chûnibyô is not the same like being schizophrenic. She is mentally alright, just insecure in social and emotional matter, but not pathological so.

But I’m curious about the stage fight between her und Yuuta. Will we really see the DKF again?

  21. Peanutbutter003 Said,

Is this show one cour or two cours?

  22. KLAC_ERA Said,

    November 30, 2012 @ 9:52 am

& yep indeed look rikka must have got under “spell” of yuuta really i say she got hit by cupid’s arrow?

  23. Myssa Rei Said,

    November 30, 2012 @ 10:04 am

Peanutbutter003: It’s one cour. There’re a second book, but please take note that the anime pretty much discarded the source material altogether except the chuuni aspect, some of the characters, and the love stuff. Much of the foreshadowing for Rikka’s rival gets cut out for example.

  24. Entrav Said,

    November 30, 2012 @ 11:44 am

Finally, Rikka is understanding her feelings for Yuuta. At least we’ll get some kind of proper relationship development between the two of them before this anime ends.

  25. Skribulous Said,

    November 30, 2012 @ 4:33 pm

And thus Rikka loses her Tyrant Eye and becomes what Yuuta wanted to be: and ordinary high school kid with nothing special whatsoever.

  26. Mentar Said,

    November 30, 2012 @ 6:38 pm

Doc Astaroth: Says who? Honestly, I have strong doubts that her panicked denial of reality is healthy, and humoring it like this – over the course of a full year, if I got it right – feels even less so.

Anyway, I’m no psychiatrist, so “whatever”, but it leaves a bad aftertaste in my mouth.

  27. Benigmatica Said,

    November 30, 2012 @ 7:02 pm

    @Myssa Rei

Hmm, I’ll take note from that one. Although I’m not reading the light novels, it’s kinda funny that Kyoto Animation published Chu2Koi, adapt it, and deviate it from the source material like adding characters and stuff!

  28. Kurogane Shiroikaze Said,

    November 30, 2012 @ 7:20 pm

While I think Rikka needs help, I don’t think it’s to the level of needing professional help.

Yes, her delusions are a subconscious cry for attention that she craves, but it’s something I think a lot of kids do, especially at that age. In any case, she does not seem to be overtly expressing it to others or channeling her delusions to “disturbing” paths of thought, so I don’t share the opinion she needs professional help.

Well, love is a powerful force for change, her blooming feelings for Yuuta might just help her back down on the right track!

I haven’t watched much anime, but I’ve watched enough to be stunned by the fact that I can’t think of a single one in which the male lead actively pursues one girl the way Rikka did in this episode.

I still give this show credit for having no harem, but seriously, what the fuck?
Maybe I’m just an old-fashioned chauvinist for expecting guys to ask out girls, but even factoring that in, it’s still way too unbalanced.

  32. Kurogane Shiroikaze Said,

  33. Roarke Said,

Err, sorry. I meant “in which the male lead actively pursues one girl in the way Rikka pursued Yuuta,” only with the genders flipped.
