Sword Art Online

Dammit, Reki. Dammit, A-1. Dammit, Sugou!

So yeah… I never really was a fan of “those scenes” that I’m sure everyone who watched this week is probably talking about. I mean it makes almost really no sense except to just provide some fanservice. Why are the scientists in those slug bodies? Why would someone leave the GM access card at that console? Why did they have to use tentacles? Why is everyone else in brain form? Why even build that room inside the server when they can just monitor shit from their own consoles? This part is really weak and terrible… pretty much only serves to provide us with the fanservice. Which I’m sure everyone has opinions on.

On the other hand, what’s happening IRL is a bit more interesting and heart-wrenching too…

Finally meeting Asuna… Suguha grasps the insurmountable obstacle to her own feelings very clearly here.

Sword Art Online

Of course… such a heartbreak is almost impossible to keep in by herself ;_;

Sword Art Online

And she shares it with…. well, let’s just say when she finds out it’s gonna result in some awkwardness ^^;;… poor girl.

Of course, next week will be seeing Suguha finally finding out… and hopefully some real action as the “Grand Quest” title implies.

Really nice end card of Asuna this week too, I suppose to make up for her suffering in the episode this week…

    These cliifhangers will be the death of me, SAO is like the champion of them.

    Think I can understand the confusion of the non-LN readers who are watching.. so much internal dialogue cut out that helps make some sense of the characters actions ^^;

    Without re-reading, a comment elsewhere mentioned them using different bodies as an experiment… a slug like creature certainly can have lots of appendages.. really my only “complaint” of the episode is the GM console/key just sitting there lazily.. the other aspects mostly make sense to me but I read lots of fantasy and sci-fi :D

    Pity they cut out Jotunheimr since it plays a role later on, and it was an interesting little side quest.. they probably would’ve needed a full ep to cover it correctly though, and we’re running out of time ^^

    At least Jotunheimr can be revisited later if they animate Caliber. Perhaps they’re intending to expand that for further seasons.

    Jotunheimr getting cut was probably a good choice since the plot thread really isn’t going to be solved until much later.

    As for the “different body” experiment… that explanation really doesn’t sound logical the more you think about things.

    SAO is using a lot of sexual scenes to captivate their viewers. I find them trying too hard sometimes, but that might just be me. Still excited for the next episode cause of the cliff hangers that SAO keeps on having each episode.

    As stated by kiryuu and cited by luxies, they take on slug forms to experience how the motion of inhumanic lifeforms and such works (as one result, the flutter of the fairy wing could only be apllied via such experiments!).

    As for the other “no sense” as kuro calls them, they also are mostly explained by Reki-sensei:
    -The console is left their so that the scientists may perform an emergency log-out just in case some system trouble occurs and they are disabled to use their menu window and the voice command. (As for why they left the card their, is not mentioned, still, since they are slugs, they might have problems with minute movement or something…)

    -The room itself has been established within the server for several reasons:
    a) it (especially the maintaining costs) will be much cheaper when using an existing system than to build an extra one (just for monitoring purposes).
    b) Doing it this way, it is much easier to conceal their illegal experiments, and less evidence will remain.

    (Still, I am not acqainted with informatics and stuff and do not know if what I am telling is making sense or not; I am just citing some things the author commented on this episode.)

    They know Asuna is the female star of the fan, and so wave have this…
    Dunno if this actually satisfies anybody’s wild fantasy…
    For me, it is a bit suggestive, but I’d rather see maybe a doujin between Asuna and Kirito rather than a softcore fanservice like this…
    Not to mention I’m no fan of tentacle rapes :p
