Sword Art Online 17

Sword Art Online

Ahahahah, Suguha. Getting a bit too bold there with your in-game persona eh. Guess you couldn’t just leave him alone when he resembles “oniichan” so much www

Sword Art Online

Don’t get so ahead of yourself, Kirito.

Sword Art Online

See, you made Yui mad already!

Sword Art Online

Haha, serves him right for all that cockiness earlier. Lyfa can be pretty naughty too, hehe.

Sword Art Online

Wow, Slyvain looks so beautiful. Never really got a good picture of it in the original work, but the anime really nails it down. A bit of a shame we don’t get to see the other eight seven capitals too.

And now, time for the real reason for this week’s episode title…

Sword Art Online

…. this bastard. *shaking fists*

Sword Art Online

…. fffffffffuuu- *clenching fists*

Sword Art Online

Ugh, you fucking creep. Why can’t I punch you through my monitor?!!!

Dammit, Kirito. Hurry up and get your ass over to the World Tree and kick that creeper’s ass hard. He certainly deserves it enough. Poor Asuna… hang in there!

So we get to find out what happened to Asuna and the other players still stuck in their NervGear as Sugou’s dastardly plan is revealed. I have to say, getting Takehito Koyasu to ham him up was really a good choice here. Not as fabulous as Dio of course, but his creeper mode is truly something else.

Production quality noticeably suffered this week, but oh well this was a “bridge” episode anyways so it’s acceptable enough. Still, the focus on certain parts of Lyfa… was unsettling. Or was it just me? Please don’t let it just be me, I don’t want to be outed as a pervert here… oh wait.

Kajiura continues to do great work with the BGM. I think the setting really unlocked something in her hahah. ALO’s only been for two episodes and the BGM variety is already equal to the entire Aincrad arc so far, subjectively speaking.

Next week, Suguha and Kirito set out on their epic adventure through the world of Alfheim!

Sword Art Online

As usual, the end card this week

P.S. Poor Recon, forever friendzoned.

    Stay beta, Recon.

And someone needs to make an image macro of that pic with Leafa and Yui while naming it as “laughingfairies.jpg”.

Koyasu is the go-to guy to voice rapists.

I never thought Recon would look so goddamn wimpy. I did imagine him looking sort of awkward, but damn. I never thought he’d look that…well, beta.

  4. Roarke Said,

I suspect… nay, I know Recon is supposed to be the author’s jab at real MMORPG players. I am therefore suitably insulted.

Damn you Koyasu, your voice makes me want to fuckin’ punch your character into a pulp!

Btw, BTOOOM!’s psycho kid is voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro.

Hate the character. Not the voice actor. XD He’ll always be Hotohori to me.

But dammit. Everyone looked great this episode. Lyfa, Suguha and Asuna looked smoking hot. Even in the misery Asuna is in. I mostly liked the flight visuals, although I wish Kirito had done something really funny to make the audience laugh with Leafa and Yui. Something closer to the stuff that just rocked my world in Chuuninbou. And Sylvain really is beautiful. I had a picture in my head of that cafe they went to being an open air balcony thing with a view of the World Tree but I guess I was wrong.

I know this is somewhat offtopic but you ppl certainly already read past “Fairy Dance” in the nightnovel rite? Is it worth continuing to Phantom Bullet and Mother’s Rosario? I mean with another main character and all…. what’s your thoughts?

  9. meow Said,

    October 28, 2012 @ 8:52 pm

It sounds to me like you’ve already answered your own question if what you’ve read so far doesn’t interest you enough that you need to ask.

I would definitely read Mother’s Rosario. It is very heart-wrenching at times, but also very beautiful.

The focus is on Asuna and the new girl, Yuuki, who I must say is the most pure and upbeat character I have seen.

This arc is like one big web of Netorare…nearly everyone here is being netorare’d or netorare-ing someone in varying degrees.

    For example:

    Sugou is NTR-ing Kirito.

    Suguha is NTR-ing Asuna.

    Asuna NTR-ed Suguha in retrospect.

    Kirito NTR-ed Sugou in retrospect.

    And everyone is NTR-ing Recon.

I know, but I would forgive him if he didn’t create his pet project in the first place that failed in the end and left hanging. Well, you know about it right?

@meow: wtffffff I had no idea he was Hotohori. I guess he was really holding back for that role. Great, now I cannot get the image of Hotohori tormenting Miaka out of my head… blarrghhh.

I know of it but I never watched it myself. But there aren’t many stories that fully make it to television. I think Weiz Kreuz got pretty big. Even people who never saw it know about it at least. I don’t think it failed.

Great, now I cannot get the image of Hotohori tormenting Miaka out of my head

^^; Try to think of what poor Hotohori has to do to protect Miaka all the while. And he didn’t get her in the end either. Although, I love Tamahome too.

But yeah, touching Asuna is unforgiveable. XD I’m taking it as well as I am cos I already know how the story will go so the events at this point are kind of a distant memory for me. I’m just looking forward to the fights. And Leafa. (Yes, it’s Leafa. ^^;)

    Btw, news is out about SAO the PSP game. It looks to be some kind of alternate universe game where the system goes buggy around the 75th floor. Kirito, Asuna, Lisbeth, Silica and even LEAFA(!!!???) are playable. I wonder how that works. ^^;

It’s not just you, I noticed “the emphasis” as well…unless we’re both perverts D:

I’m actually pretty happy with the episode because we get to see some Suguha yet! Hopefully, Asuna can get saved quickly so she gets more screentime too (screentime with slimy antagonist doesn’t count).

  17. Kah Said,

The only time Kirito hasn’t been the main character is Mother’s Rosario which has Asuna as the main character.

I hope they make a movie from Mother’s Rosario. ><

I am also rereading Phantom Bullet for the third time atm… hahaha

ah no no I eagerly read the novels and after finishing Fairy Dance some feeling of “accomplishment” spread within me and I thought: “I hope this feeling doesn’t disappear once I indulge myself into the other novels” – it’s strange I get it, but well, if there are even ppl reading Phantom Bullet several times it has to be good xD

  20. Benigmatica Said,

Well, it’s your call but Weiss Kreuz failed in my opinion!

Anyways, when will someone give Asuna a hand for freedom?

Phantom Bullet would be an OK 2nd (3rd?) 13 episodes season.

I see Mother Rosario more like a movie-length material, its drama contents also fit well in a movie plot. On the other hand, I don’t know how well SAO is doing in its ratings and merchandise to justify a movie.

  26. thaivuN Said,

With the released numbers of DVD/BD sales, it’s pretty much safe to say that there’s gonna be more SAO in the future. 27K+ in BD and 6K+ in DVD. Those numbers totally justify a movie.

Sword Art Online has taken a new and interesting direction. The dynamic between Kirito and his sister is an odd but interesting one. I do miss the dire atmosphere that the previous episodes embodied but I am sure that the life or death aspect of this anime will still be present in some kind of form.
