Sword Art Online 15

Sword Art Online

Suguhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

Sword Art Online

….she’s such a good girl. Telling ‘onii-chan’ not to give up on his love even though you’re in love with him too ;_;

So why is Kirito in the dumps? Because of a certain guy…

Sword Art Online

Yeah, the slimiest motherfucker in the SAO series so far, Sugou Nobuyuki. Hell, this guy makes those Laughing Coffin dudes look like proper, upstanding citizens.

Sword Art Online

Comes with A-class scumbag villain Takehito Koyasu voice too!

… just look at that bastard’s smug face. I really feel sorry we haven’t invented a method to punch fictional characters in face yet. That’s why ALO is still my favourite arc yet in SAO.

So, ALO arc kicks off pretty much exactly how I guessed it to be, right down to the cliffhanger ending of Egil’s email to Kirito. Pretty much covered the prologue and 3/4′s of the first chapter of Fairy Dance, so with this pacing gives me hope that A-1′s gonna do the right thing and properly let Fairy Dance play out as it really deserves the rest of the cour for it.

One thing I noticed about this episode is how well the BGM is, most noticeably during all the emotional moments. Kajiura is really going all out here heh. The new OP and ED are also much better than I expected them to be, with awesome animation accompanying both of them. Especially the OP.

Sword Art Online

mmmm dat fairy queen Asuna~

Yeah…. that.

Next week, are you ready for fairies?! And Suguha/Lyfa~

Sword Art Online

SAO end card this week by Yasu-sensei HNNNNGGHHHHH Asunaaaaa

P.S. Don’t worry, I’m still in the Asuna camp. Suguha is a very good imouto though!

    You know, Sugo is more of a bastard than Raiser Phoenix. Too bad that he can’t beat the likes of Kayaba.

    Still, I hope ALO arc ends soon… or we’ll be filled with rage!

    I wonder if they can do fairy dance in 10 episodes and cover all the important bits. Also: YUIIIII!!

    Oh please, you don’t want to get enraged when watching the ALO arc in 10 or more episodes do you?

    Some viewers are sensitive to such things… especially when dealing with that Sugo smug!

    No screencap of Suguha’s open shirt as she runs outta Kirito’s room? Tsk tsk.

    Any chance of Sugou Nobuyuki and Noumi Seiji being relatives?

    Yui, Kickass-from-the-start-Kirito, flying, Excalibur and super-uber battle(s) at the tree make up for Sogou existance IMO.

    You want a method to punch Sugou in the face, I want to punch THROUGH his face. If only that were possible…

    Now, for Lyfa……

    @Pryun

    It would be nice Issei punch him with his Boosted Gear! I mean, he did that to Raiser on the final episode of Highschool DxD!

    Still, I wonder if Kirito would be so wimpy from the start just like Haruyuki. I don’t want that to happen because Kirito is a badass!

    Rezo as Sugou. How the mighty have fallen…
    This episode also shows that in SAO no Asuna is fine too.

    And there won’t be much of Excalibur until after GGO.

    I wonder what it’s like to be given the rule of Sugou. “Hey, we need you to be the most creepy and hate-inducing bastard ever, can you do a voice that makes the viewer want to punch you?” Sucks to be a male seiyuu and have to do crappy roles like that (and I watched btooom 2 before this so…). Be female, voice all the waifus, have a legion of fans.

    Kurogane, I have a huge question I’ve read most of the novels but what’s alicization about? Basically volumes 9 and 10. I’ve read them but they were really boring compared to mothers Rosario and other Sao novels.

  14. Himajin Breaker Said,

    October 15, 2012 @ 2:35 am

    @ Kurogane: Yay for boobage! Multiple screencaps of them in succession, no less.

    @ Fate T. Harlaown: Surprisingly, rage-inducing villain roles tend to be given to veteran seiyuu, probably because they have the experience to pull it off and actually make viewers feel disgusted about the character.

    Also, regarding the last bit in your comment, I gotta disagree. There are certainly way more female seiyuu who get to hop on this fast track to success as compared to male ones, simply because there’s a lot more shows with a single male protagonist and many attractive female characters around him. But, say, a guy like Miyano Mamoru probably has an equally hilariously gigantic female fanbase for all the dashing young guy roles he keeps getting.

    I almost tasted my own rage and utter revulsion mixed with Kirito’s and everyone watching the show during the hospital scene… damn.

    It might be just me but Suguha’s voice definitely sounds a little childish… not that I’m against it, y’know.
    And it seems that A-1 managed to animate someone who’s stacked while wearing a school uniform properly, that doesn’t make it look like it’s completely wet and sticking to her body.

    They’re not going to cover GGO arc this season, from the looks of the OP. Either that or they’re going for a mid-season OP change like Sacred Seven, or even give GGO an OVA adaptation. Both are viable ways to introduce Shinonon and Trap!Kirito, imo.

    @baka:
    Well, it helps that Kawahara Reki both made Accel World and Sword Art Online. He might be actually good at making “smug motherf*cker villain” characters. There’s also another character in post-Alfheim SAO who’s tall had glasses who almost fits the bill…

    @Viceral:
    Let’s just say that the Alicization Project is Kawahara Reki’s attempt at making his own version of Matrix, then putting Lv, 1 Kirito in the middle of it. It had a bonus of wrapping up ends from all previous arcs, from Kayaba’s involvement, Sugou’s dickery and the Death Gun incident. Read it for a feel how Kirito probably acted during the early days of SAO, where he only had his wits and system knowledge to survive.

  18. Kurogane Shiroikaze Said,

    October 15, 2012 @ 6:54 am

    Heh, I have not really much to say about Alicization because I’m basically just waiting to see how it unfolds. It’s going to be a super long arc, apparently running until Vol. 15 (making it like 7 books?) so it’ll probably take time.

    Though I must say, the latest volume of Alicization really ramps the ridiculous up at parts…

    And I don’t know why it would suck for Takehito Koyasu to be given such roles because he’s basically so damn good at it that he’s voiced some of the best, memorable villains in anime. Yet at the same time, he’s done tons of bishounen roles too that he’s got such a giant female fanbase, shoujo manga authors sometimes design roles with his voice specifically in mind. He’s basically on the same level of Inoue Kikuko in the seiyuu industry, if you asked me.

  19. Botanikka Said,

    There are all types of villains in fiction.
    Sadly Kawahara-san can only write unsufferable treacherous pricks.
    Does he really think the audience is that stupid?

    So who’s more annoying, Noumi or Sugou?

  21. Benigmatica Said,

    @Kurogane Shiroikaze

    Agreed to the last statement, except for his pet-project Weiss Kreuz which it bombed when Gluhen aired more than 10 years ago.

    It’s not like Koyasu is a bad voice actor because he has a good voice, it’s just that he should focus on voice-work instead of making an anime about 4 assassins working at a flower shop.

    Loving the new ED and OP. Damn, Suguha is so adorable slightly torn between her and Asuna now.

    And I didn’t know that Kirito was such a badass in real life too ;o Building computers at six, was it?

  23. Kurogane Shiroikaze Said,

    October 15, 2012 @ 6:37 pm

    Not seeing why Sugou being an “unsufferable treacherous prick” is a bad thing for a show that is essentially a ‘light’ one. As a matter of fact, I find him a better villain than Kayaba Akihiko. Not everyone has to be some enigmatic, mysterious innovator that deviously traps 10,000 people in a virtual world at the threat of death on every turn.

    Also, Kirito is indeed a pretty big tech geek. In fact, he later on decides to pursue a career in robotics in order to bring to life his first daughter.

    You are now imagining Kirito laughing maniacally while a bed containing a gynoid version of Yui is sleeping is in front of him.
    Manually.

    He’s on his way there, with the help of the Virtual Reality Probe he built for Yuuki in the Mother’s Rozario arc.

    I’m skipping out on this arc, mostly because of how rage-inducing it’s gonna be. Seriously though, reading this arc in the light novel is difficult enough with the urge to constantly wanting to sink my fist into that face of his (#`Д´)
