Little Busters! 01

Little Busters

You’re using that the wrong way, Masato. Here, let Asami show you how…

Pew Pew Pew

So… first episode of Little Busters! wasn’t too bad, although if this wasn’t Key I’ll bet half the comments would be about how “goddamn generic this eroge adaptation is”.

Still, J.C. Staff is really trying goddamn hard to live up to KyoAni standards lol, I’ll admit this episode was pretty nicely done overall, a big departure from what you usually expect from J.C. Staff. It’s most apparent in the OP too… could even mistake it for KyoAni if it wasn’t for how generic the end result turned out. But… J.C. Staff just doesn’t have that KyoAni touch, seriously. Everything just… lacks life for some reason.

But hey, I’m in this for cute and Rin certainly fulfils that already.

Little Busters

Gotta love that reaction face

This is… Komari, right? She’s cute.

Oh dear god that ojoulaugh. I haven’t heard such awesome ojoulaugh in YEARS.

But seriously, Hocchan is being so hocchan in this show. I keep thinking it’s Mary har har har.

I’d want to see how everyone reacts when the bench scene comes on, rage will flood the community.

On the other hand, Hocchan voicing a boy is a surprise for me!

BTW, isn’t that Onegai Teacher on the second pic or some anime I don’t remember?

I got a good laugh from the quoting jokes and Masato’s dialogue in general. Not to mention the character title joke, complete with sound effect from the game.

I never liked the protagonist, so I don’t really mind him having Mary’s voice. At least it’s not the white haired guy from K. Or the monkey woman.

Wow, I’m really supporting this thing for some reason. I didn’t even like the game all that much.

Little no Busters, followed by 2nd season Little no Busters Second and then Final.

That said, needs less clothes and more H for an eroge adaptation. Is there a Twincest route?

I must say, if it wasn’t a Key adaption I wouldn’t bother watching the next episode. I guess I’m just a little sick of these shows with overly adorable female characters and a lack of everything else. I know there’s going to be some devastatingly sad twist to it, but right now I’m just wondering how long I’m going to have to sit through the boring cuteness before getting to it. In the former Key adaptions I at least saw inklings of darkness in the first episodes- Nagisa was depressed, Yukito was on a hopeless journey and Misuzu was all alone, and in Kanon there was the mystery of ‘what happened back then?’ to lure me in.

I don’t think its because of JC staff that I feel this way- even after reading up on the Little Busters! game plot I’m still not very intrigued, so I think the storyline might just be a miss for me. I’ll keep watching and hope for a change of heart though.

Is this going to be a baseball show? There’s already the Key’s trademark problem of “what the hell should I do after high school?” brought into light, so if their baseball faggotry is maxed out here, I might as well drop it without waiting for characters to start climbing poles as useful members of the society.

This episode has its funny moments but it’s fairly mediocre. I’ll wait for a few more because people seem to be so hyped about it.

It’s funny how nobody really pays attention to the male cast, which is probably the reason I’m even watching this other than Rin.

    …No, the protagonist doesn’t count…

No, the correct way to use a cat gun is to use it as a targeting laser for a cat satellite that can obliterate anything from orbit. A killer catellite.

    Like so.

I’d say that Little Busters is a bit of a departure from the other Key games in that there’s no real ‘darkness’ in the way you’re probably used to. That being said, some of the core elements that makes this a Key story at heart should be making its appearance in the next episode and would become more and more apparent as the plot progresses. You might also find the guy characters making a bigger impact than you’re expecting.

Regarding how the adaptation went for the first episode, I thought that the content made its way to animated form pretty well and everything fit together neatly. Can’t say that its better than what I expected KyoAni to have done though.

As someone coming into this series with no VN knowledge I’m completely clueless about what to expect from this series from this first episode. Well I guess I hope it does get better x_X

The anime is already an INFERIOR adaptation of the visual novel. it’s mucking up the humour and skipping some of the awesome scenes in the game. I was disappointed J.C.Staff completely foregoes autonomy and proceeds to transpose the scenes from the game 1:1 into the anime… I mean, it’s like an arithmetic exercise for them!

Why not just play the game in English? (you can find it on fuwanovel or on torrent sites) Written by Jun Maeda, the author of Kanon, Clannad & Angel Beats.

but Hey. I never really had much of an expectation from JC Staff.

I swear half the people here didn’t even play Little Busters. Seriously, some of these comments man.

The only real big miss from the first episode is that Haruka is the first character introduced, not Komari. Most of the comedy translated fine, if anything better than expected. Seriously, I knew the fans wouldn’t be able to accept it for what it is and just blame everything on J.C.

Seriously, how much content Clannad missed is mind-boggiling, far more than this first episode did. These reactions are almost indenticle to the ones that came out when Clannad did, except replace >I LOVE KYOANI with >JC SCREWS UP EVERYTHING.

Damn people. Let it go. It was a pretty good first episode for something deemed a failure from the start.
