Sword Art Online

… too… much… Asuna cute…

Sword Art Online

… dammit, that nightwear of hers. And this angle too!!

Sword Art Online

KIRIIITOOOOOOOO CAN YOU FEEL THE JELLY?!! Man… anime sure loves to put in their PDA’s :P

Sword Art Online

*pfffftt*… Kirito aren’t you not ashamed to hide behind Asuna like that *snicker*

Sword Art Online

Lol, OHKO. Asuna-sama kakkoii!!!!! kyaaaaaaa~

Sword Art Online

Yes, this is the highlight of the fishing arc… Asuna’s heartfelt declaration of the depths of her love towards Kirito. It had quite a bit of significance in the original novel, but the anime did incorporate a few things that diminish that impact. Still… I cried ;_;

Sword Art Online

Kirito…. (and lol at Asuna sitting on Heathcliff’s table like that)

Sword Art Online

Goddamnit, this episode is making me cry so much.

Sword Art Online

Flirting before the boss fight… oh c’mon you two. No wonder the rest of the party looks at them all annoyed w

Sword Art Online

A-1.. certainly did a good job with The Skull Reaper. Thing seriously looks as powerful as it is scary.

Sword Art Online

Even crazy-grinder-almost-to-max-level Kirito has problems with the damn thing. Luckily, he has Asuna!

Ahhh this week’s SAO really gave me a surprise when the preview indicated they were going to do the fishing chapter, which turns out to be only the first half of this episode. Makes sense, since it’s not really that long. Still, it’s a required part of the story as it segues to the 75th Floor boss fight.

In the original novel, this part was also where we actually get to know how Asuna fell in love with Kirito at first, which was never really told before then, so she felt very much like a Mary Sue type of character. Of course, the anime took a different route and put in those parts already, so it’s not as significant as it is but still, it packed enough emotional punch when she told Nishida how she felt about Kirito. Kirito’s probably hearing that for the first time too, btw. Man that guy’s really lucky dohohoho.

The bigger surprise for me was how fast they went straight to the 75th floor boss fight, since that wasn’t even hinted in the preview, but I guess the episode title did prominently hint on that…

As usual, a few details have been left out, for instance, the explanation why the boss is suddenly so powerful that even Kirito, who solo’ed the 74th Floor’s boss couldn’t do much to it. In SAO, the bosses at the “quarter” floors (25, 50) were significantly much more powerful than the bosses in the interleaving floors, which is apparently part of the game’s design. I guess the easy way to see it would be that the 75th Floor’s boss is probably on par with the 90’s floor bosses, which is why the death toll is pretty high, even though the party is supposed to be some of the highest levelled players of the game.

Ah, and also surprisingly A-1 explained the part where the players real bodies “probably” got moved to the hospital part finally, although with some changes to it. Don’t know why they decided to do that, I guess it’s much more realistic that way? Originally, the move happened not long after the announcement by Kayaba at the start, but I guess it’s not too logical to expect hospitals around Japan to suddenly accommodate 10,000 patients that require special equipment (for the NervGear) and rooms for everyone. Well, at least they’ve explained that part to us now!

And now… the wait shall begin.

In the mean time, have an Asuna end card :)

Asuna’s monologue, while good in the abstract, was…rather randomly placed. I don’t know a way to do it better, but it really felt strange that she’d pour her heart out to random fisherman ojisan. You know?

I did like her declaration to Kirito that if he went alone and died she’d kill herself, it was actually a good examination of how conceited that sort of attitude can be.

I am so tsundere for this show.

Why do you have to end this episode in a cliffhanger, A-1 Pictures!?

Oh boy A-1 must have had fun animating the fishing arc, haha.
I loved the Kirito/Asuna moments in this episode. I’m kind of glad that they didn’t include the piece of dialogue that Kirito had, “Sorry Asuna… I didn’t mean anything that deep by it; I just wanted to take a nap…”
Aha, that would have killed the mood a bit.
They also left a bit of dialogue where Asuna was telling Kirito to greet everyone now that he was a “leader”, but that doesn’t really matter that much.
I really loved the Skull Reaper part; A-1 did really well on adapting it from the Light Novel. It was probably even better than I imagined it while I was reading.
They even gave Klein and Egil some action which made them look so badass.
Now I Really can’t wait until the next episode..

What if next episode started with the boss defeated? And that’s all we will see of the boss fight?

I, for one, would not be complaining.

It was that way in the LN and probably how A-1 will approach it since the next episode is the last we’ll see of Aincrad.

Weee more Asuna x Kirito moments and more jelly flung Kirito’s direction. I found the fight to be epic and I hope to see more of it. I read around and some people seem to have problems with the amount of still captured moments in the fight… Eh, I thought it was pretty good, especially The Skull Reaper’s CG portrayal. Nice episode but the next will be the best so far (I hope).

i think that Kayaba make the quater of the 100 to be super damn hard is because its his way of telling them the last boss is not something u can take like all the other 99

Loved this episode. Really nice how they switched moods. A lot of cute sides of Asuna along with a lot of emphasis on the strength of their relationship.

Only one little thing. The joke with Agil about leaving him out of the treasure drop sharing later felt kind of weird to me. In the novels, Kirito used it to actually tease Agil playfully and it wound up breaking the tension with everyone in the expedition force. Not just their little group. It was a good scene in the novel to show how fairly close knit the clearing group was after so many floors, even though they’re from different guilds. I wonder why they made Kirito so stern in the anime. I suppose it makes good counterpoint to Asuna’s cuteness when used during the fishing part but…hm….

Maaaaan this episode was so good. A lot of ppl say that if you dont read the ln-s
the show is a mess. I disagree. I have not read any of the novels and still rly enjoying this show. It was a long time ago when i was actually this excited for upcoming episodes. ( I dont rly watch animes just 3 or 4 maybe.)
Kinda makes me sad to know that it will only have 25 episodes. This could have been so much better if they make it a 50 ep show and animate everything.( Sure its given that it would have some lousy ones but still.)

Liked this episode a lot. Keep up the good work.

I share your thought, but it may have been the dull and prolonged switch and grind strategy to defeat the boss. We’ll see what happens next week.

Maybe last of Aincrad arc next Sunday seeing that title, then off to fairy dance. I was wondering before if they are gona do that cliffhanger before ending the Aincrad arc.
