Sword Art Online 10

Sword Art Online

…. and the duel begins!

Before that though, a little bit of Asuna….

Sword Art Online

Sorry, couldn’t resist this part. Dat “baka baka baka” really…

Sword Art Online

Well, pretty much ended quick, with that obvious piece of cheating from Heathcliff. As to why and how… let’s leave that for later. But seriously, they really rushed this fight. Also recycled scenes lololol.

Sword Art Online

Looking real dashing there, Kirito-kun! (Now I see why he likes his black outfits)

Sword Art Online

D’aaawwwwwww this Asuna scene ;_;

Sword Art Online

Ugh, this idiot.

Sword Art Online

Seriously, this idiot.

Sword Art Online

Yeap, he’s an idiot.

Sword Art Online

Asuna arrives on time to save the day!

Sword Art Online

“This right fist of mine is glowing with Justice!”

Finally dead, that sonoafabitch.

Sword Art Online

ETHICS CODE: OFF

Awwwwwwwwwwww yeah, kiss scene finally!

Sword Art Online

ETHICS CODE: WHAT ETHICS CODE?

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU— ASUNAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!

Sword Art Online

Silly fucking Kirito, cockblocking himself that badly.

Sword Art Online

Still, they ironed it out it seems. CHAPTER 16.5 CONFIRMED FFFFFFFUCKYEAHHHHHHH

Sword Art Online

キタ━━━━(゚∀゚)━━━━!!!!

AWWWWWWWWW YEAHHHHHHHH PROPOSAL ACCEPTED.

Wow, I didn’t expect to rush through the KoB mini-arc like that so fast. Seriously Rushed Art Online wwwww

Still, we got all the fun stuff, including the legendary chapter 16 (not the .5 thankfully) animated in pretty much, except they cut out all the “Ethics Code” stuff out. Man, that would’ve been funny, plus it also explains a lot about them doing “it” in the game. Guess they really really want to get to ALO by October :/.

Loving the BGM work this episode too, hitting all the right notes at most of the time, most importantly during the proposal scene. Ahhh, A-1’s only saving themselves with that for now, because they really can’t do very good action scenes, seriously.

Next week, it’s time for another important character (that I’ve been waiting for 10 weeks now!) to appear. *coughdaughtercough*

Sword Art Online

Best end card so far!

According to the material editions both Kirito and Asuna didn’t have unarmed combat learned, where’d those glowing punches come from w

I half expected A-1 to shoe horn in Silica in the Arena audience (Like they did for Lizbeth) along with Klein & Egil screaming “KIRITO! KILL THAT M%#@#@^&R!”

Still quite a nice episode. Arena duel was cool, showing Kirito’s berserker 2-swords style & Heathcliff’s skill with a sword & shield.White Kirito….needs a bit more black outlines & such (Kinda like Player 2 version?).

I do hope whoever discovered the hidden Ethics Code option first got into some funny/weird/awkward shenanigans. It’s like hitting puberty again, discovering your body & it’s limitations…only…you know….virtual-ish?

Morning Dew Girl is coming next…need to see some stupidly cute lovey dovey couple moments & adorable Yui scenes.

Defeated in the duel Kirito looked so dumbstruck… “How it happened?” was written on his face…
It is good that despite all epicness of his skills he gets three important lessons this episode:
    1. There is always bigger fish – and in this case it is leader of Asunas guild (and now his guild too…), who makes a perfect balance of attack and defence. He might have some even more powerful tricks up his sleeve as it seemed he did SOMETHING to thwart his attack…
    2. There are underhanded, sneaky ways that can lay down even strongest fighters… like poison, for example. That bastard who tried to PK him came all too close to his goal…
    3. There are others who care about him and are scared not to lose him, first and foremost Asuna, and he can rely on them when he gets defenceless.
Last lesson, while a non combat related, is, when you get girl all determined and ready to go all the way, you dont leave her hanging on… At least he makes up with the marriage proposal immediately.

“ERUPTING BURNING FING-” Oh whoops, I think I got the wrong move there.
When Kirito stabbed Kuradeel with his hand, his face, the sound of the impact, along with Kuradeel’s own sound effects and of his HP dropping down to zero was just priceless. I think I giggled when that scene happened.
Oh that kiss scene! Not exactly like the LN, but whatever. A kiss is a kiss. I can’t complain too much about how Kirito was supposed to put his head into her shoulder after kissing her, instead of just hanging it down while talking to her. It’s not like it’d help with the mood or anything.
It was still a great scene. I teared up in joy when watching it.

So many people reviewing this episode on YT keep on saying how Kirito and Asuna didn’t have sex.. I can understand why they think that at First, with Kirito saying how he just wanted to spend the night. However, it’s also kind of obvious they did since she’s just sleeping there Naked (no bra strap at the shoulders?) under the covers with Kirito present.

That proposal was Sooo cute, especially with the music transitioning it into the ending theme. I shed so many tears during this episode.
Despite it being rushed, I think A-1 did a great job on this episode, considering the amount of time they have left to work with for the rest of the season.

Did I just saw Incarnation Attack killing Kuradeel? So Kirito invented it prior to Accel World’s time line which also appeared in this week’s episode… and Asuna also used one.

See the argument you can make regarding reusing scenes in the duel was….its a sword art, its meant to be the same every time.

    ITOU KANAE YUI. Cannot wait.
Great episode, but in the end still felt rather very rushed so seems like their relationship clicks in really fast when it should be more subtle that draws them in together. AH WELL. If it hits, ALO, that’d be very interesting (and would more continue SAO), but guess we can’t tell until possible new OP around the half way mark

It is very rushed even in the LN, because of space (or word) constraints that the author had to work with, so I wouldn’t fault the studio for this. The relationship is retconned and fleshed out much better in the side stories and material editions. The LN readers would enjoy the romance in this episode much more than anime-only viewers since they would just see this as the culmination of all the stories that built up Kirito x Asuna. I was d’awwwing the entire way as well… why is Asuna so perfect ;_; This episode and the last make up for the slightly slow starting though. Given the limitations that they had to work with I’m pretty happy with the adaptation, and nothing’s stopping me from reading the LN again, this time in Tomacchan’s voice for every line Asuna speaks :D

Can’t wait for next week as well (: MAMAAA~ PAPAAA~ Yui is uguumoekawaiid’aww, Itou Kanae is just icing on top.

people say it ‘feels’ rushed, and i’d agree it does ‘feel’ rushed, but when you actually sit down and think about the ‘pace’ is about right.
I mean without all the narration and inner monologue nothing happens much event wise.

  15. Kurogane Shiroikaze Said,

That’s the problem with the anime so far, none of the narration or monologue from Kirito that made reading the novels enjoyable.

  16. Matt Said,

    September 10, 2012 @ 1:10 pm

That’s the problem, by the sounds of it, they got a budget for 24 episodes, and they want to cover all of the light novels to date. Which makes this rushed. I think this type of anime would have been better with katanagatari pacing, maybe 12 1-hour episodes. Or, Fate/Night pacing, do two 24 seasons, and really stretch it out. I think tis series could hold up to that.

hope they don’t disappoint us by putting ‘fishing’ episode next week.

  18. Kurogane Shiroikaze Said,

Man, the fishing episode…. I wonder if they will actually put those parts in.

  19. ThatOneAsianKid Said,

    @Kurogane Shiroikaze
I know right?! I felt like something was missing and that was it. A lot of the time during the LN, I enjoyed just reading what Kirito was thinking to himself. It’s a shame they didn’t include much or any of his thoughts into these episodes.

I want the fishing episode as well. That chapter was such a nice change of pace when reading the LN.

Although I try not to look at it ahead of time … I ended up looking at the episode list for SAO on Wikipedia. It looks like there are only 3 episodes left for this season, 2 of which are dedicated to Yui, which is great, but that means everything after that, the rest of Volume 1, will be smashed into one final episode.. I’m curious as to how that’ll turn out.

Just wondering, but can an Anime have a longer season finale? Like perhaps, an hour long special instead of the usual 30 minutes? (With commercial breaks)

  20. Spike242 Said,

Feels rushed, agreed. Feels daawwww still. The difficulty of putting the monologue is the same with all LN to anime, cant help it. It may interrupt the flow of events if all the monologue is included, but at the same time, non LN readers wouldn’t get the conflict and the thoughts that were running through during the events. note the few times when they are about to hold each other but stopped half way. non LN readers wouldnt know what they were thinking to make them stop.

But they cut out the ehtic code part. WHY???

currently reading through volume 1 again. just had a urge for it.

i wonder if we would see kibaou in the next episode?
