Ano Natsu de Matteru 07

Ano Natsu de Matteru

… and we finally confirm our suspicions. It’s surprising how shocking it is still to hear it even after more than a decade of anime. Sure scantily-clad is quite regular, but full-on nudists are really quite rare…

This episode was really more of a Mio episode for me. I like the little irony that she is scared to expose herself to others (i.e. interact normally) due to the fact she is used to exposing herself regularly, in the physical sense of course. Of course, other than the slight difference in upbringing, Mio is still a normal girl and it’s heartening to see her love for Tetsurou finally drove herself to be courageous.

In a way, I really like to thank Rape-chan for her contribution in the matter… if it wasn’t for the fact she was apparently quite serious about trying it out.

Ano Natsu de Matteru

Yeah, I don’t feel like I can really laugh in the face of that further.

Back to Mio, while she’s finally overcome a big barrier to her love, it still doesn’t stop her from being one of the most considerate of the cast.

Ahh.. dammit, Mio. You’re such a good girl T_T. I really do hope they manage to end up together.

Back to our main couple… this week’s developments were frankly rather weak. Especially in how Kinoshita’s intrusion was quickly explained off as her way of distracting herself from the depression of being dumped. Quite a rather obvious development really, but I felt it could have been executed much better. Still, Ichika seems to have finally accepted her own feelings and is willing to try it out despite the possible hurdles.

And they were even very very close to first base too! Kaito-kun sure is suddenly taking the initiative…

…only to be Kannya-blocked.

Ano Natsu de Matteru

Seriously.

Ano Natsu de Matteru

And even took away his initiative too!

Remon-senpai!!!!!!!!!

Ano Natsu de Matteru

Dammit, where do I buy those Dynamite Drinks.

Ano Natsu de Matteru

Ah, I wished we had more of Kannya.

Well, that wraps up the entertaining Okinawa arc. While it was rather hit-or-miss at parts, overall it was a pretty good arc that sure kept in spirit with the Onegai series and even improved very well over it. It’s interesting to note that in OneTea, the side characters had more development over the main couple and it’s replicated here again in Ano Natsu. On the other hand though, I still feel the foundations of Kaito and Ichika’s OTP is still rather shaky especially on the side of why is Ichika truly in love with Kaito aside from the fact she feels a sense of duty towards him.

Perhaps we’ll see improvements in that next week, as the ticking timebomb of Kanna’s feelings are still on hold and it looks like next week’s episode might be tackling it back once more…

“Mio is still a normal girl ”

Either she’s normal or she’s a nudist. Cant be both. Surely you cant expect “normal” reactions from a nudist in a close relationship.

Hey, she was raised nudist, not chosen to be one. Also not seeing any reason why can’t have a normal relationship even if you’re a nudist.

Kanna should consider, that while sometimes life may give you lemons, there may be some advantages to eating Lemon.

    …right?

Hahaha, when life gives you lemons, make yuri ships out of it, amirite?

Also, I wonder if we should en quire too cloely about where, precisely that tail was attached. It seems a tad…low, doesn’t it?

By responsibility you mean as a caretaker or as someone who isn’t going to be around long?

Also, it seems that Rinon did something terrible, like sending the ship far away or something? Looks kind of interesting

Kind of wished Mio and Tetsuro would get it on already.

If you mean Ichika, I was referring to to the fact she “killed” him and might possibly feel guilty about it still, plus the treatment may not hold.

Good point about that plot device hiding in plain sight.

I had the strong sense from Kinoshita’s dialog to herself that she was serious about being interested in Kaito once she ran into him, even if the reason she was in Okinawa to start with was having been rejected by someone else. Her backing off quietly in the face of Kaito’s declaration despite this seems to fit in with a running trend in all of the characters (either of them being considerate or of them giving up too easily, depending on your view).

Well, she definitely likes Kaito-kun in the sense of them being childhood friends, plus she’s just suffered from a breakup so I guess she was just reaching out for someone.

Of course, since Kaito’s been quite firm in rejecting her advances, I guess she doesn’t want to put him in a pinch even more. Man, in any other case, I would go for Kinoshita… :P

From the beginning I suspected Kanna is going to be left as the fifth wheel. Don’t worry though, I bet if there is sequel ever made, Remon will get her someone to hook up with…
By comparison, Mio that started from similar position of unrequitted love is now getting into proper relationship – all due to the power of going commando!
