Well… that was… an interesting episode… that’s for sure.
It was kinda LOL AWESOME at first when Shana went a bit hysterical and BAKA-punched Yuuji with brute force, leading in to Sydonay teasing him. But then Kazumi decided to summon Pheles after all and the show went FULL VOLKSWAGON all of a sudden. Pretty sure something important to the context that’s in the novels has been cut out here and there, but seriously everything from the eyecatch onwards was like LOL WHAT?
It was kind of lol I guess seeing Yuuji getting owned by Johann (of all people), but man… I sure hope this is the last of the ridiculousness. Johann and Pheles sure was being literal when they said they were going to “ruin the moment”. They were… more successful than they would expect.

Oh good, I thought I am the only one who miss the main idea of this episode. Good Jacky Chen picture, that’s exactly what feeling I had when watching the story unfold.

This thing was bad when it was doing nothing. Then it got worse when everyone started figh… info-dumping more than usual. And now when we finally get some action involving plot-relevant characters (not that there’s a coherent plot to go with them) it becomes abysmal. My fond childhood memories concerning season one are getting more and more blurry…

Also, as a side benefit, Kazumi didn’t die! Yay! Not that I would have been horribly broken up over it if she had, but just on general principle, I prefer cute female characters to not die. (unless they’re voiced by Omigawa Chiaki, of course. Then they need to die ASAP)
