Negi died. But his soul will choose to go back in time, the time when he was happiest, and he will be at volume 1 first chapter. Asuna who loves Negi wants to be with him too and wants to be in a time when Negi loved her, but since he already loves his harem she’ll go back in time before Negi is born, and became his mother.
That’s right, you heard it here first. Possible with Chao’s time travel.
oh.chao is there.. so that means that asuna wasn’t the one negi chose right..hmm.who might that be.. there are still so many unanswered questions. how come it will end in just a few chapters….waaaaaaaaa
I think you have to wonder also if this chapter plus the other last ones is a way out of sorts.. could’ve sworn there was an interview with Akamatsu somewhat recently that didn’t imply Negi ending so soon :|
OOOOH YEAAAAAAH!!!!
Since Chao is there, I guess Asuna’s gonna get sent back in time to where she left for the 100 years, so it’s like she wasn’t gone at all, then they’ll have to fake all the stuff she read when she woke up so as not to cause a time paradox.
So after reading the whole chapter, I’m at an utter loss of words, other than being extremely irritated Akamatsu-san is ending this early when it clearly has so much more potential. Even if he wanted to wind it down, that’s fine, but there are so many unanswered questions, three chapters to explain everything, let alone attempt to have Asuna go back in time and set things right if that’s how Akamatsu-san wants to do it… or just give us a horrible, sad, bitter sweet ending that leaves Asuna missing out on her entire adult life with her best friends who have been through so much with her… SERIOUSLY AKAMATSU?!?
Maybe I’m just being paranoid, if he manages to wrap everything up and answer the important questions (Nagi being the mage of the beginning for starters!!!) and not make Asuna suffer the horrible life she currently is scheduled to… then maybe it might retain its spot near the top, right under Fullmetal Alchemist.
I can say, sadly, that I will lose sleep over this. Like I said, this is my second most enjoyed manga I have read, I mean all of Akamatsu-san’s work has been great and his style has only improved over time. Love Hina will always be one of my favorites, for example, but Negima was like the fruits of labor from all his past experience as a manga-ka, the series thus far has been BRILLIANT in every way, his artistic talent by itself, the fight scenes, the comedy, the character developement, everything… AND NOW THIS… it just, makes me so very, very sad.
I can only hope the last three chapters will repair what has been done.
Oh god. This chapter just made me cry so much. It’s one of my weird phobias to outlive all those I love without getting to spend time with them, so this hit me especially hard. I know that’s a ridiculous thing to fear, but there you have it.
I was so relieved when Evangeline and Chao showed up.
I wish we could’ve seen all the photos Asuna described. Pure fanservice, I know, but I’d have loved to see if Natsumi and Kotaro got married, and all the things the girls accomplished.
That’s what I’m getting at, it’s not JUST about Negi and Asuna, I’ve come to like all the class of 3-A and wanted to see some of how it played out. But instead, no, Negi is dead and Asuna has may have to live her life deeply scared and wounded and deeply depressed knowing she missed out on what SHOULD have been a life a joy and making memories with her friends… but wait there’s still THREE WHOLE CHAPTERS to try to change the past or just explain what had happened and try to convince us all that it’s still an ok ending to an otherwise epic series.
You know, ever since the chapter when Akira got her pactio card and “flashed stepped” all over the academy, it seemed to me like that whole chapter was just rushed through, from Chamo to having a hunch on how Akira’s card work, etc. What I’m getting at is I think the last 10 chapters didn’t go as Akamatsu-san had entirely planned so now he’s just trying to kill off the series, but he got sloppy with it and now has to recover some how. The only logic I can make of there only being three chapters left is that he has some epic, jaw dropping revelations in mind that he hopes will appease us, knowing we all hated that Asuna had to give up her childhood to save Mars.
I don’t know… it’s just all very stressful to think about, the next 3 weeks will go by very slowly and painfully, hopefully he can pull some magic trick and save the ending and the series.
The more I think about it, I don’t think there will be any time traveling and changing the past, it would be too sloppy for three chapters, you would need about 5-7 chapters minimum preferably 10 to polish the series off, I think Akamatsu-san just wants to justify this horrible, pathetically sad ending in three chapters and be done with it. This is looking to be a worse ending than Takahashi-san pulled off with Ranma 1/2.
Then again, I could be entirely wrong… we will see :(
Well, you know, I guess I am the only one, who liked this wreck of a plot.
Not so bad, really, it DOES kick you guts, IT IS sudden and emotional, and…well…somehow reminds me of Seymour The Dog, which isn’t bad reminder too(heartwrenching, yes, but so what? “True art is angsty”)
This. Is. Epic.
Makes you finally feel the flow of time in story.
I can appreciate a good twist but even though I knew what was going to happen after Asuna slept for 100 years, it still pissed me off because all the class that I came to love was dead at that point, short of Eva so that’s not a total loss, and of course Chao came from that time line so that makes sense too. What I’m getting at is the way they showed how Ayaka waited so long and clung to life to see her best friend one more time.. BUT NOPE NOT HAPPENING… that’s what might be getting at me the most… I almost expected Negi to have something go wrong in that plan of his, would be kind of boring if Asuna woke up and Negi greeted her and said, “Hope you had a good sleep, now let’s get to work”
I am just clinking to my last hope that this will be fixed somehow… I don’t want it ot end like this… maybe Choa will find a way to let Asuna go back in time and let her experience the life she deserves… three chapters is a bit rough to pull that off though… and do it properly… and did I mention that I think Akamatsu-san will prolly just leave us hanging as to how Nagi became the mage of the beginning…
It’s possible but working that out and having a GOOD ending in 3 chapters might be sloppy. Hell, ending it in 3 chapter from where it’s at now seems sloppy period. I think Akamatsu-san just want to be done with this series so he can work on something else, but we will see… next chapter won’t be out until end of the month.
