What can I say? This guy sure has his priorities right.

On one hand, I can’t deny this show had its entertaining parts but on the other, the production values are cheap as fuck (though not as bad as Symphogear). Even with fully uncensored oppai, I do wish the show didn’t look so…. artificial?

Also, feels weird having Yoko Hikasa as the leader while Itou Shizuka is her primary attendant… one would think it would be the other way around usually.

Still, this show seems entertaining enough. Who knows, it might actually turn out to be another Ichiban Ushiro Daimaou! Guess I will keep at it for now. This season is pretty sparse as it is…

Another Ichiban? Bah! Not enough Korone!

It’s funny that well over half this episode wasn’t present in the original novel. But I am not too mad about that as the original novel was pretty in the same rank as Infinite stratos. Highly generic but enjoyable.
Still it really is a shame that AIC got to screw with something to make it look worse than it actually is. They did this with Sora no Otoshimono as well…

I really got to ask, who was it on the animation team that said “Hey you see this point where the girl is asking the guy to go out with him? It’s too boring. How’s about we make some strange wind that flips her skirt up?”

Hm. Kurogane, could it be that you’re a bit… er… overly sensitive to animation lately? I really thought that for wide parts, Symphogear was animated quite alright, and I also don’t think that the HSDxD animation is “bad” by any means. For reference, grab any anime from 5 years ago and compare… we’re definitely better off nowadays. And not every anime with big animation budget is actually good (think Guilty Crown).

Anyway, this show is going to be my guilty pleasure of the season. The Light Novels behind it are quite enjoyable, so there’s a good story supporting the fanservice. And while I agree that a little less T&A would actually be better (because characters and story can perfectly stand on their own feet), I enjoyed the episode quite a bit. It’s like Bond movies. Turn off the brain, lean back, suspend disbeliefe and enjoy ^_^

    Fate/zero probably broke the animation-quality-o-meter

Yes, with their cg cars, cg GoB, cg Berserker, cg horses, cg wire bird. And don’t forget about the cg monsters. Oh, how awesome that looked!

@renkin If you are trying to sarcastically imply that Fate’s animation sucked, then you might want to head over to your local vision center.

There’s no point in going to a vision center. Renkins clearly blind.

Bah why does everyone care so much about animation quality? Do they think that every studio and team has all the time and money in the world to make every single frame look like a work of art? Nowadays every anime has sufficient quality anyway to be watchable so stop comparing everything to the high-budget animes like Guilty Crown and Fate/zero.

…because what was once impressive art was now common so we expect them to at least be that? Or because visuals have always improve year by year (compare, let’s say, earliest Astro Boy with the latest) so of course we’re gonna notice and compare when someone took a step backwards?

Well, you know what they say, if there’s really nothing one can say about the show, start nitpicking on the animation!

TBH, I don’t like the “washed-out” feel of the animation. If it’s the raw’s fault then I apologize. I mean, this looks almost looks like some upscaling was done on a DVD quality raw to 720p. I can’t describe it any other way.

Ah okay, I know what you mean. That’s caused by the source. AT-X airs with low-bitrate h264 transport streams. Unfortunately, that looks much worse than higher-bitrate MPEG-2 transport streams.

So, I’d expect the Blurays to improve on the picture _drastically_.

well, as my new years resolution of one anime daily went thru the windows, i am picking this as second friday show besides Shana – for pure, unashamed fanservice.

The fanservice was good, but the three idiot guys need to chill the fuck out. They make me feel even guiltier than necessary for enjoying it, then sad for being a hypocrite.
I don’t really know high-quality animation from low-quality, but it’s not the only respect in which this is obviously not comparable to the likes of F/Z. I’ll check out the light novels since a few good words have been said about them, though.
