Ben-To 12

Ben-To

Well, that wasn’t as good as the Monarch Butterfly arc.

In fact, it was pretty ridiculous. I mean, “Fuck, those bitches be beating us up all nights so lets let them get first pickings” is the way to beat the twins? Sounds more like “You just don’t have the fucking balls to win them don’tcha” more like. You disappoint me, Heracles.

Still, Ben-To was decent enough a watch given the entire idea of the series. I really liked the “Honor and pride amongst wolves” idea and it would have been nice if they ended the show by emphasizing more on that instead. The twins were nice to have, but I felt it would have been a nicer ending if they swapped the arcs instead. Way it is now, feels like the show peaked at episode six then floundered around a bit and went out with a whimper.

Ben-To isn’t too bad of watch, as long as you don’t expect too much from a show about people fighting over half-priced lunch boxes. Just maybe might wanna stop at episode six or maybe seven, since the show doesn’t really go too well after that.

Liked: I guess it went OK.
Rewatch: Not… really.

Ben-To broke alot of patterns, and it had a bit of a minty fresh aftertaste because of it…unfortunately just breaking the pattern isnt enough on its own to carry the show.

Again, my favorite part involved Oshiroi, for no reason, narrating her ero novel out loud in the background while Satou explains the situation. It got the point where I could only enjoy this series when it made fun of itself.

That and Ume sexually harassing people in the bath tub. Actually, that episode was what forced me not to drop the series… wish I had more of that.

I liked the series. It might not be a as tasty as homemade bento done by your own girlfriend, but is definitely worth occasional scrap in the supermarket…
Nose-bleeding Oshiroi with “good job” and “thumbs up” is one of my fave wallpapers now.

I only hope that the Sawagi twins will have more screentime on the next season!

Not enough Yarizui-sempai in the last episode. :(

The rest of the series aside, Hana’s random squeaks, grunts and babbling made it all worthwhile. Aoi deserves an award for her reading of “Muscle Cop” alone: http://himado.in/78241

    “M-Madoka-sama.. what are you writing?”

You seem to love the term ‘whimper’ lately, Kuro.

Ah yes, Ben-To, I don’t think I have ever dropped a series due to a lesbian character being so overbearingly annoying before. It sure broke alot of new grounds there.

I’ll never be able to finish this unless there is a version that edits out all Ume and Satou events.

As I have spouted continuously over the past several months, Ben-To’s focus on honour is just showing us the ridiculousness of homeless people. Whilst these men take pride in their pride to compete for half-priced food (being not homeless, but poor), they neglect to find a proper job and earn enough money to buy full-priced food – or at least learn to cook themselves a decent meal. Simultaneously, it strikes ridicule in the ‘coupon mentality’ so many have exhibited within the past decade, buying things not because of its utility, but because it’s ‘half-priced’.

…I don’t think many people saw this very well. I guess Ben-To failed in its message :X
