Ro-Kyu-Bu! 11

Ro-Kyu-Bu!

Healthy girl fanservice in my loli basketball anime?! More likely than you think!

I have to say, the scene at the river after Aoi and Subaru’s morning run together was pretty touching. If I didn’t know better, I would say that qualifies damn well as a love confession. I just hope Subaru isn’t that big of a lunkhead to not notice it :).

Ikoku Meiro no Croisée 11

Ikoku Meiro no Croisée

Probably the most touching episode of Ikoku Meiro to date so far. Lots of crying, but glad it was resolved by the end of it.

Yeah, this episode sure took its time appearing. On the flipside, it’s only 2 more days till the ending episode… but I don’t feel like wanting this to end :(

Yune’s recollection and guilt about her sister was much more sad than I thought, but it was also a lot less heavier too, since I expected something worse. I wonder how did she get the eye color from though, must have been a rare thing. Poor girl.

Claude’s asshole level sure shot up this week, denying Yune going out with Alice and all. One more thing I’m still feeling not fair about is Claude’s past and his issues with his father. How dare he keep it a secret, yet pester Yune about her sister like that! Thankfully, Oscar-sama is a real magician isn’t he? If not, poor Yune… he can’t even properly comfort her or just keep his damn mouth shut!

Weirdly enough, next week is one of my favourite chapters of the manga, The Cat Above the Roof. Yune’s neko-obsession and cuteness is over the roof in this one but it does hint on Claude’s father’s death. Perhaps they will be actually showing that properly. It would also mark a nice stopping point for the series as well.

The iDOLM@STER 11

The Idolmaster

Man, we didn’t get a purely Takane episode did we? Oh well :(

Going in to the final legs, the 765 Pro idols (minus Ryuuguu Komachi) get to do a live performance and they put all their best in to it. It was also half a Haruka episode (surprising considering she’s supposed to be the flagship idol of the series) where thanks to her optimism, she manages to get everyone working their best. There was also a little extension of the character development between her and Chihaya from the earlier cooking battle episode.

Looks like Miki drama will constitute the final episode. Producer-san, you big liar!

Mawaru Penguindrum 10

Mawaru Penguindrum

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFU— There’s another SURVIVAL STRATE- penguin hat!!!

Well, this was certainly an eventful episode. Hocchan’s portrayal of Masako send shivers down my spine, that’s for sure. Although I must say, the animators need to lay off the drugs a little. Two episodes back to back of the weird spaces thing without much explanation is beginning to get on my nerves. And it’s not as inspired as I would like too!

I really wonder what’s Masako’s beef with Kanba… and that mysterious new girl too. Evidently he’s done something bad enough that Masako is driven to foil his schemes and kidnap Shoma to threaten him… and then kisses him after doing all that. Right now it’s really confusing, but this seems to go way beyond just merely Masako getting spurned by Kanba.

And Kanba… nice job shooting yourself in the foot with Himari’s questions.

Mawaru Penguindrum

A bit too late innit?

P.S. Sure didn’t expect that funky Hocchan version of DEAR FUTURE.

Usagi Drop 11

Usagi Drop

I’m going to miss my weekly dose of Rin-chan ;_;

11 episodes passed by a flash, but I’m actually relieved it’s only 11 episodes. God knows what would the show be like if they showed the ending of the manga… well, let’s not talk about that here shall we?

I’m quite satisfied with the adaptation of Rin-chan to the anime medium and Production I.G. certainly did not disappoint at bringing the manga to life. It really emphasized nicely the feelings of sacrifice by parents and the wonderful feeling of parenthood through Daikichi’s interaction with Rin as he takes care of her. It’s still quite an idealized vision of it (if you have a brother 12 years younger, I’m sure you’ll know…) but I’ll be damned if I don’t feel like giving this parenthood thing a try if it ever happens to me after watching this show.

Probably one stroke of genius of the show is getting a real child to do Rin’s voice, that gave it a feeling of authenticity to her character. Not sure if that will lead on to good things later for her (the seiyuu), but for now, Ayu Matsuura’s voice is immortalized as Rin’s for me. I’d probably hear it when reading the manga again too lol.

Usagi Drop is one of the best shows of the season, no doubt about that here and a very proper inclusion to the noitaminA stable. Not surprisingly though, wishing for a sequel isn’t one of the top things I want for this show. This show is perfect as it is… and it should be left that way, hopefully.

Steins;Gate 24

Steins;Gate

… and they all lived happily ever after. The End.

First of the endings of this month, Steins;Gate bowed out decently. I can’t say I was excited about it since Wiki spoiled me a long time ago about the ending, but it still left a nice warm feeling in my heart.

For the show itself though, I felt like it could have been better, especially during the middle episodes where Okarin had to solve the characters’ problems one by one, which resulted in a few cringe-worthy episodes. Otherwise, it carried itself quite well for an adaptation and definitely did manage to bring out the struggle Okarin faced in unraveling the mess he started.

Another aspect that disappointed me is the whole CERN angle, which went to nowhere apart from being the sole scapegoat of Mayushii’s inevitable deaths. I was really hoping to have some exposition on that part, but it eventually got lost through all that looping around. In the end, the blame just fell on Mr. Braun and that was it. Some of the science-fiction parts did also get too fiction for me, but oh well, can’t really expect realism from this.

As much I’d like to say S;G is one of the better shows of the year, I don’t think I could honestly claim that without lying to myself. It IS a decent enough show, but was it impressive enough for me? No, unfortunately not that much overall. Still, it’s watchable, but I really wonder what is the movie that’s following it going to be about. Hopefully not a digest version of the series.

Kamisama Dolls 11

Kamisama Dolls

I will have to agree with Mahiru, those “two” are pretty outrageous.

Guess we finally know why Kyousuke called her a “typhoon” last week. She actually does teleport around in a typhoon-ish barrier thing.

It’s sad she only appears right when the show’s about to end, because she’s really stealing this show entirely, what with her out-of-control antics coupled with that arrogance and a one-track-mind towards getting Kyohei. Kana-tan sure sounds like she’s enjoying the heck out of this role. She really should get a few more roles that allow her to go entirely crazy like this.

Can’t wait for next week’s KamiDoll already!
