Hanasaku Iroha 22

Hanasaku Iroha

Oh god, Denroku. What did they do to you?!

I am never inviting Yamakan Jiroumaru to any weddings never ever again.

The good thing about this episode was that Minchi and Ohana’s little romantic feud is finally over, after another fight (this time much more up to true tears‘ standards) where Minchi inadvertantly blurts out her long-standing crush in front of Tooru, who to his credit, quickly explains “it’s not like that” between him and Ohana. I must say though, that was a pretty wimpy way to resolve things, especially after Ohana rejects Minchi’s demands by saying she’s going to only continue her one-sided crush on Kou-chan instead of choosing Tooru. You do know he’s not dead, he’s very willing to go out with you and he’s still waiting for you, right? Interesting tidbit there from Satsuki about Ohana’s dad having passed away 15 years ago though.

Otherwise, the wedding went out without a hitch… well except for Denkako, and poor Tomoe not getting the wedding bouquet. Looks like she’s gonna be single for a while longer, though I wonder if she’s serious about going after Ren-san… ahahaha.

The show’s finally moving to the final arc though, as the episode’s epilogue has Sui springing on her intention to close down the inn after the festival. Preview is also showing Kou-chan appearing again, so I hope the show is going to be back on track after that month or so of meandering about with side characters and what not.

Too bad Ko’s probably dating book-girl by now. Oh well, one rivalry ends, another begins.

The last episodes better be worth the wait. The entire second half has been pretty terrible.

I am pretty disgusted with recent Ko/Ohana relationship development. The preview hints that Ohana is going to confess to Ko and him obviously still having feeling for her I can see them walking hand in hand into the sunset. BLEH.
I was hoping that HanaSaku will be different and won’t go down the ususal road. I am already so fed up with all that “childhood friends must turn into lovers crap” that happens all time in anime.

Hanasaku seemed promising at first I was so happy to see that somebody finally had the guts to say that first love doesn’t necessarily have to be the last and people can just move on with their lives and start going out with somebody else (see Ko and that bookstore girl, Ohana and Tohru possibly)

But NO. Creators obviously are not brave enough to change things and we will get another sweet pairing destined to be together from the beginning. :((((((

Piyo: There are many anime where the couples go the other way round, where the childhood friend happens to be just that and the girl/guy gets with the new person in his/her life. I think Hanasaku could have done better, like who cares about Enishing and his wife, the movie at Kissuiso episodes pretty much sucked.

As for the triangles, I thought it was better that Ohana didn’t even care about Tohru. That would have been typical, instead she remains faithful to the feelings she has been avoiding to face.

I never saw Hanasaku as some type of atypical romance, Ohana and Tohru never had that many romantic typical moments, and the book-girl was just there to make Ohana react. It’s all about how they grow, especially and mainly Ohana, not to show how to move on or something. What makes this romance interesting is how Ohana didn’t know what to do and has always been in love with him but was never brave enough to face that. Then she just sucks with romance, what’s with the one sided crush thing, gosh.

This series could have it’s own “I want my beloveded to be happy” page on tvtropes after all these romantic shit storms

True story: I spat my drink the same time as Tohru when I saw Denroku in drag.

The whole Denroku thing was traumatizing, I cannot Unsee.

At least ‘mother of the year’ seems to be returning next episode and there is absolutely no sign of Omurice anywhere.

Don’t you guys think that Beanman is so hot?

But yeah, the Ko/Ohana thing is a bit convoluted and played-out.
