Madoka BD Vol. 4

Puella Magi Madoka Magica

… and now, I have collectively spent almost RM 1,000 (~340USD) on an anime series. Tohohohoho.

Anyways, as a proud owner of a PS3, I can immediately watch it and oh wow, SHAFT really redrew quite a bit for both episodes 7 and 8. Some of the scenes were even quite okay in the TV series but SHAFT just redrew them from a proper angle. Some of the really noticeable ones included;

from episode 7: Homura talking to Madoka on the school rooftop, the fight with Elsa Maria also added more blood for extra brutality effect.
from episode 8: the fountain in the park scene where Kyubey almost got Madoka to contract with him, honeycomb-ed Kyubey turning black, the scene with Kyouko trying to comfort Sayaka but instead sees her Witch transformation.

Weirdly enough, some of the “meduka”-quality scenes were left untouched. I wonder why….

The OST isn’t as memorable as the first one for me though, seems like they put in all the grim and sad tracks in to this volume.

I am at a loss to understand why you’d spend that much for BDs with only two episodes on them.

This is why anime sales never took off in Denmark, the distributors tried the same crap here as in Japan, selling a series as individual DVDs. So to buy a season of The Simpsons, you buy a box with a whole season, but to buy Love Hina you would need to buy 6 individual DVDs.
Naturally no danish anime fans would put up with that crap, and imported the box sets from the US instead.

I own a large anime collection, but only one, Akira, has been bought domestically.

All I can say is… being otaku is suffering.

In any case, I’m not exactly starving myself to buy them blu-rays, so it’s okay. This is a choice made out of love. I don’t exactly throw around that much cash just for fun.

Hell, I know a few friends locally who spend waaaaay more than 300 USD a month for figurine preorders and artbooks. In comparison, 340 USD over 4 months really isn’t that much money wasted.

Wow, so there were actually changes made to the series…as expensive as they are.

If you love something enough (and if your income can support it) then buying their products might feel like it was worth your money no matter how expensive it is. Thats how I feel when I buy my World God Only Knows BluRays (all of S1 and vol1 of S2….thats a little over $500 spent on it so far).

Then again I dont buy 2 copies of each volume lol….I guess my love is not as strong as Kurogane’s yet

Dang BluRays. It’s 1995 all over again, like when I paid $30 apiece for Geneon and ADV titles that were packaged the same way….

… You know you’re wasting money when you buy two copies of the same thing just for the hell of it. You could spend the money you used for the second copy for so much else…

    Love, huh.

Eh, you still haven’t spent as much as the Kara no Kyoukai box set. :D

Though it took me about the same amount of time to save up enough on the side for it since I didn’t want to halt all my other purchases for 4 months.

    *only* RM1000 on a series?

Oi, the last thing I want people to do is to criticize those who actually pay for their hobby. Get off Kurogane’s back, will you? If you wanna finance the anime industry, doing it for Madoka is a pretty good way to do it.

Two copies isn’t actually that much compared to the crazy ones that buy several ones in Japan.

Also, it’s actually only one copy, I’m sharing shipping with another friend or each blu-ray would be like an extra 10 USD more tohohohoho.

    >-No subs

Why would you need subs if you have memorized the entire dialogue?

    >-No audio track (dub)

    GTFO, NEWFAG.
