Hanasaku Iroha 11

Hanasaku Iroha

Pretty dramatic episode as Ohana reunites with her MOTHER-OF-THE-YEAR over the case of the magazine article (where Kissuisou received a dismal 5/10). Cue much mother-vs-daughter drama. Those two, despite the extremely dysfunctional relationship with each other, are pretty similar in the weirdest ways. Although I would say Ohana gets a bit more points for her sheer stubbornness. And calling her mother “baba” outright. Satsuki does deserve it a little bit…

That eventually made a weird shift to Ohana bumping in to Kou-chan and finding out that she’s gotten competition in the few months she’s left him. Which, coupled with the jealousy and probably a good dose of juvenile hormones led Ohana in to sharp downward spiral of negativity that got her another nosebleed, courtesy of running straight in to a pole (I laughed inappropriately at that unfortunately), although salvation came in the form of Tooru and Minchi coming to Tokyo to find her. Oh boy. That’s not exactly the best or right combo isn’t it?

Hanasaku Iroha

Included this due to the sheer ugly-cute-ness of it

Next week, more of Ohana’s adventures in Tokyo, joined in by Minchi and Tooru. Should prove to be fun.

And when is Yuina actually going to be a proper main character?

I too want more screen time for Yuina.
Ohana’s mother is inbetween being a caring mother and a selfish one.
I like how the tension with the love triangle feels a bit realistic than others shows.

I can see some future plot development, since all the local inns had gotten bad reviews. All written by a person who never paid them a visit. I’m guessing the builders of the new hotel are the ones behind it.

I don’t really blame the mother, she is entirely selfish, but who made her that way? I’m sure she’ll show up at the inn eventually, than we can see the grandmother and the mother in a contest to win the bad parent award.

The thing about Ohana’s mom is that I think it occurred because she was sick of always seeing the customer as “first” and finally wanted to do something for herself. She just spiraled out of control with the sort of freedom that comes with living on your own. Because her mother was all about the customer, Ohana’s mom became all about herself. Hopefully, Ohana will be somewhere in-between.

I’m such a sucker for Ohana and Ko-chan though. Seriously, if this new girl comes in the way and ends up with him, I will flip a poo. It’s obvious that Ohana really cares for Ko-chan and really loves him, but she just hasn’t decided what kind of love it is yet. She’s been so stressed in life, so I wouldn’t even blame her. When has she had the time to seriously sit down and think about her life between school, her sucky parent, and working at Kissuiso? I think Ko-chan understands that and is willing to wait for her to know what her decision is. I just hope she makes the right one.

Unfortunately, Yuina’s probably never going to be a main character :P

I don’t really feel sorry for Ohana’s love problems at all. She was being flakey and needs the wake-up call.

The whole time I was screaming at Ohana to tell Ko how she loves him and to not walk away… *cries tears of disappointment*

The KouHana shippers don’t approve of this episode. And especially the preview.

    *is not one*

I just noticed that those flower clips are growing (4 petals compared to the 5 present-day Ohana wears)

What is a ship without some bad weather to sail thru?
Ohana needs to make up her mind and respond to Ko-chan’s confession, better late than never…

That face… Ohana looked like a discontented frog that killed a teenage girl, stole her hair and clothes, then started feeling remorse. I seriously thought that, and couldn’t take the rest of the episode seriously as a result.

At least they admitted to the melodrama, which was in here in spades. Then again, I’d be pissed too if I had a mother like that write something that scathing about my place of business.
