Dog Days

Dog Days

“Oh god what have they done to my Milhi?!”

Lol, seriously Seven Arcs. Why the sakuga destruction on the concert this week? Why? And I’ve already chosen one of the better looking shots of Milhi from the concert too!

I mean, the rest of the episode was actually looking decent and even had a pretty nice scene of Yukikaze and D’Arquien sealing off the demon katana once and for all. Then the much awaited Milhi concert came on and it’s… sakuga? Seriously? ORZ

Ahem, that aside, this week’s episode was actually quite a bit better than last week’s. The little fox is saved, Leo and Milhi finally make up politically and privately, Eclair blushing, etc etc. Then… there’s the concert. Sigh.

Dog Days

We wanted more of this, Seven Arcs

Well, with the prediction plot device and demons out of the way, it looks like the next episode will be on Ricotta since it seems she’s found out a pretty disturbing piece of news. Bet it’s related to Shinku’s return trip.

i thought sakuga refers to well done and fluid animation?

Eclair is a miracle of the Dogniverse

Seriously, was the concert this time done by a different artist? All of the characters, not just Millhi, look really weird, especially the eyes. The extra stuff with the lights and spinning camera was not necessary. Just give us consistent character designs!

The song was pretty amazing, though. Can’t wait for the release of it and the song from the first concert, Kitto Koi wo Shiteiru.

    Guess the budget’s used up.

This is becoming the second Dragonaut. Seiyuu? Good. Story? Nah.

    @ Peanutbutter003
I actually don’t even know. I mean, everything before the concert was excellent but the concert itself was not that great. It’s not great only because of the characters though and not the background and stage because those were in my opinion fantastic. So I don’t think it’s an issue with budget but something else. It’s like suddenly the team that did all the character animations suddenly all became sick so they had to hire new character animators and that’s cause characters that don’t like like what they supposed to do. Just watch it and you will see.

Oh I see. I wasn’t sure what a Sakuga was and looked it up. It’s an actual style of animation so although I thought the concert was beautiful (which is what it was aiming for), I’m also not really used to it. But yeah the characters just don’t look like what they did before so that’s one of the problem I still think remains.

The maid jerking the light stick right before the concert was classic. As the lights were going off, next to Leo-sama, the maid in there.

    Lowly paid artists my guess.

I just noticed something after rewatching this episode.

When Yukikaze and Brioche finished off the cursed sword, she said that they have done so for the past hundred years. Yukikaze referred to herself as a fox god (and noted that the young earth god was her kind) and Brioche as a holy dog.

So that means the two are not really the same species as the rest of the cast, but something higher. Rolan mentioned before that he was honored the two consider their allegiance to Biscotti, hinting at their divine nature.

In a brief flashback in episode 9, you see a young Yukikaze crying over the dead earth god. She is probably that species too, except for some reason she has a humanoid form. Same thing with Brioche most likely.

@Peanutbutter: The second Dragonaut? Hah, no, this is merely underwhelming. Dragonaut was out-and-out horrible.

Dunno what the hell happened with that animation at the end, there.

I’m kind of hoping that the anime will pull out a twist as we come up on the end, but I doubt it’s going to happen. I’m guessing it’ll be the standard memory wipe/See copies of the dog folk in his world.

On an unrelated note, because I need to get this out: I’m so god damn tired of tsundere.
