Dog Days

Dog Days

After this, nothing else will matter in this episode.

Or maybe not.

Well, this was could have been an pretty epic episode if you only watched the first half and ignored the entire origin backstory of the giant demon.

I mean, it’s not like that it was horrible, but the execution left a bad taste after expecting so much from last week’s episode. I guess I did hope for too much, but still.

First of all, what was the point of having Milhiore ‘die’ then get miraculously revived entirely naked in front of Shinku when she was still dressed like a second ago? Hell, she was even fucking dressed in the phantasmagoria sequence where people are usually naked there! Then they had to spend one minute relieved at each other and being embarrassed before the holy swords decided it was too cheesy and gave both of them free new clothes and a full party heal. All while they are riding on top of a giant destroyer god heading for the nearest city.

I was also rather disappointed with how fast Leonmitcheli got knocked out by the demon after all that build-up and then had to spend the rest of the episode unconscious before saving Shinku’s ass with a long range shot. And that was all she did. Fuck dammit, what happened to her awsm mode in episode 2? I even agree with Aroduc that there should have been more Takeshi Castle instead of this.

That brings me to Shinku. You should have fucking thrown away that demonic sword once you pulled it out. I mean, for fucks sake, this is a fucking sword that posseses GODS and turns them in to demons and shit and you’re just holding the damn thing after pulling it out? Not to mention he one-shotted the demon with Milhiore so fast. After all that build up and that thing only lasts one episode? Seriously?

I really would’ve preferred a showdown between Leon and Milhiore instead of this. I signed up for that, you know.

That’s weird. I was pretty sure I made a comment but it disappeared.

I think you forgot something. This is an RPG!! Remember that at the very last level where you are about to fight the last baddy, there’s almost always a little chat discussion with the party members and also a save/heal point? Well that’s what it is! RPG GO GO GO!!

Joking aside, besides the bad execution, I thought it was still quite enjoyable. About Leon awsm mode, she lost her footing and also she was in a rage so she probably wasn’t clear minded enough to fight. Besides did you see that crazy healing from the monster? After Leon dished out massive damage to the head (head shot!) it just healed up and acts as if it was nothing so I think it was not as easy as it seems. Also someone also theorize something about Flogna instability but I’m not really sure myself.

    >looking for a story inbetween the plot holes
are you just now realizing that this shows plot is shit? i thought this was an established fact since the release of the first promotion picture… watch it for the fanservice, or rather, don’t.

Ooh. Apparently the reason was that with the appearance of the monster, flogna went down tremendously which is one reason why you saw Shinku was jumping from place to place on his surfboard instead of just gliding like he did before. He was also thinking of using that super boost he did with the surfboard and Eclair won’t allow him to do it since it could kill him due to the low flogna in the area so instead she gave him a boost with one of her seal attacks.

7Arcs’ “Naked Girl in a vat fetish” satisfied at last. I knew they won’t let me down

The difference in weapons. While Leo’s axe is a special artefact, it’s not designed to be used against demons, thus it wasn’t all that efficient. The holy swords, in D&D terms, have “good” alignment and bypass demons’ X/good damage resistance. That’s why it were their owners who managed to seal that thing in the first place, it’s the reason why demon was specifically attacking those who were in possession of the swords now, and why even a single combo attack was more efficient than all the Leo’s efforts. They also seem to be intelligent weapons with healing ability and high ego score, so quirks of the character are to be expected.
Overall, very RPG-like, but in RPG context it kinda makes sense.

The evil sword didn’t turn into an EX-boss; I am disappointed. Otherwise I didn’t have any complaints. I sort of want to know where the evil sword came from now.

Haha that was fun. The best part of this ep was the naked Milhi reveal.

The pacing of this ep needed a lot of work. First of all, more Leo-sama awesome mode is necessary!! They should have cut out the boss monster’s back story since no one cares about that, made the Milhi vs Leo show down longer before the boss comes, and no awkward moments worried about nakedness when they’re riding on top of a giant friggen demon god. Shinku should have just “ignored” Milhi’s naked-ness and the two of them rescue the demon like that! XD Well it wasn’t really a bad ep. Still, no evil-sword ex boss was a waste of potential. I was actually looking forward to see it posses Shinku.

How many episodes total does Dog Days have? If there are still a bunch left, and they make use of the puppy god then maybe the back-story for isn’t wasted screen time. Usually I enjoy complex villains but there’s no point when you rush in some giant monster, cook up a sob story, then tell the audience to sympathize with it. You need time to grow attached to the characters for such things to work.
