Nichijou 01

Nichijou

Technically, goats are never usually mentioned on school policies in the first place.

Well, I was expecting myself to fall asleep halfway in to the episode, but Nichijou’s first TV episode proves to be a whole different ballgame from the boring-as-fuck OVA that came out a few weeks ago.

I did read a few chapters of the manga and I know the brand of surreal humor that comes with it, but I have to say that KyoAni managed to pull it off a lot more better in the anime than in the manga itself. I found myself laughing out loud and going “WHAT?!” quite a lot as I went through this episode, especially the tako wiener part.

Of course there was also the random nuclear explosion complete with falling akabekos and salmon cuts from the sky. But still, the most surreal part for me?

Nichijou

They managed to not mangle “selamat pagi” and “selamat malam”!

So far, sold. I hope they do more random Malaysian references. Durians would be good.

Durians are evil bludgeoning stinking weapons of spiky death invented by a Mother Nature that just don’t give a f*ck about us.

I have died laughing to this! So damn funny so far! A few people probably will hate this but with every new season of anime there are hits and misses.

Haha! Gotta say it’s kinda good for a first episode. Especially the part where the ‘octopus’ keeps slipping off her hands, chopsticks etc. The only thing I hope is that I won’t fall asleep halfway through.

The wiener bit had me sold already. I hope this doesn’t become repetetive and boring after a few episodes.

I’ve only watched Ep 00 so far but I really had no idea what the heck was going on. The first segment flew over my head higher and faster than an SR-71 Blackbird (what the heck were they talking about, sounded like a mixture of Freudian discussion and complete lunacy). 2nd one was a bit easier the follow but that didn’t stop me from shouting at the monitor about the damn key in that woman’s back (made the talking cat appear tame with regards to oddity) whilst the final section just felt like the writers realised they still had a few minutes left so lets just write something tame yet random.

In short, first episode felt like a perfect time-waster for sufferers of severe head injuries and cranial damage; though I’ve made it to never judge a show from a single episode, especially if it came from a DVD / netcast. Will try Ep 01 later today.

Yeah, if KyoAni or Arawa-san can do that!

I guess I underestimated them when adapting Nichijou.

Going super sayian trying to catch the wiener in mid-air reminded me of that rock-paper-scissors game between masters in HSDK, where Ma Kensei takes off the limiters and ends up disabling his own arm just to change to rock in the last possible millisecond.

Anyways, today KyoAni once again taught me that you can make anything funny if you put your heart into it.

I didn’t even crack a smile watching this show. About the only thing that I found mildly interesting was the wiener incident. Everything else just bored me. Gonna give it the benefit of the doubt, and watch a couple more episodes before dropping it though.

To Indonesians that is butt hurt, here the thing.

Malaysian, Indonesia, Brunei and the Philippines all come from the same root. The language is not even ours to be exact. It comes from many roots. Like it or not the trait that we share will be the same at some point, so don’t go butt hurt.

At least we are more civilized not to go butt hurt over some petty issue. Should I mention how many Indonesians are here in Malaysia to find work? How many of them said they love Malaysia? Extremist are not good.

Both country can prosper together if they want, it’s just a matter of time and effort.

Seriously, some people are trying too hard to be unique…
I’m Indonesian but i dont hate Malaysia.

Be “Sepak Takraw”, “Selamat Pagi”, or “Selamat malam” are from Indonesia or Malaysia, doesn’t matter. We’re all the same after all.

Seriously, even “Bahasa Indonesia” that we used is actually a formalized Malay language. It’s all from the same roots. Check the wiki, guys.

  33. rheist Said,

    August 17, 2011 @ 2:54 am

well.. actually indonesia language and malaysian language is from the same root which is “malay” language (or i call it bahasa melayu).. so be it..
maybe some people here is react harshly when they see that this review say that this anime use malaysian reference without justification of any other language..

for the reviewer, please see lots of another anime review that say indonesia/malay reference to prevent useless debate from the racist like here…

there’s too many problem emerged between us.. do not let this wonderful anime be the one…
