Does an anime really need any other premise than 獣耳 to be good; the more the better ? :D
Need to watch this asap. Just for the ears sake. Maybe also for the tails sake.

Please hero, we need you to save the kingdom…from being depressed.

That is….without a doubt….the dumbest reason I have ever heard. They kidnap a kid, take him away from his parents, life and friends and bring him to some whacked out place, tell him to join in a war that has nothing to do with him without even considering his opinion, and all this just to keep the kingdom from getting depressed.

    Come on Humans!
(Starts playing ride of the valkyries)
Let’s show these bastards a real war.

  17. Metalnsnakezero Said,

    April 4, 2011 @ 6:22 am

Yeah, the plot may not be going anywhere if this “war” isn’t really a war but an event. I hope there is more to it.

I’m trying to decide if this show is stupid-stupid or awesome-stupid.

  19. Dakkar Said,

Actually, the setup is well thought out and makes perfect sense unlike other “let’s summon some random kid to an alternate fantasy world” shows. I won’t be surprised if he makes it back before the end of the summer vacation and with enough practice to win that competition. For now, he’s got precisely what he loves and practices for – circus.

  20. edru Said,

    April 4, 2011 @ 11:34 am

if you check it out closely, the enemies are cats while the ones who are in trouble are dogs.

  21. J3N0V4 Said,

    April 4, 2011 @ 11:48 am

If one of those bitches doesn’t go into heat at sometime during the season and try to fuck him senseless I will only be marginally happy with this series. If they do then this could already be one of the best shows this season

  22. Beruchi Said,

    April 4, 2011 @ 7:52 pm

how many of those “let’s summon some random kid to an alternate fantasy world” shows do you know, I kind of like that, so I would appreciate some other titles^^

  23. Cho_Hakkai Said,

    April 4, 2011 @ 10:58 pm

This anime blend “Ninja Warrior” into the story where they name it “Iron Athlete” and the war look like the “Ninja Warrior” maze.

  24. FlameStrike Said,

    April 5, 2011 @ 10:13 am

Heh, for once the summoning actually makes sense. You know how they always pull random kids off the street with no criteria at all? In this show they actually get an athletic kid to complete in an athletic tournament.

  25. Dakkar Said,

    April 5, 2011 @ 10:13 am

If we were to talk about the story based around alternate dimension/world travel, the ones I’ve seen would be 11eyes, Amatsuki, Asura Cryin’, El Hazard, Escaflowne, Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari, Juuni Kokki, Noein, Zero no Tsukaima.
There are shows which have elements of alternate dimension, like Rozen Maiden or Pandora Hearts, but those dimension aren’t full-fledged worlds. There are shows like Tsubasa Chronicle or Kurozuka which feature a kaleidoscope of worlds/times. There are shows which are closer to Dog Days than most of the above, like Utawarerumono, but they formally feature no dimension travel. There are shows where common kids get dragged into outlandish events in the real world which make it feel anything but normal, and among those the percentage of crap is the highest…
Overall, it’s one story if you’re looking for shows which formally incorporate dimension travel element, and another if you’re interested in the shows which feel sort of similar to Dog Days.

[…] Kurogane pretty much sums this epi up. […]

  27. Beruchi Said,

    April 5, 2011 @ 5:02 pm

thx a lot. It doesn’t necesserily need to make sense, but a little bit reasoning behind the summon/travel would be nice XD
(Am more interested in an (unwilling) summon of someone into a different world then an existing alternate world in itself)

  28. R Said,

Dogs Days is Zero no Tsukiama, without everything that makes it Zero no Tsukaima.

  29. foshizzel Said,

    April 5, 2011 @ 6:34 pm

Not even Takuto could save this crap show! It’s like part ninja warrior and Zero no Tsukaima smashed together with Takuto thrown in.

Probably dropping this from the start, not sure what could draw me into this again.

  30. Dakkar Said,

    April 6, 2011 @ 7:46 am

Then, if you haven’t seen them yet, Amatsuki, El Hazard, Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari, and Zero no Tsukaima are the shows to start with. Escaflowne and Juuni Kokki have female protagonists, so that might be off.
Personally, I’d recommend the original El Hazard OVA and Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari.

  31. KK Said,

…this show is like a clone of Marchen Awakens Romance. Except with Parkour instead of a low-gravity world.

  32. Yuun Said,

    April 7, 2011 @ 12:28 pm

I got different equation here though:
Takeshi Castle + Louise no Tsukaima = Dogs day.
