What the Fractale?

Fractale

What the Fractale? WHAT THE FRACTALE?

Wow, that was horribly botched. This is one of the moments where I wish I had Aroduc’s gift of gab because I have no words to describe how bad it is. It’s just sheer nonsensical.

First, there was rabid infodump about how they got the ages of the Phyrne’s all wrong for the past SEVEN HUNDRED years and it took one pervert to find out they were off by 6 years. Then there was the stabbity part, Phyrne and Nessa suddenly doing an about-face-turn and deciding to become the thing that SHE’S BEEN DREADING THE WHOLE FUCKING SERIES for. To make things worse, the other bastard went huggity-boom with the big bitch and then hardass dying for the sake of PUSHING A FUCKING ELEVATOR BUTTON. And that’s just the good part!

Then we get the real reveal that Phyrne was actually a random sixteen year old joshikousei who volunteered for some shady company experiment and, get this. NESSA IS HER FAVOURITE BUNNY PLUSHIE that she has. I… what… seriously? This doesn’t even make a ick of sense at all? Of course after some random faux attempt at tear-jerking the audience, the oh-so-important ceremony is complete and time skips ahead a bit. Now, the Lost Millenium are teaching farming and touching random women’s butts while we get no fucking idea what happened to the Fractale system apart from it being restored some how. Then there’s Clain and Phyrnessa waking up from her coma and they hug and ZEE ENDO.

Fractale

I present to you, the two best characters of the show.

Really? Yamakan? Really? That’s all the best you can do after talking up shit of half the animation industry? This is actually worse than some of the “moe”-pandering shows that I’ve watched over the past 2-3 years. At least those shows didn’t try to be too pretentious. This should have been in Anime no Chikara, not Noitamina. You can have the license to be as pretentious as fuck over in that time slot, I hear. Well, he’s all set for retirement now! I think he was tweeting about how his life was over the other day too.

Oh well, another one done for the season.

Well I got that feeling since episode 07 (when they entered Xanadu) already and the end was much more of a downer than expected at the beginning…

Well I liked it. Except the ending.

This should have been in Anime no Chikara, not Noitamina.

Indeed. It was like this should have been the fourth Anime no Chikara show but got left in a basket outside the back door of Fuji TV with a sign saying “please give this show a home”.

It’s the least ‘Noitamina-ish’ show since the live-action Moyashimon!

Will anyone ever give any credence to anything Yamakan says, ever again? Doubt it!

You forgot to mention the giant glass elevator to the sparkly space garden.

Giant glass elevator was still okay. Sparkly space garden? Not so much.

What bugged me is how the shaft was still okay despite the base getting blown up.

Oh, and how the fuck did Clain get down from there?

I watched it just cause of Nessa :D

Well, when it was on episode 3-4, it was pretty awesome.. Then the trainwreck came. Then this episode aired and everything went like rainbows and bunnies bleeding everywhere while already spitting on each other.

    ^ What Eriker said.

    I have no regrets.

Hahaha this sounds like a really epic rant post, Kurogane.

Nothing which I couldn’t agree with, I got info dumped so badly. Add that to the fact that the events don’t exactly click with the story, and you’ve a very confused viewer. And an angry one, I might add.

    The ending was just…

What scientists use a girl suffering from a dissociative fugue as the basis for their world changing computer system?

I don’t know how Clain is going to adjust to his new split personality/”mind sort of a 10 year old” girlfriend…

You know, I hate when people say the overused phrase “I’m glad I dropped it after the second episode”, but I have to break the trend and be the first to say “I’m glad I dropped it when the director blabbered about pretentious bullshit pre-release.”

Now if you excuse me, I am going to rewatch Serial Experiments Lain again, thank you very much.

The series just felt like a big missed opportunity. They set it up for a lot of interesting things to happen, but never followed up on anything. Even with Ep. 11 they did this despite obviously doing an info dump to ramp up a few other things in the series. I would have liked to learn why Clain’s dad was living out in the middle of nowhere, what was up with the guy in the survival suit after the fall of Xanadu, what was the Fractale corporation like 1,000 years ago, and how did it become a religion? What was the original Phryne like? So many things left unfinished.

There’s also the lack of character development. Clain, Nessa, and Phryne hardly changed throughout the series, and Dias went from mysterious freedom fighter to trite suicide bomber. I have the feeling that if the series was longer, it could have been better if it took the time to flesh things out a lot more.

I’s say to get that bas taste out, you will need some “Everyday Life” or Nichijou, whcih judging by the new OP and ED (as oppose to Episode 00 OVA) looks like it might be KyoAni’s attempt to out Shaft SHAFT….with Lucky Star….on Crack.

Hey, don’t forget the good points of the show! Like, that it only had 11 episodes to plague us with.

I didn’t hate it and didn’t consider it a waste of time in the least. Really, it just needed to be either shorter or longer than it was.

At least it wasn’t nearly as bad as Infinite Stratos or Yumekui Merry

that was a complete waste of time, bandwidth and life… so this bye bye yamakan…. hahahahahahah

I’m pretty sure this is a fail because he didn’t use the potential of the slot.
