This was the entire episode. (Thanks Athos)

STAR DRIVER has the wrong heroine. Kanako is clearly the true choice even if she’s married. I’d NTR her even if I have to beat Takuto first.

Ok, back to serious mode. Clearly STAR DRIVER has been ill-written and this episode, more than anything, shows how rushed they were about the whole story. It was already pretty bad back at 23, but 24 just serves to confirm it. Introducing a new characters now? Throwing out infodumps about minor characters that have zero relevance to the story so far? It’s like they wrote this show, planning for a four-cour run but Blu-ray sales and economics forced them to end it early and now they’re just writing shit in all over the place to end the anime and then sell tons of “extended universe” materials taking from unfinished plot threads from the anime. God, I hate that the most.

Doesn’t help too that Keito has become a bad character, with her motivations hardly explained and nonsensical to say the worst. I still don’t get what they are trying to do with her character. First having her as the cool “insider/betrayer” type selling the Maidens out to the Crux but now she’s just Sugata’s cock sucker. I actually wish Head was still the main antagonist in this show. Sigh.

Speaking of Head… Y U SO GAY?!! щ(゚Д゚щ) (Also apparently his youth is Shingo’s First Phase. Idk, but w/e ( ´_ゝ`))

Also I hate how everyone and the show is forcing Wako to choose. Why can’t she enjoy it for a few more years first! It’s not like she’s obligated to get married at sixteen or something! I just realised how this is the polar opposite of how I wanted Macross Frontier to end too!

Well, hopefully episode 25 delivers something. I’m not expecting much at this point, but just don’t start the episode with all the footage in the preview gone through at the first 3 minutes, and then the rest of the show is Takuto, Sugata and Wako floating naked in space. Infinite Stratos already used up my Gundam homage quotient of the season.

keito wants herself and sugata to be free. she wants to break away from being a maiden and wants sugata to do what he wants. she also knows that sugata likes wako more than her and thus is not actively trying to get him. probably explains why she also broke up from the trio.

and she is kinda right you know. usually in a harem the main character doesnt really end up but in reality you have to pick only one. assuming from what wako’s friend was talking about, they’re probably going to graduate so its best to decide already. especially since she is engaged and also has an interest in takuto, she will have to end up with one of them. follow the engagement or break it.

Sugata will fall into coma once again when he sleeps since Keito is no longer an East maiden there to rejuvenate him.

I want a TakutoXKanako ending with Wako spending her life as a cougar.

    >Introducing a new characters now?
New character being? I hope you’re not going to say their teacher, because well, being the home teacher for 23 episodes does not go well with “being a new character”.

    >Throwing out infodumps about minor characters that have zero relevance to the story so far?
When did it happen? It’s pretty much all very related, and at least there’s a flow to the story, not just the main characters saying “things” without any contest whatsoever, which is what happens when episodes are rushed, exposition with abrupt starts/ends (because there is no time to introduce the exposition parts).

    >now they’re just writing shit in all over the place to end the anime and then sell tons of “extended universe” materials taking from unfinished plot threads from the anime.
    The unfinished plot threads being?
I actually hardly see unfinished parts, but it’s possibile I’m forgetting something.

    >First having her as the cool “insider/betrayer” type selling the Maidens out to the Crux but now she’s just Sugata’s cock sucker.
You know, it’s explained, she feared Head, and she needed to make him trust her.
Actually it’s what the staff said in the interviews, she is ready to do anything to get what she wants, but her objective is pretty pure (in contrast to Head, who is dominated by ambition).
The fact that she loves Sugata was made clear well before the half way mark, so I actually don’t understand why you’re so stuck up on her being all submissive with him.

    >Also I hate how everyone and the show is forcing Wako to choose. Why can’t she enjoy it for a few more years first!
Because she is actually being unfair with both, if they both confess and you don’t answer while keeping both you’re a bitch, it’s as simple as that.
She needs to grow (oh wait, Star Driver is all about adolescence and stuff, with leaving the island as a sign of growing up) and make a decision, and this theme is there from episode one. If you’re thinking than being immature and not giving a reply is how Wako should act I think you have some failed expectations on this.

Lol, the homeroom teacher wasn’t even introduced until this episde, AFAIK. And they just did the info dump about the random guy that hangs out with Takuto this episode despite him having about 5 minutes of screen time in the past 23 episodes.

As for the unfinished plot threads, maybe I wasn’t quite accurate with it, but it sure feels like they have a ton of backstory they can still tell and side-characters to delve in to. I wouldn’t be surprised if they made games or manga focusing on all these later on.

And as for Wako, the problem isn’t her not choosing, it’s how she’s feeling like she should be choosing due to pressure from societal pressures rather than from her own will. I believe she will eventually realize who she can’t live without more, so I feel she should be given more time to do so.

    Well written.

The homeroom teacher aside, the exposition on the minor character while may have been needless padding but a episode cant start off immediately in the action without having a prior jumping point established.

There is a back story to many of the characters introduce, and while they may never fully be explained manga, video game, or otherwise the production for the show was given one season. This means they had to work with they already had, hell the fact that they were allowed to have one more episode for the purpose of finishing the show just goes to show that the production team and writers are not rushing the show as much as you feel like they are.

Wako being forced to choose isn’t even a big a problem as you make it sound. The only people who are making her feel like she should choose someone already are her best friend(who has been “forcing” her to choose since the being of the show as a comedic device), the president of the Drama Club( Who yes is “forcing” her to choose), Sugata and Takuto( Who both had an episode to “force” her to choose both for different reasons). However, the “pressure” you see as a social one is actually more internally rooted. Wako for the longest time has been deciding who she wants more. Its through the interactions of the other characters that you see how heavily Wako reflects on this decision. Keep in mind this is one of the biggest questions in the anime it obviously isnt going to come until the resolution is concluded. If anything its terrible writing for her to have chosen early in the series or give a more clear indication on who she will choose.

Episode 23 was bad from an execution point of view. What happened wasn’t incoherent, but they did it in a way that it’s as if they were looking down on the audience.

I’m sorry, let me elaborate. Sugata, who to this point has proven to be willing to die before watching his friends suffer, suddenly decides to become King. NONE OF US is stupid enough to believe that he became King for the evulz, but the writers were dumb enough to HIDE his motives until the last episode, as if the fact that he’s still a good guy could count as a big reveal. They honestly expected us to be amazed at this development, and it’s this feeling of disappointment what pissed people off.

Then there’s Keito… the reason why episode 24 sucked is because the writers dared to turn her love for Sugata into a got damn plot point. I know everyone and their mother in this series is driven by their own ambitions. That’s not what’s wrong here– It’s because it’s CHEESY that it made me cringe. She could’ve been interesting, she could’ve had her own plans to manipulate Kiraboshi for her own benefit -like everybody else, really-, but in the end it turns out she worked under Head in order to protect Sugata from an up until now unaddressed threat.

Even that would’ve been fine, but rather than hinting any of this struggle or conflict of hers through the series, she’s portrayed as if having the time of her life playing the villain with just a slight fascination towards Sugata. Kind of like Manager, actually. Only not as badass at kendo and devoid of any purpose in life other than falling in love with a hot guy like a shoujo heroine.

    So it’s been 24 episodes.

However why is it that I still have absolutely no idea what cybodies are? Or why Zero time is sealed? Or who sealed it? Or what happens when it is unsealed? Why did that guy lock a maiden inside a birdcage? Why are there four maidens? What are star drivers? How are the drivers chosen? What is everyone working together for in the glittering crux?(I doubt they want world domination because the nurse seems ok as long as she’s got a boy toy to bang) How do the glittering crux get members? Why are almost all the leading members teenagers? Why is it they did fuck all before Takuto arrived?

I mean, I feel like I have just been watching development for throwaway villains that mean relatively nothing to the plot instead of the important things the whole time.

It amazes me that there’s still people who haven’t realized that the setting of this series is a got damn joke. That should’ve been clear by the time they released the nekomimi ninja meidos.

As far as I’m concerned, I found about 80% of the cast appealing, and I can honestly relate to people who watched this because of a particular character. That’s why it’s when they mess with their personalities that it gets on my nerves.

How is it possible these people are surprised by the identities of the kiraboshi?! Most of them have technicolor hair that no one else in the school has, and they don’t even tie it back or anything.

Wait, maybe it’s SOMEONE ELSE WITH GREEN/PINK/PURPLE/BLUE HAIR. Oh wait they took off the mask that doesn’t even cover half of their face it’s them OMG.

And did anyone expect Sugata’s secret identity to last more than one episode? Or maybe have Wako or Takuto realize “hey, Sugata’s missing, and there’s a new guy over on the Kiraboshi side with BLUE HAIR. Maybe he got the runs!”

Seriously, these characters are fucking idiots. This show doesn’t know where to draw the line between parody and serious story. I hope everyone dies next episode.
