Even the hairdressers are fabulous on this island.

So after a two week or so break, STAR DRIVER returns with a pivotal episode. Of course, whoever following Good_Haro’s blog has been pretty much half-spoiled about the next five episodes or so, but still it seems that SD still has enough up their sleeve to totally surprise us.

Mainly the Eva-esque parts this week involving Ayingott and its Eyes with Marino getting that “invasion” thing as well as the totally out of nowhere flashbacks of the twins’ memories minus herself while using the Eyes. It has also got to be said this is the first time ever we see a hint of “evil”-ness in the show. Previously it was more on the lines of “we have clashing objectives, so we’ll need to fight each other” kind of thing.

Other things that caught my eye was Head totally being able to fake not being in Zero Time then suddenly appearing late to the scene, the spoiler-tastic OP and ED sequences that feature what looks to be like a blue version of Tauburn (Samekh?! or Reshbal?) and a bunch of other Drivers from Kiraboshi that haven’t appeared yet so far. Also, Keito and Head in league, albeit that was already predicted a long while back so it wasn’t surprising.

Next week will be an important episode about the Twins and should serve as the real turning point for the series in to serious territory. Can’t wait for it. Also I wonder if Keito will get a song too, lawl. I don’t think Koshimizu’s a good singer though.

P.S. I don’t get why not many people want to watch this show. This is easily the most interesting show airing nowadays.

I think I enjoyed OniiZen way a lot more than I should have. Unlike OreImo’s supposedly “serious” take on the matter, OniiZen is over-the-top to the point of parody and it actually works.

Also well, Kitamura Eri is doing a bloody fine job as Nao as well. She’s hilarious as her and her fast-talking skills are really key in to making the inner monologues of Nao (which get VERY common) don’t drag out too long to lose the point of comedy. I love how KitaEri probably used up most of her voice range as Nao in one single episode, from super high-pitch loli voice in the beginning, the spitfire sarcasm-laden voice throughout and the serious, deadpan voice at the oniichan diary at the end.

I really didn’t expect to like OniiZen, but the first episode and KitaEri’s performance have proven otherwise. Guess I will be following it for now. Hopefully, it’ll turn out better than expected, but I’m not hoping for much for this show.

Thoughts:

Uh. I’m still actually trying to process down Rio Rainbow Gate, but if I have to say one thing about it, it’s that it’s so bad, it’s kinda LULZ.

I mean, hell, everything is so FABULOUS and shit and there’s even META POKER WORLD BATTLES I don’t even know where to start. Well, I expected retarded, I get retarded. I guess I am okay with that.

Seiyuu-wise, nothing to shout about. Everyone sounds like they are on auto-pilot anyways. I don’t blame them anyways. It’s not like this show is going anywhere.

Guess it’s worth trying out if only for the sheer LULZ, though I might just drop it if my watching buddies aren’t up for it. I don’t think I can survive this weekly alone ｗｗｗ.

Oh man, SHAFT. You guys sure popped up the badass-o-meter for Yue’s special. I regret not watching this sooner.

Seriously, I am OK with this if SHAFT gets to animate the entire Mundus Magicus arc for Negima. If they can keep this quality of the fight scenes in. Heck, I’ll even forgive them for the super-over-the-top transformation scene of Yue’s in this OAD as well.

Also, Magical Twinkle Sky is super catchy and super earworm.
