Noitamina’s really great this year.

The enjoyable:

  • Durarara!! — I can’t believe there’s headless moe now.
  • Hanamaru Kindergarten —Will Tsucchi ever get to confess to Yamamoto-sensei properly?
  • To Aru Kagaku no Railgun — Biribiri
  • So-Ra-No-Wo-To — Amazing grace~ how sweet the girls
  • B-gata H-kei — Blue balls all around.
  • Working!! — SAM WAN WAN SAM WAN WAN
  • Ichiban Ushirou Daimaou — How to go against the world… in style.
  • Amagami SS — Kneepits and bellybuttons with stalkers.
  • Shukufuku no Campanella — Very fuwa-fuwa.
  • Mitsudomoe — I like how their teacher was forgotten over time.
  • Seitokai no Yakuindomo — Sex jokes extraordinaire!
  • Shiki — Blood and staking arc was well worth it.
  • MM! — Set a landmark for a XEBEC show; almost no panty shots.
  • Shinryaku! Ika Musume — Mini Ika Musume’s would’ve invaded us in no time.
  • Tantei Opera Milky Holmes — BOYOYON~ BOYOYON~ BOYOYON~
  • Cat Shit One — Those damn bunnies.
  • Henzemi! — Akira Ishida talking about poop.
  • Shakugan no Shana S — I think the lack of Yuuji made this OVA for me

Decent enough:

  • BakaTest — Good for a few laughs and forced memes.
  • Chu-Bra — Talking boobs
  • Ladies vs. Butlers — Mai Nakahara vs Ayako Kawasumi.
  • Kobato — Made it through thanks to Kana-tan.
  • Arakawa under the Bridge — Good for a few laughs.
  • Arakawa under the Bridge^2 — Good for a few more laughs.
  • The World God Only Knows — Kana-tan killed me.
  • Fortune Arterial — Could have been better.
  • Hyakka Ryouran Samurai Girls — Jubei was such a good girl ;_;

Disappointments:

  • Ookamikakushi — They had a girl with a giant scythe, man!
  • Angel Beats! — “Maeda sure doesn’t know what pacing is even if it was a 380-pound albino gorilla wearing the Brazilian jersey emblazoned with the words “PACING” and blowing a vuvuzela to each ear. “
  • Mayoi Neko Overrun! — Lack of zettai ryouiki after episode 1 killed it.
  • Ookami to Shichinin no Nakamatachi — Sad when the narration is the biggest highlight of the show isn’t it?
  • Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin — I still don’t know what I watched.
  • Strike Witches II — Forced drama at the end ruined it.
  • Asobi ni Ikuyo! — Wasted potential for epic.
  • Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt – Too experimental, even for Gainax.
  • Sora no Otoshimono Forte — I am still mad.
  • Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii wake ga nai — *sigh*
  • Otome Youkai Zakuro — Did they really have to put in the incest angle in there?
  • DtB: Gaiden — Went full emo and still didn’t explain shit.

Notable Movies:

  • TTGL Lagaan-hen
  • Evangelion 2.22
  • Bungaku Shoujo

  • Bakuman
  • Kimi ni Todoke

So… 61 shows started this year, 46 completed. Pretty good I guess.

Despite a lot of the griping I did this year, I did finish a lot more shows than I expected to and even enjoyed a lot of them, although most of them probably aren’t going to make any lasting marks on me.

Movies were probably the best thing this year though, since it seems that production committees and creators are realizing that TV anime isn’t that big and lucrative a market anymore, so it’s better to pool budgets and resources in to making something that is at least guaranteed to sell twice (theater seats and DVD/Blu-Rays). Of course that is bad news for us dirty gaijin anime thieves… since we’ll have to wait an inordinately long amount of time for movies to be out. Sigh.

That being said, I’d like to thank my readers for keeping up with me another year in this blog (oh gods, it’s been more than five years now) and I wish all of you a Happy New Year 2011. Here’s to hoping for another fun year ahead for us all, especially in anime. A number of original shows are seemingly coming out next year and I do hope they all do good for us.

Stick around tomorrow, (hopefully after the hangovers have cleared) for another post about the year gone past.

Kurogane made me push myself to finish Milky Holmes, and my head spiral like the way those fans of Luna and San Seto when they have a singing battle. Conclusion for that series, I want a hot mama like Henriette. Need to rewatch it again for more head spiraling.

Ore no Imouto – I don’t know why but I stayed and complete. I didn’t delete it yet.
Motto To Love-Ru – I want more Mikan and Yami. Anyway, rewatch value 9999.
Yosuga no Sora – NSFW!, in reality I watched it thoroughly…… the first four episodes.
Full Alchemist Brotherhood – Watch it weekly until it ended, nothing more.
Durarara!! – A good 26 episode series, since some of the parts I get deduced right.
Hanamaru Kindergarten – She is just clueless, if only we can swap for Working!!
So-Ra-No-Wo-To – surprise of winter season, last 2 become ValkyriaChroniclesode.
Working!! – From the beginning up to the end, it never fails me. A sequel is needed.
Amagami SS – Still waiting for my Miya episode, although I like recent Risa episode.
Mitsudomoe – This lives up to my expectation that’s why there s a second season.
Seitokai no Yakuindomo – If not for the two lolis of the show, I might dropped this b4.
Shinryaku! Ika Musume – My new goal this summer of 2011, cosplay my little cousin.
Tantei Opera Milky Holmes – Kurogane bursts leads me to check this out and BOOM.
BakaTest – Two, three, eight are some of the memorable moments here.
The World God Only Knows – I was killed too, good thing I have someone to resu me.
Yosuga no Sora – The day that Yami Kurogane is born.

Pft, the only 2010 title that I actually finished is Ichiban Ushiro no Daimao. I suppose I did finish Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Started quite a few though. Although, I have watched over 400 videos, but many consisted of shows that air on TV here in the US, and most of those series are very long or never-ending, so remain unfinished. Gosh, couldn’t even get through much of my backlog of DVDs…

Been falling behind on anime and manga more and more…

Watched a lot more than I expected to as the year went on. I’m sure I’ll forget a crapload of shows that I watched.

    Super Enjoyable Tier:

Baka Test (was that this year? Are we sure?)
    Milky Holmes
Unlimited Blade Works (I cheered when *** got their *** ripped out, fwiw)

    Ika Tier:

    IKA! (Go irresistible squid girl!)

    Really Good Stuff Tier:
FMA Brotherhood (at least the last 30 episodes or so)
Suzumiya Movie (needed less Yuki, I’ve never liked Yuki)

    Solidly Enjoyable Tier:

The World God Only Knows (FIRETRUCKS)
    Legendary Heroes
K-On 2 (needed more corn-eating Yuis, less swimsuit Azu-nyans, no one wants to see that)
Angel Beats (on the whole was overrated but was the best show of its crap season)
Amagami up until the Ayatsuji set (needed more nishishi)
    Nanoha movie
    Ichiban Ushiro
Seitokai Yakuindomo (got better towards the end)
    To Heart 2 adNext
Inuyasha: Final Act; pretty sure that qualifies as this year

Stuff That Wasn’t Bad But Not Worth A Rewatch:

    Sora no Otoshimono 2
    Fortune Arterial
Working!! (Needed more Poplar and Poplarface)
Railgun (At least the first twelve episodes)
    Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru
    Sengoku Basara 2
MM! (currently watching but it seems like this is where it’ll end up)

Stuff That Wasn’t Good But Worth A Rewatch Because Fumino Is Drawn By Kentaro Yabuki:

    Mayoi Neko Overrun

Stuff I Didn’t Actually Watch But Was Assuredly Awesome Because It Has Yami-chan In It:

    Motto To Love Ru

Tier of Things I Probably Should Not Have Watched:

Ore Imo / Incestuous Azusa-voiced Kirino spectacular
    Strike Witches 2
    Ookami
    Campanella
    Bungaku Shoujo
Omamori Himari (that was this year, wasn’t it?)

Tier of Stuff I Really, Really Didn’t Like:

    Arakawa Under the Bridge
    Ladies vs Butlers

and I seriously recommend you finish Kaichou, the ending is a bit similar to the KareKano end with nothing really being finished but the whole show is just really good to make up for it

I still consider Fullmetal Alchemist as a seinen manga instead of shounen.

    @NovaJinx: You are a casual, that’s why.

@Cho_Hakkai: I did finish Otome Youkai Zakuro.

@Anise_Punter: Did Not Exist: Omamori Himari.

Kuragehime was not very popular but also seemingly overrated IMO, there was hardly even a decent wrap-up for a season if it is just a season. MTLR was very impressive considering how much I hated the first season. I liked almost all of the animes in your disappointment list except for Ookamikakushi which was a huge waste of time. Overall a good year but nothing really amazing.

Aww… I totally enjoyed Strike Witches and Campanella. But yeah, what the heck happened with Omamori Himari. I feel that it’s not….. very good at all compared to the manga. Dang it. About Mayoi Neko Overrun, dang I also wished for more Kaho and also one other girl that did not even appear in the anime. Darn.

    I remembered Haruhi Movie…
It was one of the movie I watched and finished almost late in the morning., thanks to that I had a pretty headache the next day after, I didn’t really regret watching it.

Working is very good. and I’m very convince about FMA:B.
