An amazingly decent resolution episode for Akira’s arc. I quite liked the initial twist and the final resolution of the issue of Akira’s mother.
First, they raised the possibility that Akira and Kazuha was swapped at birth, tying nicely in to their same birthday “coincidence”. Then the final reveal involving the pendant was quite well done as well, preserving the major status quo but also opening the route to Akira getting a better treatment from her real family too. I do understand how Kazuha’s mother felt so betrayed when she found out about Akira, but she also found it in her heart to forgive her for sins she didn’t commit and came off looking a lot more better than the impressions she gave off in the earlier episodes.
As for Akira, I dare say she stands out better as a character than her sister, Kazuha. While Kazuha’s conflicts were majorly centered on her own guilt towards Akira’s disownment, Akira’s conflict as a character was about living through the loneliness and hatred surrounding her and her unfortunate origins. I also liked how the episode gave us a glimpse of Akira’s “Ojii-chan”, who raised her despite all the prejudices and gave her strength to go through life. I really admired that part of Akira and it was good to see that she did it not as a coping mechanism, but as a tribute to the one person who raised her up.
And for the reward scenes this week, I’m glad to say they were pretty tasteful and full of mugyuu :). Kazuha’s reward scenes had the advantage of being fresh but didn’t really hold up to close introspection, so it’s good to see that Akira’s scenes were done using mostly stills and bed dialogue instead of filling it up with fake moans. I loved how she told Haruka they were going to “mugyuu” once a day and use the phone when they couldn’t meet each other. Nice euphemisms.
Miko sex is full of mugyuu~
Eh okay, that was a much longer post than I intended to write, but this episode was seriously quite a bit better compared to the rest so far. Next week starts the
slut Nao’s arc, and the first episode is most likely the shared episode with Sora as well, so I’m hoping for a little more Sora screen time than the usual. As a parting shot, let’s have some mad Sora.
