After this episode, Haruka is the manliest male character this season so far. If he can go from looking super-uncool like this…
… to miko bathtub sex in a matter of minutes. He can do anything.
I mean lol, one moment he’s going on a futile digging expedition to look for a trinket lost 10 years ago, the next thing we know, Akira’s getting him to cop a feel of her boobs!
And they even went all the way (implied)… in the bathtub!
Gotta say, Akira’s confession post-coitus more than made up for the fact they didn’t show the act itself this week. Perhaps next episode?
But okay, the episode really wasn’t only just about the sex. Akira’s backstory was fleshed out surprisingly well given that we pretty much got spoiled about it in the previous two episodes with Kazuha.
For instance, scenes like this…
… really convey the pain she feels from being ‘thrown’ away and disowned by her family. Remember, usually she’s the bundle of cheerfulness amongst the cast, so seeing her secretly suffering look was really a nice touch to convey how her life is. And the part when Kazuha’s mother just plain ignores her when they meet just hit the nail hard too.
It also helps a lot that the episode used a lot of the melancholy-sounding tracks from it’s OST to enhance the atmosphere of the story. Usually OST’s don’t make much difference but Yosuganosora’s one does, and quite a lot too. I just really found myself enjoying the OST at parts of the episode, mostly during the flashbacks.
Based on the preview and hints this episode, it looks like Akira does know who her real mother is already, but for some reason she seems to be keeping it to herself. Haruka, however, has proven himself to be a person that can really reach out to people and I am interested to know how he’s going to resolve Akira’s loneliness next week more than expecting more sex scenes.
