Katanagatari 07

Probably the most heart-wrenching battle of the show so far. The cinematography and BGM of this scene really hits hard.

Admittedly, Nisioisin really likes to create characters waaaaaaay larger than life sometimes, and Nanami can be rightly put in as one. In a sense, so gifted her body had to be crippled to balance it, yet unable to properly die, it actually gets so convoluted it makes sense she wanted to be killed by a loved one’s hand. Obviously all that power is a huge burden but yet unable to fully utilize it nor get rid of it… it does somewhat justify her grand suicide scheme in the end. Still… this wasn’t really something I wanted to wish or see happen ;_;.

Mai Nakahara’s really great in her element here as Nanami and her death makes it a much more bitter pill to swallow because, honestly, I haven’t heard Mai Nakahara in a notable role other than Katanagatari recently. She will be sorely missed. Thankfully, as a parting gift, she does get to sing this episode’s ED.

Well, now that Katanagatari’s gone to the second half, apparently the creators thought it would be nice to refresh up Togame’s looks, with a little help from Nanami.

Still… I am going to miss that looooong hair.

Togame actually had quite a lot of good parts this episode, like when she slapped Shichika (and epic failing her landing afterwards) and blushing when Shichika thanks her. But the best has to be the when she indirectly hints that she and Shichika are considered “family” now, after he says that he’s all alone now that he’s got no more relatives. That was rather cute.

Next month looks set to be another interesting sword battle against the robotic Kanzashi. Man those Deviant Blades are too damn deviant!

This scene reminds me of X-men Last Stand, when Wolverine killed Jean Grey..

Kuro your post lacks the HITEIHIME’S GLORIOUS THIGHS. I demand you fix this.

Joking aside. I really liked this episode, it kept the intrigue and managed to reinforce Togame’s defining character trait (she never gives up)

And it actually managed to make me sort of like Nanami by the end. Before I was just neutral in regards to her, or just unsympathetic to her cruel nature.

@in other words… : I lol’ed at the video game-style animation of Nanami pwning the temple minions and the eroge-style scene between Emonzaemon and Togame too.

@SnooSnoo: Lol I didn’t notice it that much. Did she grow that much?

@Haesslich: Shichika’s blows also decimate clothes for fanservicing purposes.

@Avisch: huh, where was it? I totally missed that. Post a screencap plz.

At least she flashed her boobs before dying.

Joke aside, this episode was the best so far, I almost felt like when I was watching Kara no Kyoukai 5 aka My brain almost exploded. I predicted since episode 1 Nanami would find a sword to heal her and they would have to fight Nanami but I thought she would be final boss. But holy sh** I never thought that healing her body would make her weaker and that she was learning techs to weaker herself. Now that’s the definition of overpowered.I agree she should have been in Medaka Box.You can see the 2 stuff have been wrote by the same genius
And they even managed to fill the lack of budget with Vn and shooting game hilarity.

*sigh* I really am trying, but I cannot for the life of me. I just CAN’T. I can’t treat seriously a show with pokemon-esque eyes! I try so haaard, but those silly black-circles-with-spots are just too much for me. I just sit there giggling for the entire episode. “hehe, he looks like Crayon Shin-chan’s older brother! hehe, Crayon Shin-chan’s GAY older brother! giggle-giggle-choke-fanservice!-giggle”
