Working!! 09

Working!!

Working!!

When an episode kicks off with a line like that, you know it will either be a massive facepalm-worthy flop or an epic win episode.

So we find out the reason for Inami’s manphobia….

Working!!

Working!!

… her father. Talk about ironic.

Working!!

Oh god, what an epic line. (Note: that’s Inami’s father)

Working!!

And we find out why Inami hits men when she’s near them too… thanks a lot, Mr. Inami! Also, LOL IRONY.

Working!!

Oh god, so fucking wrong when taken out of context. I mean, it sure translates roughly to that but…..

Working!!

Yamada is the best supporting character of Working!!

Working!!

Yeah… that would make things a lot easier for Takanashi

And finally, for the epic win……

Working!!

TAKANASHI-KUN ACTUALLY CROSSDRESSED!!!

Working!!

And Inami feels that pain that all flat-chested women watching Working!! are feeling right now as well…..

Working!!

Female Takanashi has been officially christened as Lulu-ko Kotori-chan!

Working!!

Even Kyoko-san is surprised. And I thought nothing aside from food would unnerve her.

Working!!

LOL role reversal time! Poplar going GA-GA over Kotori-chan was surely karma of the highest degree.

Working!!

Isn’t that sad, Takanashi-kun? Or should I say, Kotori-chan?

Working!!

I still think his original hair color would suit him more than the wig’s color…

Working!!

Even if his exterior’s female, Takanashi’s still a man inside. Good job admonishing Inami’s one hell of an overprotective parent.

Working!!

And his efforts are not lost on Inami-chan. Oh man she’s totally fallen for him now. Will true love surpass her male phobia though?

Working!!

Aw Takanashi, you natsuru! She’s just too embarrassed to know how to react to you now!

Oh man, this was pretty much the best episode of Working!! so far with Kotori-chan appearing and the solidification of Souta x Inami as well. Truly epic from the get-go and lasting all the way till the end, this will probably be an episode of Working!! that will be memorable long after the show ends.

The best part is probably the reactions of all involved. Yamada is surprisingly well-equipped and she sure has great timing as well. Satou’s reaction when Yachiyo mentioned that she could pretend to be Takanashi was win too. Even Kyoko was so surprised she spit out her sundae, something I sure didn’t expect from her.

Inami’s cuteness meter sure blew the top this week as well. I mean who could resist those cute puppy-dog eyes!

Working!!

… even if she was asking you to do something extremely embarrassing. And after this, she’s so totally belonging to Takanashi, although whether he will reciprocate remains to be seen.

Next week promises Nazuna… and the title hints at something interesting. Can’t wait.

Omake: The anatomy of Kotori-chan.

Working!!

Hurr…. Souta sure is perfect for this.

Nice job for the subgroup to translate things they thought to be fitting without actually mistranslating a line o.O

Well Yamada is indeed well-equipped, to install a microphone on Katanashi’s (Kotori’s) uniform. And what is she doing in her room above the restaurant anyways, the whole place was trembling o.O

So anyone else for Inami as Saimoe ’10?
(But this year’s Saimoe seems to have many promising characters/series)

LOL Saimoe. Oh god, please no more of that. My inner competitive moé-fag can’t take that anymore. Also Inami is moé but not Saimoe worthy, if you ask me.

    >Saimoe
Oh you mean that rigged contest? I’ll pass.

Does this mean Inami is used goods now?

    I’d Takanashi.

Once you go to the Geass side, forever will it dominate your roles. Also, Inami’s dad is like a Shin who got a hot woman to try to get a hot daughter to do bad things to. And failed.

Also, Kotori did to the girls of Wagnaria what Luluko did to the girls of Ashford Academy. I almost thought Kyouko would have had more to say there… that, and with the wig, Kotori looked like Yachiyo’s bustier, taller sister – but minus the sword and with Satou’s evil aura.

still without fanservice, still funny as hell, eat this comedic shows based on naked bodies!

@ewok: Agreed, especially since the last few season has so many of them that I got bored… KissXSis is so blatant about it that it even turned me off!

    >>Aw Takanashi, you Natsuru! She’s just too embarrassed to know how to react to you now!
Now, now, I know that you, and many of us, are still traumatized by the Natsuru-level idiocy of Sai Akuto, but I think Takanashi isn’t as bad (yet). He probably just got one punch too many; being a punching bag at a minimum four times a day will do that…

This is now my most favorite slice-of-life anime of the season (sorry K-On!, but I like you better as a manga)!

Looks like Hideyoshi has some competition for trap of the year.

  9. Kurogane Shiroikaze Said,

Funnily, I can’t think of Souta as “trap”-ish now. Instead, after this episode he’s more manlier than ever. Because he actually bloody crossdressed so properly JUST to cover Inami’s ass.

Of course…. having more Kotori-chan cameos is fine with me too… just fix the wig color a bit. I hope Yamada does.

  11. Bill Said,

His father actually said “tabery”… I think that the translation rape is actually inacurrate… I think it should be eat. Oh well.

  12. Bill Said,

    May 31, 2010 @ 10:03 pm

^typo… Should be “taberu”. Please edit.

  13. Haesslich Said,

    May 31, 2010 @ 10:12 pm

Bill: so ‘consume’ would have been better? Or ‘use’?

  14. Gin Said,

    May 31, 2010 @ 10:27 pm

    @Haesslich
He was probably going for the wolf idea, so “Boys will eat you.” makes the most sense. But the sub line is funnier.

  15. Kurogane Shiroikaze Said,

    May 31, 2010 @ 10:35 pm

Actually, in -very- inappropriate contexts, “taberu” can mean rape as well. I believe there’s a similar connotation in English as well.

So… it’s not a mistranslation per se…. just very inappropriate choicing of words to convey the meaning. Almost out of context even.

But. It makes it a whole lot funnier too, so I’m okay with it!

  16. Bill Said,

    May 31, 2010 @ 11:52 pm

It is indeed funnier to use rape. However, I think that “eat” is better to use when you are scaring a child. I doubt that the young Inami would be able to comprehend the definition of rape. But’s still… I enjoyed how much of Inami’s lines can be taken out of context.

  17. K_S_ Said,

Didn’t he also use the word osowareru, meaning assault? Although this can legitimately be translated into rape, assault is jst the common use for it, I think.

Did I miss something or who was that black/dark blue haired girl with glasses in the end?

  19. K_S_ Said,

    June 1, 2010 @ 2:28 am

That’s the girl from the end of the OP xDDD
The series hasn’t shown more of her yet.

But wait: According to the homepage, her name is Matsumoto Maya, a “normally normal employee” (http://www.wagnaria.com/chara/chara14.html)

“It is indeed funnier to use rape.” – Bill

I took that out of context and started laughing.

    Satou is just amazing.

Is Matsumot- OH WAIT SO THAT WAS WHERE THE CONTACT LENSES CAME FROM!

Is she the type of character that is normally so plain they don’t stand out at all?! We’ve never actually seen her around the show yet. Oh well we’ll see next week. Tantalizing.

  24. edru Said,

you can see maya near the ending in this ep, she appears after the lights of wagneria turn on and she’s cleaning a table
she is also in the op song, the part where satou is messing popura’s hair

  25. akani Said,

    June 1, 2010 @ 10:12 am

I wouldn’t say “overprotective” as much as “creepy.” He freaking pyschologically forced her to have a phobia AND put weights into her bags when she wasn’t looking. The one time I want Inami to punch a guy she holds back, which was really disappointing. Why Inami’s mom married a guy like that I will never know…

On the other hand, Kotori-chan is one of those traps that look better than the actual females in the show…

  26. Haesslich Said,

    June 1, 2010 @ 11:36 am

Ryn: That’s a classic Daisuke Ono line, right there.

akani: You get the impression that Inami’s father really does want to ‘eat’ her, given how he tries to bar her from any male contact and put her into an all-girls’ school… and her mom’s either clueless or goes along with this, which makes her more screwed up than half the cast. But yes, this ‘shared history of missing fathers who scarred them mentally and missing parents’ thing is a point both Inami and Souta share, which is probably why she understands his position better than some others.

And Kotori-chan’s pretty scary.. but then again, so was Luluko. I still say that Yachiyo and Kotori should’ve double-teamed Inami’s dad out of the restaurant… but the way they admire his being manly while being a better woman than Inami’s mom is ironic. Ditto the way he described himself as ‘her best friend’, only to actually act in that role in the end.

  27. ewok Said,

    June 1, 2010 @ 3:06 pm

Yachiyo with her katana vs dad with hunting rifle? I’d love to see that epic fight!

  28. CaptainBright Said,

    @randompasserby

When I heard Inami’s dad, my mind instantly went into “I’M GOING TO VIOLATE YOU NOW!” (a free cookie for people who know this)

Anyways, Kotori-chan feels good man. If he was voiced by a female instead, I would really hit it.

Let me guess: Nazuna heard from her sisters that Takanashi has an odd relationship with Inami and decided to check whether she should play cupid or yandere imouto chara…

@Kuro: Actually, I think Matsumoto has a (very) brief scene in the first episode before Souta gets recruited
