And while I don’t deny Nino is cute, the end illustration takes are still the best, so far.

Kaichou wa Maid-sama 02

Kaichou wa Maid-sama

Ayumi Fujimura has certainly conquered this niché of headstrong girls that are at the same time, dignified and lovable too, with Misaki.

I didn’t really blog the first one due to various circumstances but so far I am greatly enjoying Maid-sama! a lot more in the animated form than the manga. J.C. Staff is certainly doing a great job bringing this show to life. Production quality looks very smooth and knowing J.C. Staff, there is an assurance of consistency to it as well, not to mention this is a rather high profile show with Animax simulcasting it.

Nobuhiko Okamato sounds a bit rough as Usui, but he puts in enough feeling to the acting to compensate for it. Got to admit, he and Ayumi have a great chemistry together, possibly because this is their second time pairing up together as lead roles (after Seiken no Blacksmith).

All in all, a great show to satisfy my guilty pleasures (for shoujo genres). I still actually haven’t finished Kimi Notodoke, despite the critical acclaim it has received. I guess there is only too much of Sawako’s naivete that I can take, but I plan to eventually wrap it up.

Angel Beats! 02

Angel Beats!

I have no idea what to really say about this episode, but Tenshi playing the piano in the OP is pretty awesome.

Angel Beats!

I might as well mention that this scene was pretty funny and erotic at the same time too. Good to know the afterlife has baths and perfume.

I want my own Juiz too….

The King of Eden

Wow, Juiz #6 totally stole the show for me. She talks back to No.6 in the way that frustrated secretaries deal with their boss’ mad requests. I sure did not expect them to be this…. human too!

Now I wish I could have my own Juiz too. Screw the 10 billion yen.

Negima!

New Haremmette, Luna, GET! I laughed at Chisame’s reaction, “Oh no, we’ve got another one!” So apt!

But anyways, this is basically the start of another powerlevelling mini-arc, which… after all that action, was pretty much expected to happen. I am pretty damn happy though because….

Shiki Under the Bridge 01

Arakawa under the Bridge

Arakawa under the Bridge = What-if Shiki was a homeless vagrant and Kokutou is actually Araragi + Itoshiki Nozomu’s bastard child.

This is probably one of the craziest combinations to watch this season, as if B-gata wasn’t bad enough. I mean, Maaya Sakamoto and SHAFT together! Usually, you’d expect Maaya in more… expensive shows. Admittedly, Kou is really Kamiya Hiroshi on tsukkomi-steroids, but given the character setting and the plot outline, I don’t fault him for nitpicking at every damn thing. Seriously, living under that bridge can get really trippy and weird.

For one, there’s a village chief who is a guy in a kappa kigurumi (of all things!) and he’s voiced by the manliness of Keiji Fujiwara. Maaya’s Nino pretty much channels Shiki, but exchanges the murderous instincts for sheer trippy-ness. I just can’t help but superimpose Shiki’s image on Nino whenever she talks.

I guess, uh, those who don’t like tsukkomi-bokke comedy won’t like this show, but it was pretty great on the comedic timing, in my opinion. Having many different sub-”episodes” in one episode is probably their way of keeping to the roots of the source material, but it was pretty annoying since the story just moves along without those “dividers” anyways. I do hope they tone that down a bit. Seems to me like a cheap way to take up screen time rather.

Ichiban Ushirou Daimaoh 01

… or as some people like to call it, Dai Zettai Ryouiki (you know who you are!). Personally though, their zettai ryouiki isn’t anything special anyways.

So anyways, fun show. Good for some boobs and laughs, but I’m not personally expecting much from the show considering its genre, roots and director. Sure, Toyosaki Aki being a drama queen is funny and seeing Itou Shizuka as a crazy psychobitch sounds like interesting, but as I said, not really expecting much.

The fundoshi though… it’s a good twist from the usual panties.

Ichiban Ushiro Daimaoh

One thing I did notice though, is the inconsistent censorship. Panty-shots were censored with a crazy huge black bar, but full-body, almost nude-shots were left practically untouched. AT-X is apparently airing it later, so those who want their upskirt fix can get that version later I guess. Not that the wonky production quality will be better or anything.

To sum up this show in one sentence, “Demon King and his harem of trigger-happy crazy bitches cause chaos around the school.”, if anything’s to be inferred from this episode. I should mention the teacher has no ethical or moral brakes too, since she boldly declares that “the undead make great experimental subjects” since they’re already dead. That was probably the LULZ-isiest part of the show for me.
